A Giant Appetite

Xavier Mansion - Courtyard
Surrounded on three sides by the school, a large courtyard forms the front yard. The courtyard leads right up to the door of the mansion. Yellow square stone slabs cover the ground where the grass would be. The most noticeable thing about the courtyard is the large statue of Jean Gray, aka Phoenix, in the middle as a memorial. Benches surround the outside of the statue so students can sit and hang out in the courtyard. There are two paths leading off the courtyard, one to the left and the other to the right.
Zack grunts as he stumbles in, still no shoes, but at least he's found a shirt. Managing to get to the front gate, and into the courtyard. Panting, and sitting down on a bench. Looking worn and haggard.
Cloud is out for a jog, he's dressed in a pair of black shorts and black sneakers, he should probably be wearing a shirt but to him the cold is just a part of the work out. He turns a corner and spots the last of the missing students, he sprints towards him, "Hey Zack!", he pulls out his phone (which for once he remembered) and hits the panic button.
Mike Drakos has been preparing for a drive. He earned this drive, he was good and did his math homework during class and everything. So when he gets out the door and sees Zack stumbling in, he mutters "Oh shit another one" and starts to kick his own panic button but sees Cloud hit his. OK. Then just dial in a text. Zack in courtyard. Looks like hell not thawed out
Zack is still a little bit in shock, so he kinda waves his hand, "Uh…hi…"he says and rubs his eyes, "I made it back I think…no, don't think, obviously I'm here now." he takes another teadying breath as he remains sitting down on the bench. He keeps taking a breath as his hands are in his lap, "Ah fuck…I feel like shit…"
Text message from Mike to the panic-number, "Zack in courtyard, looks like hell not thawed out."
Cloud reaches Zack and crouches down next to him, "Dude you ok?, wait no of course you're not ok, you were kidnapped by a mental case", he looks over and spots Mike, good someone's coming, "Are you hurt anywhere?"
The robot kid runs over to where Cloud is heading for the refugee. He stops next to him as well, and looks the guy over quickly for Sinistration. Nothing apparent. Medbay then … "Zack. Can you walk at all? If you can, we're taking you to the medbay now," Mike says in a no-nonsense no-questions voice.
Zack lets out another breath, "I just gotta sit a moment, I'm tired…an hungry, starving in fact. I dunno, what day is it?" he asks, "I don't know anymore…" he takes another slow breath. As if thinking about each one. Well he's not lookin so hot, but he's not looking black or anything.
That line needs explanation. Zack was thinking Mr. Sinister was all-black, rather than all-white with black garb.
Cloud nods "Food right, err, tuesday", he turns to Mike, "I'll be right back, he doesn't seem hurt so sit with him till i get back", he then sprints off and sticks his fingers in the first electrical outlet he finds, the speed is needed.
Mike shakes his head. "wait, Rush… dammit." He looks at Zack. "How much do you weigh?"
Zack huhs, "What? I don't know, like 400…I guess I think I could stand, or try to…" he wobbles and gets up to his feet a little slowly, but manages to stand up.
Cloud is back within a couple more seconds, his irises glowing yellow and electricity crackling off his skin, in his hands he has a baguette, a bottle of water and a apple, "Here, eat, then we'll move you", he holds out the food.
Mike says, "No food yet, not safe after starving. Remember your first aid. Be ready to get help if he was trapped, Rush."
Also starving people, who eat too fast too soon, tend to vomit and Mike doesn't want vomit on him.
He turns to Zack, "I'm going to carry you inside. Hang on around my neck," and moves to pick up the giant. While he's bulky, he's well within what Mike (with the strength of a truck) can move.
Zack groans a little bit again and he at least reachs for the water, he wants something to drink, sucking down the water, coughing, "All right, all right let's go…"
Cloud nods and puts the food down on the bench, he then reaches into his pocket and absorbs from the lump of steel he carries around with him, this will give him some extra strength if Mike needs help carrying Zack.
Mike tsks mechanically. "One mouthful at a time, Zack. Hold it until it's warm then swallow." While doing this, he moves towards the entrance, "Get the door please Rush?" And they move inside at a fair clip.
Xavier Mansion - Medical Bay
The Medical Bay contains the latest medical equipment to patch up students and X-Men with the smallest and worst injuries. Six beds line the walls for injured patients. Equipment lines the walls, medicine in the cabinets, and more serious medical supplies locked in cabinets. One this about this room it screams sterilization.
Doc is doubtless on his way but in the meantime Mike remembers how to set the medbay beds to "check out and do necessary life support". He uses the human settings too, not the robot ones.
Text message from Mike to the emergency contact number: Zack is in medbay, no apparent injuries, no obvious changes, waiting for Doc to treat him.
Zack takes a deep breath as he gets into the med bay, gulping, swallowing hard as he gets into the med bay, nnnngh…uh…." he says and gets onto the med bay. "I just want something to drink, please…" he takes another gulp of water.
Cloud stands back and watches Mike hook Zack up to the mechines, waiting for Mike to tell him what to do.
From the first aid manual, normal treatment for dehydration and starvation: IV fluids including some sugars to replenish the body's stores and get electrolytes into balance. Slowly introduce food: applesauce, tea, toast, bananas and rice in small amounts initally, then after a few hours, small meals of nothing spicy. Eventually, regular food within a day if it's not too bad.
At some point the Doc arrives to take charge of the treatment, but for certain, the Shiar machines in the medBay strap a device onto Zack's wrist which begin feeding fluids into his veins, sugars and water and electrolytes which will have him feeling almost human… or mutant, in any case … within a half hour. The doctor would tell Cloud, "Good instinct with the apple but it has to be applesauce," and provide some of that miracle food for Zack's doubtless upset and cranky stomach. Tea, toast, rice, fruit, all provided over the next few hours, and regular food (a woefully small amount) just before midnight. Meanwhile the machines will record anything they can find that might be a mark that Sinister has done the lad some kind of latent dirt. Of course if he goes rogue and does something insane that will also provide evidence.
Mike nods, "I gotta get going, guys. Zack, good to have you back."
Zack is still hungry, despite all of the fluids and supplies going through him. He will eagerly eat! Of course Sinister's work is fairly obvious. It was a hatchet job, and sinister admitted as muh, not having much respect for Zack. His body absorbs the nutriants, but rejects every drug it's given. Eating what he can to feed the hole in his stomach.
Cloud is staying in the medbay for a while to keep an eye on Zack, he feels kind of guilty because he got off easy, Sinister more or less let him go straight away, poor Zack was kept for weeks.
Zack is resting, fairly glum as his body heals, pretty easily as it always does now, and he takes a glance over towards Cloud, "Hey…how's it going, just sticking arond?" he asks as he shifts in his bed.
Cloud looks up when Zack speaks to him, "Yeah, just thought i'd stay and keep an eye on you dude, let the Doc get some rest", he smiles, "Feeling any better?"
Zack nods, "Well I'm still hungry, feel like i could eat a horse but I don't think they're going to let me…greepy bastard just sorta left me when he moved out."
Logging character left the room … Zack and Cloud continued for a bit, but they'll have to add their own log.
