NYC - The Avenger Mansion (Training Room)
//The training room is just that. There is a large, springboard floor, weights, punching bags, yoga mats, a shelf of practice weapons, and the ever important sound system. Anything you could possibly wish to train for, physically speaking, can be done in this room. //
Some light rock music can be heard coming from the Training Room down in the Avengers Mansion this evening. And anyone going down there will find a new face to the mansion. One that not everyone knows belongs there. Miguel Santos, also known as the Living Lightning, is at a punching bag. Dressed in work out shorts, a t-shirt, and with a strange blinking device around his left arm, he's giving the bag several punches. Anyone who's able to recognize Hawkeye's moves will note this guy's gotten lessons from the archer in purple at some point.
Even though She-Hulk is on the reserve list for the Avengers, they've been kind enough to let her use their facilities at will due to her alumni status. Tonight, she's making her way to the training room to give herself a good workout while she's in human form. She's dressed in sweats, with her hair tied back into a ponytail, with the rest of her clothes in a gym bag. Hearing the music coming from she peeks her head in. "Hello?"
Miguel glances over after a few punches and smiles. The man gives a couple more and a kick before catching the back and settling it. "Hey," he greets. "Guessing you're not Spider-Woman without the red and yellow," he jokes a bit.
Jennifer shakes her head, walking into the room proper. "I'm usually a foot and a half taller and a lot more green," she explains. Setting her bag down on one of the benches she walks over to one of the mats and starts to stretch out. "You're a new face, though."
Miguel starts to say something when he gets the mental image and blinks. "I'm Miguel, also called Living Lightning. Just left the Reserve Avengers list and returned to active duty," he introduces himself with a smile.
Jennifer walks over to the new Avenger and holds out a hand. "Jennifer," she introduces herself formally, "She-Hulk. Welcome to the team."
"I had a feeling you were going to say that," Miguel admits. "Thanks. Though the team's not much with just you, me, and Spider-Woman," he chuckles a bit.
Jennifer shakes her head, stepping back and continues to stretch. "I'm not on active duty, actually," she admits. "I left being a full time Avenger to pursue my legal career." She grunts, as she stretches out a particularly tight spot in her legs, "Ngh. But they let me use the facilities anyway since I've been a member since forever, and this is the best gym in the state."
Miguel blinks. "Well…that's even less active members than I thought," he remarks. "No wonder Spider-Woman seemed to be in such a bad mood," he mutters, moving to weight machine. "This gym is nice. I liked the one we had back out on the West Coast though. Nice big windows to let the sun in while we worked out."
Jennifer once done with her stretches she goes over to one of the treadmills and starts it up at a nice slow jogging pace. "It seems that the Avengers have had a lot of problems keeping people to stick around. I don't know why, though."
Miguel shrugs. "Spider-Woman told me Captain America and Iron Man were off on missions but did not mention anyone else," he says, starting up leg lifts. "Perhaps I'll ask Firebird if she's interested in returning to the active roster in my next e-mail to her…"
Jennifer begins to puff as she jogs in place. "Well, if you guys ever need my help with anything, my firm knows about my ties with the Avengers and have allowed me to take some weeks of leave if an emergency pops up." She gives a rue chuckle, "I just can't do that too often."
Miguel chuckles. "I imagine not," he replies. "Especially not in the middle of imporant cases," he assumes. There's a pauses as he switches the machine from leg lifts to leg presses. "We seem to have an AIM problem these days."
Jennifer rolls here eyes at the mention of AIM. "When do we /not/ have AIM problems?"
Miguel shrugs. "They're not really active out on the other side of the country. I was beginning to hope they'd dissolved until I found out they've been causing trouble here in New York," he says.
Jennifer nods, a sheen of sweat beginning to form on her face. "They're worse than cockroaches," she says, puffing with breath. "Then again, New York is a trouble magnet."
Miguel chuckles quietly. "Well, atleast I know I won't be bored out here," he remarks, moving off the one machine and heading for a stationary bike. "Oh yes, I didn't get a chance to ask Spider-Woman but…what is this I hear about Avenger Children?"
Jennifer looks quizzically at Miguel. "Avenger Children? You mean the Young Avengers?" She chuckles, "Sometimes we get teens and young adults that are entrusted with powers beyond their years. We get them and train them to uphold the Avengers ideal. That kind of thing. Kind of like what Xavier's does for mutants."
Miguel blinks. "Well, this is all certainly unexpected news," he says, starting to pedal. "I was unaware of any such group or that the Xavier Institute was anything more than a school…"
