Xavier Mansion - Attic
Every wall is made of glass up to the domed ceiling. Storm has really done her work up here over time and turned it into quite the indoor garden. The room is separated into different parts for the different plants that are in there. There are flowers, vegetable plants, herbs, shrubs, small trees and much more. There are plants that shouldn't even be able to be found in this northern climate but they thrive up here. Anyone wanting to come up here for fresh herbs, fruit or vegetables are welcome to steal from the indoor garden. Depending on the time of year, various different species of flowers and different fruits and vegetables grow. In one area there are a few small fountains and a bench with some fresh dirt on the ground with trees and plants all around. It seems like a good spot for meditation.
If Robyn could be holed up in the art room, he would be, but with the broken arm he can't really do any sculpting so he's opted to hole up in the attic. It won't be the first time he's fallen asleep up here and it won't be the last. He just hasn't wanted to deal with too many people, though when he has to he's been in pretty good spirits about it. Just, sometimes you don't want to answer the questions. He hasn't wanted to go into his room either since his roommate is the future asshole venison of Connor so right now he's curled up in an area of the attic passed out on the floor among the various flowers.
With a rather large *THUMP* James parks himself on one of the couches, the force of his flailing leap sending the sofa a good several feet from its original position. There's a loud SQREEEEEEEE the hyena surfs to a stop, cushions dislodged as he peeks over the edge at Robyn, asking rather loudly, "Did I Wake You?"
Robyn sits up quickly with an intake of breath as he's startled by the sudden asking of 'did I wake you'. "What's going on?" He asks as he rubs his eyes with one arm. "James? Oh…yeah, you did wake me but I probably should have been woken up anyway." He says stretching as he makes faces as he works out the kinks in his body as a hard wood floor isn't comfortable. "I have a bad habit of sleeping anywhere other than my bed."
"I noticed," James says, doing his best 'Kilroy was here' pose. He looks over at the arm, "Are you still busted up? I'd have thought by now Doc would have had one of his healers do their mumbo-jumbo and fix it." He squints in a suspicious manner, "You seriously need to get that off." His body moves to sit more normally, his large form now upright, "Why’re you up here today?"
"Doc hasn't been around so it's just the machines. I guess the arm was the worst so it's still healing." Robyn says not really wanting to get too much into it but he can't help but add one thing. "It's just, I wanna sculpt, it helps me clear my mind and I don't have that right now so, I guess that's why I'm up here. Just trying to relax and get away. I…I don't want to risk running into my 'roommate' or anyone with questions. I dunno." He says with a shrug as he moves to sit next to James. "What about you?"
The gnoll frowns at the response, "Dude…you seriously need to learn how to take things into your own hands. Doc's on 24-by-7 call. I get a splinter and I'm down there pushing the emergency button. Seriously…if I can wake him up at 3 am to remove a pencil from Jos…someone's nose…which I had NOTHING to do with…then he can take a few minutes to look at your arm." He squints, "Tell ya what…next time I'm free I'll help you out down these." It's nearly a threat…James 'help' that is…and is probably worth avoiding at all costs. After mking sure Robyn has enough room on the couch, James shrugs, "Ehh…avoiding drama, my room, and everything in between."
"Yeah, I'm pretty much doing the same, avoiding drama and my room." Robyn really doesn't want to chance running into Connor. "And alright, you can drag me down there later and we can bug them. The sooner I can start sculpting the better." It's his outlet. Robyn lets the comment about the pencil being shoved up someone's nose completely slide. "So why are you avoiding your room?" He asks with a bit of concern, though if James doesn't want to answer, he's not going to press it.
"Cause I need it cleaned," James responds nonchalantly. He fuzzes out a little, following the comment with, "Lucas is movin' on up to the 'East side. So…rooms all mine. I want his books and stink outto there.." There's a heavy inhale through the creatures nose, "Glad he's finally gone…no more 'James 'ah named my hair lice afta' ya.' conversations."
Robyn nudges against James and nods, he knows that it's a lie that James is glad Lucas is gone but he doesn't dispute it. "Wait…Lucas has hair lice?" He asks before letting out a sigh. "I dunno James, things are just…I don't know if I want to stay here or run away, ya know? I mean, did I make the right decision staying here? I had two opportunities to leave recently, I just…I hope I made the right choice for the right reasons."
James smiles at the nudge, but offers his paws in response to the question of choices, "That's kinda your thing to decide. I mean I'm barely capable of making decisions that don't end with lawyers using terms like 'grievous injuries.' But, if you ask me, the only way to take this place is on a day-by-day basis." He pulls one leg over the other before changing his mind and sitting on his feet, "Place sucks…being a mutant sucks… Places out there may suck worse."
"The people here don't suck…that's why I didn't follow Jordan. I couldn't follow him." Robyn says wondering if choosing his friends over his boyfriends is a good thing or not. "He wouldn't tell me the details just that he was 'doing something'. I..didn't get a good feeling off of it and besides, I gotta watch out for your, don't I?" Robyn says obviously teasing James as he really doesn't feel like he has to watch out for his friend, probably more the opposite.
"…And disarm all my bear traps before the other kids find them again?" James says with a grin. He avoids as much of the topic of Jordan as he can. He's bad enough at relationships…no need in hurting the one Robyn is in. "Yeah…well…sometimes a mans gotta do what he's gotta do, right? Sides…I like that you decided to stay. Gives me someone SANE to talk to."
"Wait, you think I'm sane?" Robyn says with a grin as he knows compared to some of the kids at the school here… "And I'd say keep the bear traps armed, there's a influx of new kids so I believe it's hunting season for you." Is it a good thing or bad thing that Robyn encourages James. "James…let's avoid our rooms tonight and barricade the rec room off, grab a gallon of ice cream and just hole up in there for the night. I just….I don't know my room feels different without Connor…our Connor, there."
"Ehhh, I'm gonna go back to my room. Rec room is too social on a Sunday. You 'can' come back to my place, though. Empty bed now that Lucas vacated. And it's free of all the Taras, Jinxs, and Connors of the world. And best of all, no one comes around. Too afraid." The latter something the hyena has worked long and hard at.
"That..sounds good." Robyn says in regards to heading to James' room to crash. Though the mention of the name Jinx kind of surprises him but again, Robyn keeps his mouth shut about it. "Well, at least I'm not too afraid of your room, though yeah, most people are. There's these crazy rumours that go around that you bite."
James gives Robyn his best plain, sobering look, "Those aren't rumors." To the rest, he shrugs, "Think nothing of it. Maybe we can send Connor back to Zack's if Captain Jack Wagon's going to be staying here much longer. I bet him, Quenton, and Boy Blunder would get along great." He gives that a half-thought….which is 3/4ths more though than he gives most things, "Come to think of it, maybe we 'can' get you moved into my room. Beat having to break in a new roommate." And he does mean break, too.
"I was former roommates with Zack..not Connor..and..that's something I'll have to think about." Robyn says as he takes a deep breath as it is something to think about he just gets along with Connor well and he doesn't know how Connor would handle him leaving. "I wouldn't mind rooming with you but if Connor is himself again, I..I don't want you to end up with an asshole of a roommate or someone like Zack but.." It's just hard for him to think about.
James shrugs, "No one rooms with Zack. His ego takes up all the space from what I hear. As for Connor, I'm not asking so much as making suggestions. I'm a scavenger by nature. I see someone throw out a perfectly good roommate and I wanna at least see if they're any good before I try selling them on eBay."
Robyn really is torn with that choice. On one hand he knows James doesn't get along with a lot of people, not like he gets along with him and Lucas. On the other hand, he knows that Connor's OCD and nightmares would be a lot for another roommate to handle and he wishes he could be there for both friends. "Rooming with Zack was…he doesn't really have much of a personality. I just remember him complaining about you and that's about it." Which obviously makes Zack a moron in Robyn's opinion. "I'll admit, I kind of jump on the chance to get out of that room."
There's a snort and a laugh, "He has a personality…the type that never graduates. Perpetual student 'cause that's all he's got going for him." James nods deftly at the idea. Bitter, naaaa. "Well, you just let me know. Who knows…maybe the next guy to come through will be a better match for Connor and his OCD and random crush thing." There's a deep sigh and a head shake.
"Who knows, that's the problem." Robyn says with a shrug. "The newest kid I met, Alvin, seems to claim he's a walking zombie plague thing. That sounds like a great person to room with." Not that Alvin seems like a bad guy just sleeping next to someone who claims they're going to plague you isn't comforting. "Yeah…I will. And that's if they'll let us switch rooms even."
James starts using a claw tip to pick at the sofa's arm, the fabric starting to fray as he considers that conundrum, "Well, if it's something you decide you want, I can take care of the rest. I'll make it in everybody's best interest to put you in my room." There's a devious smile, "Otherwise, I'll introduce the new kid the same way Michael Jackson did his kids…over a balcony and a three-story drop."
"Just as long as you don't do that to me, I can't fly." Robyn says as he looks at his arm. "So tomorrow, I'll call Doc, see if he can heal this arm and such. Then I can get back to hiding in the art room." Though is it really hiding if most people expect Robyn to be there?
James clasps his hands and pops his knuckles, "No one can when you involve hedge clippers and quick-dry cement." To the rest of the news he nods, "See that you do…Doc isn't a fan of my brand of helping. So, you'd be doing him a huge favor by beating me to him." He smiles and gives Robyn a playful shove, "And I'd like nothing more than too see you 'hiding' in the art room again."
"I don't know if I'd be a fan of your brand of style of helping either, I just view that it'd be more painful than this is right now." Robyn says as he nudges JAmes again and grins. "Well I think I'm gonna head down stairs and find something to eat, I haven't really eaten much today." And of course there's the stomach rumble on queue. "I'll be by your room later to crash on Lucas's bed, okay?" He says as he's only been in his room to get dressed.
"You're probably right," James says with a smile. "Alright, I'll see you in my room. I'll leave the door unlocked." He stands to leave, giving his friend a quick hair tussle, "See any No Fears, grab me one. They were running low the last time I was in there." And with that, he goes to leave as well.
