Barnes Academy - Living Wing

//This hub for the day to day living quarters for the students and teachers continues the motif of white alloy floors and large round portholes of the transparent material looking out into the green waters of the bay. Full spectrum lights overhead simulate daylight and there are several benches and settees built into the sides of large planters containing small trees, flowers and plants, each one a carefully tended micro-ecosystem. Passages lead in different directions like the spokes from a central hub. //

A large gust of wind whips through the Barnes Academy, it feels breezy at first, but the speeds up and picks up more. Students walk through the hallways will feel a draft and possibly a slight chill on this autumn day. Suddenly appearing in the Living Wing of the Academy a door flies open and being carried about two powerful spinning winds are two suitcases, Following behind these gusts of wind is a human sized tornado spinning round and round with Drew Daniels, the western SHIELD agent known as Texas Twister. Dressed in the standard SHIELD/Barnes staff uniform with various western symbols patches throughout. He stops spinning, but controls the winds carrying the suitcases as he looks for the staff living quarters, "Goodness, this place is bigger than I thought." Each word said with a loud Texan twang.

Having finished his classes for today Caleb is heading back to his room to change, like the rest of the school he's dressed in his dark blue and grey Barnes uniform. When the gusts start he phases to avoid getting blown about, turning he raises an eyebrow at the Texan causing the comotion, "Now thats just unnessicery", he speaks with a solid Irish accent.

"Well howdy there," He grins as he hears the think Irish accent from Caleb, "Not too worry, son. I control every aspect of these winds." He tilts his head, "No one will get blown about, but myself and the suitcases." The winds stop and the suitcases are placed gently down by his feet, "I take it from your uniform, you're a student." He grins, "I'm a new teacher here. I guess, Mr. Daniels. Or people just call me the Texas Twister."

Caleb runs a hand though his white hair and runs his violet eyes across the man and his suitcases, "Yeah, i'm a student, Caleb O'Callahan, nice to meet you", as he's been assured the winds won't bother him he unphases, "What do you teach Mr. Daniels?"

Tex hmmmns and nods, "Nice to meet you too, Caleb." He notes the boys exotic look and responds, "I'll be working with their powers and defense. I'm hoping to learn enough about each student to work with a few individually." He takes the hat off a moment to run his hands through his think brown hair and puts the hat back on, "And I'm waiting to hear back if I can teach an elective on the occult." That last statement seems odd coming from a cowboy.

"The occult?, thats magik right?", Caleb has some knowledge of magic, considering it's been in his bloodline for more than five centuriesand it's the source of his powers, the whole working with individuals thing worries him a little, it'll make things harder to get away with.

Tex grins, "That's right, Caleb." He leans against the wall and notes the staff door. A small gale pushes the door open and two circular gusts of wind spin around the cowboy's luggage and flies them through the door and the the staff door closes. "So how do ya like it here? How long you've been a student?"

Caleb watches as the bags are blown away, would it be so hard just to carry them to his room, "I've been here since febuary, it's ok i guess, it's kinda weird still living underground but we still have pretty cool facilities, just miss home is all"

Tex nods as he looks around, "Yes, I am looking forward to getting to know the lay of the land here, so to speak." He looks back and forth, "So home for you…from your brogue, I'd guess Ireland? "

"It won't take you long to figure your way around, after a couple of days you'll know this place like the back of your hand", though Caleb is speaking as someone who doesn't need to bother with doors, so his expirience might be easier than other peoples, "Yeah i'm from Ireland, a small village outside Waterford, i'm guessing from your accent and what you call yourself, your from Texas?"

Tex tips his hat to Caleb, "That's correct. from Amarillo." He moves closer to the young Irishman and extend his hand to shake, "Well, Caleb, you're the first student, I've met, so it'll be nice to see a familiar face in the classroom. Overall, how're the other students and staff?"

Caleb shakes Tex's hand, "Wait, you're from yellow?", thats what amarillo means in spanish right?, "The students are pretty cool, theres a few pricks around too, but i think you can say the same for any school, and i don't know the teachers too well, i usually just do my work and keep my mouth shut, so i havn't really spoken to any of them".

"That's correct. Amarillo is Spanish for yellow. the Mexicans ruled over Texas before the US, so it is left a biig influence, especially on city names. Finally he asks Caleb, "You're not friendly with the teachers. That's off. Well, now you are friendly with one, at least."

Caleb smiles, "I guess i can Mr. Daniels", he runs his fingers over the runes on the silver wristband on his right wrist out of habit, "What makes you come to New York, can't you teach in Texas?"

Noting the runic silver wristband on the boy, Drew responds, "Well, my team is taking a break, so I thought I'd come back to New York. I had a few adventures when I first got here. And I remember when a program like Barnes existed when I was young. SHIELD trained me with my powers, so I thought I'd give back." He makes it obvious he is looking at the wristband, "Whatcha got there?"

Caleb looks down at his wrist, "It helps focus the magic in my blood, but for some reason it doesn't come off anymore, you seen one before?", he's seen loads, every male member of his family has had one for the last five hundred years.

Tex studies the wristband for a good long minute before shaking his head, "I am not too familiar with runic Celtic or Druidic magic. My occult research has dealt more with demonology. And I am far from an expert." He smiles, "So what does the magic allow you specifically to do?" He stands back expecting to be shown something.

Caleb raises an eyebrow, demons?, his grandfather mentioned them before, but Caleb always just assumed he was going senile, the "i want a demo" look is actually very familier to him (his twin always had it when Caleb could do something he couldn't), "So far i can fly, phases though solid objects, fire energy and turn invisable", with that he does.

Nodding his head approvingly, "That is very impressive, Caleb." He claps his hands together a few times, "You wold make a great spy with your intangibility and invisibililtiy, but you have defensive powers with the energy you can fire. I presume eldritch or magical in nature." Texas Twister studies the boy both to see how he can help, but also should something arise.

Caleb grins and reappears, "Errm thanks, but i still make noise and stuff, unless i really focus that is, and the energy tends to fire off in whatever direction it feels like sometimes", he leans against a wall, "So do you just make tornados or is it all wind you control?"

Drew grins, "It's all aspects of wind. I guess I would be described as an aeorkinetic, but it manifests through wind and tornadoes." He leans against the wall and and stretches a bit, "Well seeing what you can do is impressive and hopefully I can help with any issues." He tosses the heat into the air and lets a breeze hold it up while he ruffles his own hair using another small breeze, "Hopefully the other students are as nice as you…and not easily goaded into juvenile things…like pranks. Which would make using power fun too."

Caleb has only been tempted into a prank once since he got here, when he kind of haunted a jerk who kept annoying him, but there have been several reports of a boy matching his description fighting crime on the news, "Tornados?, that sounds pretty destructive, cool".

Tex laughs, "It can be. Which was kinda awkward first. You'd have a small crook trying to break in somewhere when suddenly a massive tornado whips them back and forth. With practice and SHIELD's first attempt at a school like this, I learned how to control it, so I can make things from a small cooling breeze to a massive tornado." He sighs, "Can be scary."

Caleb grins, "Sometimes danger can be one hell of a rush", thats why he's constantly taking on Dingo, plus the guy REALLY irritates him, still he'll have to bear in mind home much power Tex packs, sometimes he's a little slow at phasing.

Tex grimaces and nods in agreement, "Very true." His voice lowers as he says that as he speaks from experience and possibly not a positive one. He rises and stretches, "Well, Caleb. It was nice meeting you. I should unpack and check out the lay of the land here, but I'll be sure to schedule you for a class." With that he heads towards the staff area and goes to unpack in his room.
