NYC- Thompson Square Park

Thompson Square Park is a small park in the middle of Mutant Town. The benches might need a fresh coat of paint, the fence might be rusted in places and the pavement is raised and has cracks but it's all part of the mutant haven and fairly relaxing. Trees and grassy areas are in between the many paths, there are a few structures and benches along the path as well as a special area of the park that is marked 'the dog walk'.
//Two trees have been planted in the park as a Memorial to Carmencita Florez and Detective Baxter each with a plaque stating the tree is in their memory. //

Evening in Mutant town finds Vinny in his usual practice spot. Though he's not practicing. Having given Jeremy a call to meet about an hour before he's simply waiting for him to arrive.

Jeremy was surprised to hear from Vinny but at the same time he was happy to hear from him. Walking into the park dressed in a pair of jeans, a long sleeved shirt, gloves and scarf he walks towards the spot where he usually meets his friend. Spotting him the small smile that Jeremy usually reserves for friends crosses his face. "Hey Vinny. I hope all is well."

Vinny smiles and gives Jeremy a wave "G'day Jeremy. Things are well enough, how's tha Barnes academy treatin' ya these days?"

The wave is returned before Jeremy shrugs. "It's okay, the classes are fine just had some trouble with one of the teachers is all. It's no big deal." He says giving a second shrug. "I hope everything has been good with you, I haven't heard about much trouble in Mutant Town lately, which is good?"

Vinny nods "Yeah things have been pretty quiet, I just wanted ta get in touch with ya so I could let ya know I'm headed back ta Australia fer a bit. Residency Visa is expiring soon and I'm not gettin' it renewed right now. Gonna go see my folks and go walkabout fer a bit, get my head together and get back ta my roots."

"Oh." Jeremy says sounding a tad bit disappointed but after a bit he nods. "Okay, thanks. For letting me know, I hope you have a good time there but…I'll miss you." He says looking down at his feet and rubbing the back of his head like he's a bit shy about confessing that. "But, that'll probably be nice and relaxing though, the change of pace." He says looking up and giving a small smile.

Vinny nods "Yeah, I kinda need a break from all this. Comin' here's changed me more than I care ta admit and not always in ways I think are good. I been mullin' over this decision since tha whole Kick Fiasco ended.. just need time ta decide what I'm gonna do with my life from here without every jackass and his brother tryin' ta decide it for me. I miss our sessions, tryin' ta help ya helped me in a way, kept me grounded. Let me know I was more than some walkin' weapon ta be dragged inta one side of this 'war' or tha other. Ya saw me fer who I was and what I knew, rather than what I can do and for that I'll always be gratefull."

"Sorry I wasn't always able to come to you for lessons they were helpful, really. Not in stopping me from seeing things but helping me learn how to sort them in my head without feeling as overwhelmed." Jeremy says. "And I'll always be grateful for everything you've done for me, you've done more than anyone has for me in year." Jeremy says looking at Vinny and for once looking him in the eyes rather than shyly away. "I hope you sort things out with yourself, and thanks, for letting me know that." It means a lot to him that he made a difference in return.

Vinny smiles "Well I won't be totally out of touch, Miss Frost at tha Xavier's School is lettin' me keep the Smartphone she gave me. Says it has a global service range so we can still stay in touch. I figured I'm gonna see my folks fer a bit then hit tha Bush and go back to the Aboriginal tribes that taught me ta use my powers in the first place. Give me time to sort through everything I've learned here."

"So it's okay if I call you if I need anything? Like, someone to talk to?" Jeremy asks a bit timidly. "I..I actually made a few friends at Xavier's. More than I have at my own school." He says which he doesn't know if that's a good thing or not. He looks at Vinny as if he wants to give him a hug, but Jeremy stops himself afraid what would happen if he used his powers instead he just smiles. "That sounds like a nice trip, I wish you the best while you're there just, you're going to come someday? Right?"

Vinny nods and stands "Yeah mate call whenever ya need, just remember there is a time difference." He winks and offers a hand "I don't wanna keep ya out past cerfew I just wanted ta make sure we talked before I left. Didn't want ya comin' here lookin' fer me only to find out I left that country."

There's a nod from Jeremy. "I'll only call if I really need to and thanks. I would have been really worried." He admits. "Thanks, they're pretty strict about my curfew at Barnes but I can't complain, they didn't kick me out." Something he is more than grateful gain. "Thanks again Vinny, for everything. Really."

Vinny nods "My pleasure, an definately let me know if ya graduate before I get back. I'll make a trip in just ta be here for it."

"I'm a junior so it's going to be at least another school year after this one." Jeremy says with the slightest of chuckles. "Have a safe trip good luck on your journey."

Vinny smiles "You too mate, ya stick to yer schoolin' and hopefully those folks can help ya get a grip on things where I couldn't. One'a these days I hope I can actually shake yer hand without ya havin a fit."

Jeremy extends his gloved hand. "Well as long as I have gloves on it's okay. It's just the direct skin contact as long as there is something in between I won't see the last twenty five years of your life. I promise I won't drop out of Barnes, it's really the only thing keeping me going and I don't want to lose it."

Vinny shakes the gloved hand "Safe Travels, and never lose faith in yerself Jeremy. I'll let ya get back ta school now and I gotta go take care of a few things but it was good ta see ya again."
