Xavier Mansion - Kitchen

This kitchen was designed to feed large numbers of people, and looks it with its bright white walls and stainless steel appliances. The stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher are all larger than normal. There is an island with stools around it for people to sit and eat around along with a table for twelve by the windows in back. Along the wall is a hole in the wall looking into the dining room so food can be passed back and fourth. Anything you want to cook or eat in the kitchen you will find the food and supplies to do so.

Another night, another kitchen jaunt. Tonight is simple. Oven Roasted Pork Chops, Jasmine Rice, steamed asian veggies, Miso Soup. Cam is just finishing up, and pulling one of the pork chops to a side plate to cut it into tiny pieces before working it into the rice, and adding a healthy dose of soy sauce. He's humming lightly to himself.

With a few books under one arm, Dunstin comes into the kitchen with a rumbling stomach. "Hey Cam, I thought that was you in here. I'm working on a campaign for when I start things here." He doesn't know much about those kidnapped and he's just heard rumours so at the moment he's not thinking on it too much. "What kind of character do you think you might what to play?"

"Uhm…" Cam says, looking up and pulling headphones out of his ears. "Sorry. Didn't hear you. What was that?" He asks, before motioning to food. Obviously, saying help yourself. He mixes in some steamed veggies, and pulls the bowl of meat, rice, and veggies and a bowl of miso over to a place to sit and eat. The meat is seasoned with chili powder, garlic, and salt and pepper. Nothing major. Simple, but tasty.

"Oh sorry, I didn't see the headphones." Dunstin says with a bit of a smile as he goes to help himself. "This all looks really good Cam. Uhh…I was talking about how I think I'm gonna start running a DnD group here soon. I think I have a campaign pretty much worked out." He says with a smile as he sits down next to Cam.

"Oh? Nifty. Which system? Basic D&D? Mystara? Alternia?" Cam lists a few worlds he knows of, all with vastly different rules and settings as he takes a spoon and starts on his soup. There's very little seaweed in it, all very tiny pieces. And the tofu is chopped small as well. "So I know what I'm going to go with."

"DnD 4th." Dunstin says holding up the books, Dungeon Masters Guide, Players Handbook and Monster Manuel in one nifty pack. "I have a ton of the miniatures upstairs in my room. And I can't believe you can make this, it's really awesome." He says sipping some of the miso soup. He didn't know it was something people made in their kitchens, like outside of a Japanese restaurant. "Oh? So what are you gonna make?

"Oh, 4th. Hmm… Gotta think on that for a bit. I usually go with something ornate, but I may just make a Paladin. Or a Ranger. Or… no, can't do that. Paladins are lawful and Rangers are neutral." He says, considering for a few moments. He blushes at the compliment, but nods. "It's really not hard. With the right ingredients. And they keep everything here. Well, I haven't seen truffles."

"Both are good Cam. I always liked playing wizards or druids and such. Actually running is my favourite." Dunstin says continuing to eat finding everything very delicious. "Mike expressed interest, who knew a Transformer would want to play, and Six might be too. He already plays a lot of WoW. Should I put a notice up?"

Cam considers for a moment, before nodding. "We have enough for a small group right there. Do you want to just run a small one, or do you want to make it something big?" He asks, tilting his head as he continues with his nommage before adding. "I just gotta pick which one."

"Well I want people who are interested to be able to play. I think two or three people might be fun." Dunstin says digging into the rice, pork and veggies now. "Take your time, before we play we'll all sit down and look through the books and create characters. I use Forgotten Realms as a world so it's already a bit established but I'm not one of those guys who feels it's necessary that /just/ because it's Forgotten Realms means I have to throw Drizzt in there."

Cam rolls his eyes at the mention of Drizzt. "Oh please. R.A. Salvatore's Gary Stu." He shakes his head. "I DESPISE Drizzt." He shakes his head softly as the hair on the back of his neck raises and he looks around the room. "My ears are burning." He mutters gently before shrugging. "So, I take it you're settling in just fine?"

"Yeah, I'm managing. I miss my friends Thomas and Jason, they were in my old group." Dustin and the two were all that was of his DnD group back home. "But it's not bad here. This kidnapping thing is weird but I'm glad I didn't know any of them." I would just make it weirder. "But I was telling Six, it's nice to be in a place where people are…normal."

"I know Jono." Cam says, looking down a little. "He was kinda nice. But, he caught me at a bad moment. When… my powers were completely useless to help someone when they needed it." He's still not proud of that moment. Beating on the invisible wall that was blocking him. Nose bleeding as he pushed too hard.

"Who did you try to find?" Dunstin asks curious by that. "And I dunno, my powers are weird, I've just been trying not to roll the dice to avoid any more catastrophes." Dunstin says putting a hand in his pocket and pulling out a set of seven dice, blue and black in colour.

"There was a student here… His name was Leo. He had some problems and left to go home. Apparently, he was really close to Owen, who also left now. Owen… well… he asked me to find him. His flight home crashed. But his body was never found. I kept hitting a wall. There was something preventing me from finding him. I can find dead people. I couldn't reach him. It was like a brick wall. I was pounding on it until my nose started bleeding…" Cam says, softly. He's still sad that he couldn't do anything. And, as everything else, it tends to make him feel small and kinda worthless.

Dunstin reaches out and puts a hand on Cam's shoulder. "Sorry to hear about that. If you need some luck on your side, let me know. I'll try to roll a natural twenty for you." Dunstin says with a sigh as he picks up a d6 and just rolls it, he can't help but be curious. He rolls a '6'. "Oh shit, Nice! Maybe you are lucky Cam!"

Seeing the roll, and hearing what Dunstin's powers are in the past, he blinks. "Maybe I should try to find them. With luck on my side." he says, biting his lip. "Not that I think I can do much good, but if I can find out where they are with more detail than normal… or at least… see them. Make sure they're alright." He says, biting his lip gently. "I don't know."

Looking at the dice, Dunstin smiles. "Wow, first good thing I've rolled…." And then Dunstin's phone goes off and it's his father. He puts a finger up to Cam to let him know it'll be a moment. He disappears out to the hall for five mintues before coming back. "Holy crap, my Father just called, he just landed a deal where he has two tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway in the box seats next month. He said he'd give them to me and I can take a friend form 'that new school' he said. You…wanna go?"

Cam blinks at the unexpected departure but shrugs it off as he goes to clean his bowls out in the sink. When Dunstin returns, and asks that question, Cam looks up. He grins, broadly. "Sure!" He'd never be able to afford to go right now. His family can't really pay for him to be up here. "I've never gotten to see it live. But I love the music."

"I haven't been to see this play, but my Father isn't really the Broadway type. My mother would have loved it though." Dunstin's mother was a interesting woman, so different that his father but they did love each other. "You'll have to dress nice though, you have a tux or anything?"

There's a pause before Cam looks down. "No, I don't have anything like that. My family… well… let's just say they don't even have what YOU'VE probably got." He blushes a little. "They're southern. Mom doesn't work, and Dad does. Three kids. Not easy." He shrugs. Ah well. There went that.

"My family has owned the same business for six generations? I'm actually The Fourth." Dunstin says finding it a little weird. "YEah, not a jr, but a fourth. And my Mom, she didn't work." He was always more formal about his father but causal about his Mom. "But don't worry about it Cam, we'll find something for you."

"You don't have to. You can find someone that has it. No point wasting it on a hick." Cam says, before going to the cabinet for something sweet. Uh-oh. Cookies. He's upset.

"I didn't mean it that way Cam." Dunstin says as he's confused. "I'm sorry, I just…" He face palms and as much as he tries not to be a 'rich kid' it's there and he can't get away from it. "I asked you go to with me cause I want you to Cam, I think you're cool. I think you're fun to be around, I didn't mean to insult you if I did."

Cam pauses, he shakes his head. "I know that." He says with a nod. "I know you didn't. I just… I get like this." He shrugs softly. He does know it, too, he's just shy and a little upset at how his family is. "I just wish that my family understood the better things in life. And I don't mean it the way it may sound, but they have no culture, no class, and they think a homemade pot pie is an amazing feat of skill when that's nothing more than a bechamel, vegetables, meat, and a pie crust. Nothing at ALL hard." Well, to CAM it isn't. He pauses. "Thanks."

"Hey, I think the fact that you can cook a homemade pot pie is awesome Cam. I've never cooked before." Dunstin says as he waves a hand. "Culture…I said that because it's an image thing. Not for me but for my father, I don't care if we go in jeans but…" He just smiles at Cam and puts a hand on his shoulder. "We're gonna go see Phantom and have a fun time and I'm gonna get you a tux and you're gonna look like James Bond bad ass."

Cam blushes brightly at that last part. "I… I doubt I could look THAT decent." He says, biting his lip before his eyes open wide. "Uhm… ok. We'll go. But… I need to head bedwards." He says, looking away, shyly.

"Okay, I'm gonna head up in a bit and get some home work done." Dunstin says pushing up his glasses with a smile. "And think about what you want to play." He says as he goes to start putting the dishes he used in the dishwasher as Cam goes to go to bed.
