Xavier Mansion - Observation Deck
Glass windows surround the circular room giving a full view of the school grounds. Two telescopes sit in front of the window for students to looks at the stars. A few comfortable chairs are placed up here for students to relax. Its a quite place up here that allows the fresh air in through sky vents in the summer and is well heated in the winter.
Skyler has decided to retire for the evening up at the Observation Deck, usually because it's pretty quiet up here at this time of night. The excitement of meeting a new roommate is outweighed by a worry that, despite all her assurances, Sklyer's girlfriend may not have such a great reaction to having a girlfriend now, instead of a boyfriend.
Daisuke has heard from a little bird in the wall that Skyler was up here and decided to head up himself. Steping off the elevator looking quite refreshed is Daisuke and he has a package in his hands. "Skyler! I've been looking for you." He says heading over to his friend and giving her a hug. "You're your siser again I see."
Skyler chuckles, standing up from her chair to return the hug. "Heh, yeah. She said she needed a new wardrobe for the new year. You know what that means." She chuckles and shakes her head. "At least this time I walked away with some clothes, although some of it is stuff that I'd never be caught dead in."
Daisuke laughs and hands Skyler a box. "There, Merry late Christmas and all that. Sorry it's late but you know, I was Japan but anyway." Daisuke looks refreshed and like it was a good trip for him. When Skyler starts to open the box inside would be two button up shirts that are decent for a guy or girl and a nice wall scroll with a hand panted waterfall scene.
Skyler unwraps the box and pulls out the shirts and the scroll. She blushes a bit and says, "Aw, thank you, Dai. I didn't get you anything, though. I didn't get /anybody/ anything this year," she says with a sigh. "I was too busy being Peter Pan."
Smiling Daisuke shrugs. "As long as you like it, it's fine. I just had a great time in Japan and talking to my grandmother, got a few things taken care of." Dai says looking down. "I'm, gonna leave and go to college, I..need to move on and become less dependant."
Skyler grins, carefully packing the gifts neatly back in the box. "Hey, that's cool. It's my senior year, and I still have no idea what I'm doing with myself once I'm done here," she admits. "I know they'll take me here, and I'll be able to do… I don't know… something. But, yeah, I think after this year, I'm done with the place."
Daisuke smiles and runs a hand through his hair. "I just need to go out and stop using this place as a crutch. I'll still try to come back to practice my powers and see Jared and Eddie but if you're not around the school, I won't have to come back to visit you. I'll just have to go where ever you are. I'm thinking of applying at ESU."
Skyler snerks. "My sister will be very disappointed that you're not going to go to NYU," she jokes. "But, yeah. What are you going to be majoring in?"
"That's the thing, I have no clue. I could go to art school? I'm good at that, but it isn't something you can make a living off of. I don't want to go into boring business though. I might just do a general studies thing." By the way Daisuke talks, it's easy to tell that he's thought about this quite a bit. "I could go into translating?"
"Linguistics?" Skyler asks with a frown, folding her arms in front of her. "I don't know. Do you like to learn languages?" She shakes her head. "From what my Mom always said I gather that the fist two years of college is usually spent figuring out what you're going to major in."
"I just meant more Japanese to English and vice versa since I'm fluent in both." Daisuke says as it does sound quite boring. "Well if your mom says that, then I guess I'll follow it. I just really don't have any idea. I'm gonna end up an X-Men more than likely so what does it really matter?" There's a bit of a annoyance to his voice as he says that.
Skyler scowls at that, her arms tightening about her in annoyance. "Please. There's more to life than this place," she says. "You just need to find out what kinds of things interest you, and head in that direction." She chuckles and shakes her head, "And you don't need to be here to find that out. In fact, I think this place kind of stifles it since there's /so/ much weirdness that having so many mutants together just kind of attracts. You need to go out, live a normal life for a couple of years and see what floats your boat."
Daisuke sighs and shakes his head. "No, it's not that, it's just, I saw my future. When Eddie, Julian, Jordan, Jared and I got stuck time traveling? I went to the futre and I found out that in the future I might be an X-Men, I dunno. I just don't know if it's true or not but I sometimes feel like I'm on a predestined path after seeing that."
Skyler shrugs at his friend. "I don't know. I think it's just /a/ possible future. A future that /can/ happen if you let it. You still have a choice in the matter, I'd say. You don't have to go down that path."
"Well, I'm getting away from here for now, I'm gonna do my own thing and get a job." Daisuke says taking the first steps to being an 'adult'. "I gotta go and help a student with their school work, the whole tutor thing. I'll see you around Skyler, and shit, before I go, how are things with you and Robyn?"
Skyler looks briefly uncomfortable with the question before quickly hiding it away. "Well, things are good. Especially now that her sister has, well, realigned reality to make her outside match the inside." But even then, there's more to it than that, and only somebody who knows Skyler as well as Dai does could pick up on that.
Daisuke looks at Skyler and raises his eyebrow. "You sure you don't wanna talk about what's bugging you? I can tell there's more." Daisuke says ignoring things for his best friend, after all, he can read Sky very well.
Skyler struggles for a bit before sighing, dropping her arms to her sides. "I don't know. It's nothing, but Robin's straight, and I'm a girl." She shakes her head, "She said it wouldn't make a difference… but I really don't want to put it to the test."
"Well you can always copy me Skyler, I don't mind, you know that. Especially if it helps with an awkward situation." Daisuke offers hoping it might help. "I mean, that is, if you don't want to put it to the test."
Skyler considers the offer for a moment before shaking her head. "No, I think it's going to be put to the test sooner or later. I think it's better if I know sooner rather than later." She sighs, and says, "I don't really think I have anything to worry about, really. But I still worry."
Daisuke smiles at Skyler and nods, giving his friend a hug. "I'm sure it will be fine Sky." He says trying to be confident. "I really wish I could talk more, I really do but I gotta get going. Tomorrow, lets meet for lunch." He says wishing he could talk more but he's left that one student waiting enough.
Skyler gives her friend a hug in return and lets him go. "Thanks for the shirts," she says, "And the scroll. I'm going to have to hang that up." Once Daisuke's gone down the elevator, she chuckles to herself and flops back down in one of the chairs.
