Xavier Mansion - Medical Bay

The Medical Bay contains the latest medical equipment to patch up students and X-Men with the smallest and worst injuries. Six beds line the walls for injured patients. Equipment lines the walls, medicine in the cabinets, and more serious medical supplies locked in cabinets. One this about this room it screams sterilization.

'Kaylee,' as she likes to be known, is looking more like regular old Cale today as they wander into the medbay - wearing a set of the pajamas (sweats?) that were given out after the destruction of the dorms - one can only go so long wearing the same old thing, as much as she'd rather be wearing his/her own clothes… The lizard mutant's hair is done up in a simple ponytail as possible; though it'll still be easy to mistake her gender one way or the other. "Nick? Shane? Are you still in here? I brought you guys some food again… and a couple movies."

The PS Vita that was a gift from Emma Frost has finally been cracked open and Nicholas currently watches a movie from Netflix on it. The headphones are in his ears and his eyes are focused on the small screen. He pulls out the headphones and presses pause upon hearing his name. "Hey Kaylee. I think Shane's sleeping right now. I was just watching a movie now that I got the Netflix app working." He pretty much just heard his name so he didn't hear mention of movies or food.

Warlock is hovering about a foot off his bed and finding it really confortable, it's tiring but the only way to strenghen his powers is to use them. He looks over as someone enters the room and sighs, he misses being able to come and go as he pleased.

"Oh! Well, that's cool. I kinda forgot these things had that," Kaylee replies, waving her own Vita a little nervously, "Anyway. Like I said, I brought you some food and some movies to watch I was able to scrounge up. I know you said you liked this one," she digs around in a plastic bag for a moment, producing a (slightly scorched) copy of Tombstone, before looking over at the floating Warlock curiously.

"I gotta learn to fly." Nicholas comments after seeing Warlock just floating there. "Thanks for the food Kaylee and yeah, I do like Tombstone. That was one of my DVDs that didn't survive the attack. I just don't have a DVD player or anything to watch it on. Part of why I got Netflix, also it was a cheap way to get access to a ton of movies rather than just paying for a small handful. So how are you holding up?"

"I can try and teach you when we get out of here, apparently I do it telekineticly so you should be able right?", Lock nods at Kaylee in greeting, "Hey", he looks back up at the ceiling, "So what's happening topside?"

"I'm alright," Kaylee smiles, "Not that much really. Everyone's kinda recovering still. I don't think you guys're missing a whole lot by being down here. I mean, you get an actual bed and stuff," she laughs, rubbing the back of her neck. "Not that I would trade you, I don't think. I'm sure I can scrounge up a DVD player. I woulda thought they'd have one down here already," she looks about, green eyes blinking as she notices for the first time how sparse the medbay actually is. "They give you an idea of how long they're gonna keep you this time?"

"That's the best part about being injured!" Nicholas says wincing from chuckling at his own lame joke. "Stupid ribs. I'm sure as soon as my ribs are healed I'll be shoved in that other room with you guys. I can't believe how packed it is in here." He shakes his head. "No, no idea. I can leave the room but only for light things like moving from here to the danger room to relax with one of the settings they have or to move to use the bathroom. That's about it though. So what kind of food did you bring?"

"Well, I got someone to sneak out to Harry's for me…" someone who shall remain nameless. Maybe Kaylee did it herself. Of course, the /smell/ should give it away, as she produces a bag of foil wrapped objects. "I figured maybe you guys'd like something from the outside world, all cooped up down here, so I got some hamburgers. And onion rings and stuff," she nods, unwrapping one and peeking at it. "Do you like cheese and bacon? Or without? I got a few different kinds."

"You got burgers? You're awesome Kaylee." Nicholas says as he's finally used to calling Cale by Kaylee no matter how they look. "Let me get a burger with bacon and cheese and some french fries. The food here isn't so great, I mean some of it's pretty good but it's no burger and fries. So how's your sister doing? I haven't really gotten to know her too well. She's just as positive as you it seems though Kaylee."

"She's doin alright. I think she's pretty mad she didn't get to take part in the fighting though. I mean, that's kinda her thing," Kaylee nods, digging around in the bag and producing the requested food for Nicholas, as well as a cold can of coke pilfered from the supply upstairs. She herself chooses the first one, with no cheese or bacon on it, and a diet coke. "I mean, she is, yeah, but it's also kind of a front she puts up. I think."

Nicholas shakes his head. "No one should ever be mad that they didn't get involved in that." He says bitterly. "It's a fight, people were injured, she should be happy she's safe. It's not fun having broken bones." He doesn't understand why anyone would want to be in the middle of that. "Only reason I went, I wanted revenge and there weren't even any Purifiers. She doesn't have to put up fronts here, doesn't she realize that?

Kaylee shrugs, "I dunno if she actually means it. I mean, I can't speak for her. But I know she jokes a lot just to release the pressure. It's. I think she still feels like she has to act tough to protect me," murmurs the girl, shoulders hunching over slightly. "That's the way it always was before. It's hard to get over that kind of thing. I dunno. I worry about her. She's kinda like you. Totally stubborn." she grins.

Nicholas raises his eyebrows at Kaylee. "Hey, if I'm stubborn it's only because I'm German." He looks at the burger and peals off the tomato and lettuce, he likes just the meat, cheese and ketchup. He then smothers the french fries in ketchup before starting to inhale them. "Well I think you can fend for yourself well enough here, I haven't seen anyone picking on you."

"Yeah, I get along much better here than I did at my old school…" Kaylee trails off, looking around, "I've made so many more friends here. I mean, even Quenton, grumpy as he is, I get along with…" she laughs a little, "But even if someone did, I'm not really the same person that I used to be. I won't just sit around and let someone treat me horrible. I used to think, you know. I deserved it, kinda. That it was my fault," she munches at the hamburger; seeming more interested in watching Nick enjoy his food than actually eating hers. That is, after all, why she bothered bringing it. "But I mean, you taught me different. Well, you and the rest," she pauses for a moment, staring at her food. "Sorry. I didn't mean to get all mushy. Anyway. I wanna see this place get rebuilt. I wanna see Mutant Town freed. People shouldn't have to. You know. Live like that. It's not even about revenge. Or fighting."

"I don't think any of us are the same person we used to be, some for the better and some for the worse. I know I'm not the same person." Nicholas says as he picks up the slice of tomato he took off of his burger and eats it separately. "I don't mind the veggies but I just like to eat them sperate when it comes to burgers, I'm weird. Though it's never your fault Kaylee, noone deserves to get treated horribly. Well, not noone maybe those Purifier douchebags like that one that was on television calling us all terrorists do, but…I agree. I wanna see this all be over."

"I was thinking, I could. You know, maybe dig up some dirt on these guys. Help discredit them in the public eye. Most of these guys," Kaylee pauses, munching on a bite of hamburger, "Most of these type of guys, if they're really anti-something, they're usually guilty of being whatever they are against. You know, like how all those anti-gay preachers get caught with male hookers or little boys. That kinda thing. I bet they've got some real skeletons in their closet. Or we could, I dunno. A tleast try and find out who's funding them."

Nicholas starts to pick at his burger, eating bits of the bun, getting a bit uncertain about Kaylee's words. "Kaylee, I am the dirt on those guys. They murdered my family and Bodie, they kidnapped me, Quenton, Warlock and Connor then tortured us. I have more than my share of scars from them. Then they attack our home….we are the skeletons in their closet. They try to make it look good, being all righteous and godly but are doing every horrible thing imaginable. I highly doubt they preach the benefits of good health to being subject to electric shocks over and over and over again."

"I know, Nick. But that doesn't sway the public opinion in the eyes of people who hate mutants. Or whatever," Kaylee sighs, shaking her head, "It has to be something that makes them lose credibility with THEIR side. Like one of them having a mutant for a kid, or BEING a mutant themselves, or something along those lines. As much as I hate to say it, people don't really care about death. I mean, that's the natural conclusion from all this, that's what they WANT."

Nicholas completely loses his appetite and pushes his burger away. He hates talking about it, he can't stand it. Talking about it just reminds him of everything they've done to him. Nick gaze falls down and focuses on his off PS Vita. "I can't help you, I can't help you with any of that stuff Kaylee. It's so easy to talk like that and wish those happy thoughts but it's not real! But then you're lucky, you don't know what they can, and will, do to you if you're caught."

"But that's the beauty of the whole thing. We don't even have to leave the campus for this sort of stuff. It's just a lot of research," Kaylee murmurs, eyeing the hamburger for a moment and then looking back up to Nick. "Heck, it doesn't even have to be TRUE, as long as we can get people to believe it. Look, I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have brought it up. But I know full well what people like that are capable of. Or did you forget what they did to my sister, before we rescued her? Sure, it wasn't the Purifiers. But a racist is a fucking racist," she growls. "

Nicholas closes his eyes tight, taking a few deep breaths. He starts to pull up his knees as if he wants to curl up into a ball. "You don't know Kaylee. You haven't felt it, you've seen it but you haven't felt it. I haven't forgot what they did to Amy. I can't help you with this stuff Kaylee, I just can't." He doesn't want to tell Kaylee what they did to Amy was nothing compared to what him and the others went through, he doesn't want to belittle what's happened to Amy. "Just understand Kaylee, I cannot do this." He's practically begging.

"Chill, I'm not asking you to," Kaylee furrows her eyebrows, looking down at knees for a moment, "I'm not. You don't have to do anything you don't wanna do. That's all," the girl replies calmly. She breathes in deeply for a moment.

Nicholas's hands grip his hair for a bit as he just focuses on breathing for a while. "I hate them so much Kaylee that it burns in me." He whispers. "I just can't help but think…if things were to go wrong, what if they got their hands on me. I can't go through that again."

Kaylee slides off the bed for a moment, laying her hand on Nick's shoulder. "It's okay. Look, they're not gonna get you again. If they come through again, we'll be ready. More ready," she assures him, if a bit shakily. She reaches up for his hand wrapping her fingers around his wrist, slightly concerned that he's about to tear his hair out; she tugs on it gently. "Just, I dunno. Don't think about it. Think about something else."

"It's impossible not to think about it Kaylee." Nicholas' hand is at least easily removed from his hair and he lowers his other hand. "I have nightmares about it, I have trouble breathing sometimes because of it. I have to do other things, like watch movies and play video games to keep my mind off of it. Then people just start bringing it up and I feel like I need to just get away."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to - I mean, I didn't… realize it was that painful for you," she lets go of the hand momentarily, slumping a little and falling back against the adjacent bed. "I don't know what to think about. Or do. I'm just trying not to go crazy. Honestly. Everything I've ever had is just, gone. I mean, I know it's just stuff," she sighs, running a hand through her bangs. "I feel like some kind of refugee or like I'm gonna become one of those crazy homeless people you see muttering to themselves on a street corner."

"It's the second time I'm having to go through it Kaylee. It sucks. I guess I'm lucky where I didn't really have enough time to grow attached to anything and the one thing I was really attached to some how survived." Nicholas pulls over the Browncoat that Shane made him using his telekinesis. "It's burned and torn in some parts but I think it actually makes it look better.

"Yeah, it does make it look more like the real thing," Kaylee smiles, giving the jacket a once over, "I guess it's good that it survived. I mean, out of everything, right? It's probably the coolest thing you had, for sure. And well, Shane made it. Right? I dunno," she glances over to the side a bit nervously.

Nicholas nods. "Yeah, Shane made it for me for my birthday. After I got sucked into Firefly. I should rewatch that series later tonight." He puts the jacket back and leans back slowly in the bed, wincing a bit. "Orion's the coolest thing I have. You have to admit, owning a horse is pretty badass. If I still had my truck…man I'd be the coolest guy on campus." It's hard to tell if he's joking or not.

Kaylee pffts, "You're already the coolest guy on campus," her face turns red for just a moment, "And owning a horse is pretty badass. Though, I dunno if I'd call him a thing! He's like, your friend, right? Speaking of which… is he doin okay? You need anybody to check on him?"

Nicholas shakes his head. "No, I'm not. Quenton and I are vying for role of biggest emo asshole on campus." He takes a deep breath and shrugs, totally oblivious to Kaylee's compliments. "Orion's doing okay, he's in the hanger bay for the time being. And he is my friend, he's half of what keeps me going. I don't want to think how much worse it would have been if I lost him."
