Xavier Mansion - Emma Frost's Office

Miss Frost's office is not as white as one would expect, however it does present an overall theme in the room. Using a classic den/office style structure from the building, the hardwood floor has been mostly covered from entry to desk with a white carpet that has been decorative bordered in an ivy-pattern, with the center having a delicately done floral arrangement. Two plush white leather chairs sit slightly staggered and angled facing a white marble topped desk of dark-stained oak, the Xavier Academy logo in front emblazoned in a polished steel. Atop the desk is materials for physical writing as well as a dual-monitor computer system that seems keyboardless, instead having a single mouse-like interface device. To the right are a pair of striated white marble book-cases filled from top to bottom, in the center of the pair a marble fireplace that burns sedately despite the time or season.

The left wall has a series of file cabinets sitting next to another computer desk, this one with a standard keyboard and mouse with the academy logo floating sedately on the screen. Next to those is a table where mail seems to be laid out next to a carafe of what is either coffee or tea, and a small pile of cookies, which seems to vary day by day. Behind the carafe is a small containers for sugar, fresh cream, and honey.

Behind the desk is a bank of windows facing northwards, running practically from wall to wall, bordered on both sides by silver-embroidered sheer silk cloth, so even when drawn you can make out details outside, and so long as day is present, line pours in to give the room a sense of warmth. For the times when more light is required, it comes from the vaulted office ceiling from a tasteful-looking light and fan combination. Just behind the desk and on the right side is a second door with a hand-print scanner.

The summons having been sent earlier that morning, Emma does not sit at her desk, rather she sits in one of the chairs, after having turned them to face each other somewhat. Sitting on the small coffee table is a small jewelry case with the school logo on it, which she picks up after a moment and touches, nodding to herself before turning her head to look at the door. At the moment Jinx might approach to open it, the standard voodoo-trick happens and the door unlocks and opens slightly for her.

Jinx was reaching for the knob, instead, she is left standing there with her eyes gone wide. A parlor trick, but the oldies are some of the best, sometimes. "Ma'am," Jinx drops in a light curtsey after entering the room. She wears a short-sleeve button up shirt and a short plaid skirt. "You wanted to see me?"

A very slight, but pleasant grin comes from the older woman as Emma motions for the girl to sit. As usual, her perfume while light for others might be a bit annoying for the skunk girl, as well as the scent of the air freshener in the air, and the fresh cleaned floor has the acrid tang of whatever product was used, "Yes, I would like your assistance in a project, Miss Vallon. Specifically, in testing something that I feel would be of good general use to yourself, and others who have had feral adaptations."

Jinx's brows draw together slightly as she moves to sit in the chair. She sits very straight, with her knees together and her hands in her lap. "What is that?" she asks, then after a pause, she continues. "I would be happy to help something that would benefit other students, ma'am."

There's a brief rise and fall of eye cultured eyebrow at the seeming primness of the girl, but as soon as it comes, it passes, her scent not carrying the usual emotions on it… a sign of someone in good control. Reaching down, she opens up the jewelry box, and inside is a silver pendant necklace, the pendant in the shape of the school logo. The metal looks polished to the point it almost looks like silver or platinum, the chain to match. Emma pushes the box towards Jinx, and then replies, "This is a prototype for a new perception filter. It is designed to run off your body's natural bioelectric field, and it is meant to help dampen your enhanced senses as needed. So during the normal school day, or out with friends… you may function as any one of them. If you are willing, please put it on and slide it under your blouse, Miss Vallon."

Jinx's brows lift higher. "Oh wow. Okay…" She is apprehensive, naturally, but also sorta excited by the possibilities. She reaches for the item, and lifts it out of the box, admiring the sparkle in her dark palm for a moment. She does as she is told, sliding the necklace over her neck and letting it drop against her chest. She fusses a little with the pendant part. "So it will block smells and stuff?" She asks, looking around with an inhale to see if it is working already.

Emma shakes her head as at first nothing happens, "Right now, the device is reading your biometrics… there's a wireless link via the school's medical system that is reading your body at the moment, checking your reactions to stimulus. In a few seconds, you should begin to experience a dulling of all senses. This will adjust over time, fine-tuning to your responses independently, even sometimes enhancing them as your biology allows. After this, if you still wish to wear it and let the experiment continue, we will download the necessary applications to your school phone for it to be monitored, and for you to make adjustments or turn it off if required." With that, she sits back, and she waits for your reaction to the inevitable and initial muffling sensation.

Jinx listens in that vague way teenagers do when they have a new toy in their possession. Jinx squints, sniffing in as the world slowly begins to muffle. "Woah…" she murmurs softly, the scent and sounds becoming an undercurrent. It is a startling sort of thing in it's own way, and the skunk puffs a little in unconscious defense. "This… it'll take some adjustments, but I am willing to try it out. Thank you, ma'am."

Emma offers a small smile once more, and then nods once, "Please… give it another minute or so for the system to stabilize itself. Then, all I would ask is if you would be willing to note any oddities that occur during the day? Unfortunately, since the devices must tune themselves to the user, it will take several days to adjust to a fully comfortable level. Knowing what to expect will make things easier on us to help others." As she speaks her voice sounds initially distant from you, as if she was speaking from down the hall, but as she goes on, it seems to increase by small increments until it returns to a soemwhat normal volume.

Jinx nods her head, her purple bangs bobbing against her muzzle. "Okay. I can do that… take notes," she brushes her hair from her eyes and breathes a soft sound. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Ms. Frost. I never thought I was one of the favorites of the school, but then in the case of this device, it is probably safer with me than with James." Who would doubtlessly enhance the device with toothmarks.

Emma holds up a hand to forestall any more of that, "Of all the feral expressed we have in the student body, you are the only one who I believed would be responsible and diligent. My only reservation is that you may find it works at cross purposes to your pheromonal empathic projection. But that is why we have given you an off-switch. Just in case." Sitting back finally, Emma gives the girl a long look, "I want to show you all that we are not simply sitting here, waiting for the next disaster to happen, and that our only care is just ensuring you have an education. It seems I have my work cut out for me, so in small things like this…" Motioning to Jinx, "I am endeavoring to rebuild a foundation of trust."

Jinx is silent a long moment, her eyes leveled on the blonde. She nods her head. "I will be aware that things might not work as I expect. That is both good and bad," she twitches her nose a little. "I guess I'll just have to see." She moves to rise then, dipping in another small curtsey. "Thank you, ma'am. " She doesn't get into the whole trust thing, anxious to go try out the new device.
