Xavier Mansion - Recreation Room
What was once the Parlor has been turned into a Recreation Room for the students. A nice plush carpet meets the light blue walls giving it a homey feel. A pool table at one end, a foos ball table at the other, and entertainment center with video game systems, movies, and of course, cable TV. Big comfy chairs and couches surround a coffee table for comfortable loafing. Long glass windows with a pair of French doors line one side of the room bringing in plenty of light during the day. The main rule in here is to clean up after yourself.
Ever since the night with the run-in with Heather's parents, Robyn hasn't been able to sleep much and it shows. His hair is a bit disheveled, he's got bags under his eyes and just looks worn out. He's dressed in a pair of Jack Skellington pajama pants with a matching shirt and is curled up on the couch. He clutches a vampire teddy bear and has a bag of oatmeal raisin cookies from Mrs. Fields next to him. Currently the movie Big Fish plays on the television and it seems that Robyn's eyes are focused on the screen for the moment.
Dressed casually in a pair of dark black cargo pants, and a tight black fitted t-shirt, Kieran's humming softly to himself as he moves to sit down on the couch,"You ok Robyn?" He asks curiously looking at Robyn curiously as he pulls his legs under him. "You look like you've not gotten a whole lot of sleep lately." He says eyeing the older teen as if trying to figure out what's wrong with the teen. He relaxes a bit into the couch.
Robyn shakes his head. "No…not really." He admits. "Remember when Heather was talking about her parents, and we were explaining they were evil…well…we ran into them." He says as his eyes leave the television and look at Kieran. "I don't know if Connor is dead or not. Something happened…and I can't find Heather and I don't know what to do." He just spills out.
"I got they were evil. Damn… You ran into them already?" Kieran says sighing a little bit,"Wow… That's just… Really sucky. Who's Connor?" He asks not really sure who that is,"Has anyone tried to see if they can find Heather as well? Although from what you told me about her parents, going after them without a good plan would probably be a very very bad thing." He says sighing a little bit.
"Connor's my roommate and my best friend." Robyn explains. "He's..like a brother to me. I mean there was a black hole then nothing, there's just nothing where he was." He says hugging the bear tighter. "Yeah, we ran into them. They're really scary. I couldn't imagine growing up with parents like that."
"You've got to have hope Robyn. It's possible whatever he did that made the black hole put him somewhere that he's having a hard time getting back from. Let's think that he'll be ok." Kieran says trying to give Robyn some sort of hope,"And they sounded scary. I can't imagine what it was like either."
There's a slight smile from Robyn to Kieran. "You remind me of Rashmi, she always has hope. It's…a good thing." He picks up the bag and offers it to Kieran to see if he'd like a cookie. "It's just, I don't want to see anything bad happen to Heather. She really helped me the last time I was in trouble. I want to be there for her. I hate telling you this but being a mutant puts such a target on your back."
"Well we can either have hope, or we can succumb and become willing targets. I'll hold on to hope for now. No one is going to get me to go down without a fight and I plan to do as much damage to the baddies as possible." Kieran says smiling a little bit and shaking his head at the cookies. "I think I gathered about being a mutant putting my life in danger to a degree. I mean I've see the scars on Cloud, and what Star's told me about what she's been through, and I've met Chloe and seen she's lost a hand." He says shrugging as he speaks,"But I'm not going to let any of that defeat me. The only thing we can do is analyze what went wrong last time and see if we can devise a way to help Heather…. preferably without destroying a city in the process."
"I've…been through a lot since I came here. I have a few scars myself but at least they're easily hidden." Robyn says. "I don't like scaring people, especially when they're newer students like yourself, with horror stories that could happen here. I've been kidnapped, my boyfriend's been turned to a demon, he's been kidnapped, I've been turned into a ghost..that's when Heather helped me return to myself. It's just hard and I've never been one to deal with this stuff well. Connor…he's always helped me. And Rashmi. And she's at Barnes and he's gone and Jordan doesn't go to school here….I don't know how to help Heather."
"Well the first step would be to figure out what exactly has happened to her. When you figure out the problem you figure out the solution." Kieran says seriously,"It's just like a math problem. Begin at the beginning and work your way to the end. I know I haven't really been through anything, I mean nothing bad has happened to me other than getting a minor overload of my nervous system once. We need to figure out what they've done to her, and then we can figure out what their abilities are. Then we figure out how to fight them. It's like on a soccer field, sometimes when I'm playing, I have to feel out my opponent to figure out the best strategy, and that can only be done by fighting."
"Something with her mind, I could feel it. I saw it when I possessed her too. Her parents are making her see things. Her father. He can create illusions." Robyn says as he pulls up on himself. "I know what they're doing to her. They are putting visions in her head that she's alone, and telling her she's alone and a failure and everything. She ran away but I don't have super speed like her. It's..scary."
"Well then the first thing we need to do is find where she's at it. THen we have to found a way to counter him. How do we counter him though…. It sounds like he's a telepath in a way. Maybe Jono could do something that would interfere with his illusions…" Kieran says shifting to pull his knees to his chest,"I mean he's got some form of telepathy right? Cause he spoke into my head when I met him."
Robyn blinks a few times as something is said that takes him completely off guard. "Jono? Jono's back? I haven't seen him in a long time." He's kind of surprised by that. "I don't know, I told Ms. Frost what happened. She has some really awesome telepathic powers. I've felt it, she's…I can't even describe how powerful her mind feels. But I don't know, I've been learning metal defense but it's hard. I tried to defend against what I saw but even knowing what they could do, I believed it."
"Yes. Came back recently. He seems a good sort if a little on the gloomy side." Kieran says nodding his head a bit,"So maybe he can lend a hand with defending against Heather's dad. I don't know if there's anyone who can really help me too much with my powers other than someone like Magneto. Mostly I think I'm just experimenting with my powers to see how they can work. I think I leak a lot of power when I throw electricity."
"He's…usually on the gloomy side. I think that's why we used to get into a lot of arguments." Robyn says. "But…I always liked Jono. And there's more than someone like Magneto who can help you with your powers. They're really good at training us here. They are." He says before looking at Kieran. "We are all experimenting and learning. I didn't learn anything just because I read a book."
"Yeah. I pretty much gathered that was his base personality." Kieran says laughing a little bit,"Well he'd be able to show me how some of my powers work, least the magnetic powers. " He says shrugging a little bit,"But it will still mean a lot of self exploration. Thankfully that's not as dangerous as Tyler's."
"Rashmi works with Magneto, I still find him quite terrifying." Robyn admits. "Growing up in New York City I saw a lot of the damage that..not just him but other super villains caused. That's why my Mom didn't like when she found out I was a mutant. At least she's better about it now." He says giving a small smile. "It just sucks cause it's my last year here, I have less than a week before I graduate and I should be graduating with Connor not…not wondering if I'll ever see him again." He says trying to hold back crying.
"I find the idea of working with him terrifying. He's probably among the most powerful mutants on the planet and that's sort of mindblowing." Kieran says seriously,"I'm sure things will work out right. Let's try and remain confident that he's just trying to get back. Perhaps the black hole sent him really far from here, farther than anything he's traversed before with his portals and is slowly making his way back. Or perhaps he has to take time because it was overdoing it and needs to recover. I mean if I totally use my battery, I need to rest a bit and recover energy."
"I've never seen his powers like this." Robyn says as he takes a shuddering breath. "I mean…she could have made him more powerful but why? And if she did…who knows what his powers can do. He's linked to other realities and..even if he's alive what if he's lost somewhere and can't get back. Thanks for being positive but…Connor and Rashmi are the first two close friends I've really had. And…I'm scared I'll never see him again.
"Heather mentioned that her mom could boost powers." Kieran says considering this for a moment,"I think what could have happened was he went to do something but because his powers were boosted, he did something more than he could normally have done." He adds with a thoughtful expression,"I can't help but think he'll make it back. It may take him a little while, but I think that he'll make it back safe and sound, or least not too badly banged up."
"What if it's like Coyote and he doesn't come back. Coyote…she.." Robyn looks down. "She died during one incident here. It was an accident but…just because we have super powers doesn't mean we're immortal." He takes a deep breath as he wipes his eyes. "It's not that I'm pessimistic, I want Connor to be okay and alive. I really do I'm just..scared that he…I don't want to never see him again."
"Well right now let's just think positively." Kieran says seriously,"Is it possible that he's got illusions in his head from Heather's dad? So that he /thinks/ he's where he should be?" He asks curiously of Robyn.
"I don't know but it was a blackhole and you can still see it now. There's nothing there where he was." Robyn says. "That's not an illusion cause it's still there." He say shaking his head. "I haven't been able to spend time in our room."
"Not an illusion /here/, and illusion in his mind. Have you tried throwing something like a rope through the hole?" Kieran asks curiously, tilting his head a bit to oneside and thinking,"If it's still open then maybe we can send something or someone through to find him."
Robyn shakes his head. "The hole isn't there anymore. Nothing is." He tries to explain. "Just the hole came…then left and nothing was in it's place. I…I hate this."
"You mean it's back to how it was before the hole?" Kieran asks blinking a little bit at Robyn and trying to figure that out. "Have you thought of asking Ms Frost to try and look for him? Maybe she can locate him."
Robyn shakes his head. "No…there's nothing where the black hole was. It sucked everything into it when it vanished. It's all just gone." He says resting his head on his knees. "I told Ms. Frost, I'm pretty confident she's trying to do what she can."
"That's just… weird." Kieran says frowning a little bit,"I'm sure she'll find something sooner or later. I think it will all work out in the end." He says smiling a little bit at Robyn and trying to remain reassuring.
Robyn pushes himself off the couch after letting out a big yawn. "Thanks Kieran…I think I'm gonna try to go get some sleep now. I've been sleeping in Rashmi's spare room since..it's weird without him there." He then gives Kieran a small smile. "Sorry I'm such a downer."
"It's ok. I think we all need someone to lean on when we get upset. Losing a friend, whether through death or them going missing is hard. Losing two friends at once and that's pretty intense feelings. I think anyone with a heart would be suffering." Kieran says with a bit of a shrug,"Sleep well. And try and get a little more sleep. You look like you haven't been getting enough and if you're needed to help rescue them, you'll not do anyone any good half asleep."
Robyn nods to Kieran. "Thanks..you're a good guy Kieran." He says before he grabs his cookies and his vampire teddy bear and goes to try to get some sleep.
