Xavier Mansion - Right Path
/A brick path off the courtyard cuts through the grass to lead to the other areas on the outside grounds of Xavier's. There are a few benches that line the path so students can sit and enjoy outside. Either side of the path the grass is well manicured and has enough room for students to have a picnic, play Frisbee, or relax and study. At night there are small lamps that raise three feet off the ground to provide light.//
Daisuke doesn't really enjoy the rain but he was out in the woods when it started to rain and now Dai's trying to make his way back to the school before getting soaked, he's unsuccessful. Running down one of the paths to the dorms, he spots Sophie standing there outside. "Hey Sophie! You get stuck in the rain too?"
The voice quickly draws Sophie's attention, as she turns around to face the approaching teen. "Hey Dai!" She responds, holding a hand up for an offered wave. "Stuck out here? Naw. As soon as I saw the rain begin to roll in, I immediately head outside." Her left hand is pulled up to push the collected water from her hair with her fingerssplayed out like a comb. "I've always been a big fan of dark and stormy days like this." She smiles, slipping the partially soaked hood from her jacket over her head. She looks over to the woods. " What'cha up to?"
"I was looking for a good spot in the wood to paint before settig up my paint stuff when it started raining and I am..was..am? on my way inside." Daisuke says pushing back his wet hair. "At least I know I can't get sick."
Sophie chuckles, one hand beginning to fish around inside her jean pockets. "I'd agree that you /are/ on your way inside, but I guess that could change depending on how you look at it." Her head cocks slightly to the side after the words escape through her lips. "Hmmm… apparently I can't talk today. Forgot I ever said that." She laughs a little more, her eyes wandering back over towards Dai. "Well, I can get sick and I'm going to stay out in the rain a little longer. So why don't you?"
Daisuke chuckles. "Actually it made sense to me." He admits as he shifts a bit in the rain as if he's trying to get away from the rain but it's impossible. "Why not, I can find Jared later. So what's up with you Sophie? How have you been lately?"
Sophie nods her head with much enthusiasm, her smile growing only larger. "Excellent." She says point blank, and taking a quick step to the side. "Let's wander towards the mazes." She says, pausing just to turn back and wait for Dai. "Lately? Well, not too much I guess. Just sort of doing my usual thing; collecting tons of records. Oh, got some you really need to hear." Her eyes wander back over towards the maze. "How about you?"
"Sure, the hedge maze sounds good." Daisuke says with a chuckle and starts to lead the way over there. "Oh cool, just let me know when. I guess I've been a bit busy lately since meeting Eddie's half brother." Daisuke says with a blush. "Though I've been really good. Really really good lately."
Sophie begins to follow Dai, but immediately stops. "Wait, Eddie's got a half brother?" Bitting down on her bottom lip, she watches the other teen through squinted eyes. "Wait, maybe I knew that… I think I did." She begins walking towards the hedge maze again, her hands resuming back into her jean pockets. "Seems like it's been forever since I've hung out with you…"
"Well kind of, it seems Dr. Parker Mayfair had a son that he didn't know about, Jared and Jared is my roomate..and.." Daisuke says with a smile and blushes again. "I know it does seem like forever and with the invasion going on a while back and then the fact that I've been spending a lot of time with Jared and just everything, it seems like I've been a lot busier than I realized. Sorry we haven't hung out recently."
Sophie nods, her hand finally emerging from her jean pockets with a crushed, soft pack of cigarettes. "Ah, it's not just your fault. I mean, I've hardly been around lately. Been taking bus trips to a lot of the nearby cities, hitting all the record shops I can find. Figured I've been out here long enough that I should see more of the east coast, right?" A single cigarette is pulled free and stopped just before being placed between her lips. "Oh, hey, mind if I smoke?"
Daisuke shakes his head. "Nope I don't mind at all." Since cigarette smoke doesn't bother him in the least. "What records did you end up picking up Sophie? And sure, I haven't seen much of the east coast though. So..anyway Sophie…I started dating someone." He says figuring he should tell her since they're good friends.
"Thanks!" She says, letting the little cylinder rest in between both lips as a lighter is also removed from inside the crushed pack. There's a quick click as the metal of the wheel hits the little piece of flint, causing a flame to rise. She's quick to get the paper lit, knowing all too well how difficult it could be with a little bit of rain. "Oh, grabbed some nice Kraut rock stuff, real hard to find. Can, Neu and some Amon Duul." The last word ends with an expulsion of smoke, the cigarette pulled away and her mouth hanging open. "What? You're dating someone? That's awesome Dai! Who is it?"
"I've never heard of any of those but that's cool." Daisuke says with a chuckle as he keeps trying to wipe some of the rain that's in his face but it doesn't help with a wet sleeve. "Well, it wasn't anything I was expecting and I didn't even know I'd be interesed in a guy but Jared. Him and I really clicked well and he's a great kisser." Dai says blushing quite a bit but then Sophie's a good friend he can share that with.
"NO WAY!" Sophie yells as she turns towards Dia and gives him a rather playful shove. "Who would have ever guessed you'd be dating a boy. That's awesome Dai. Now I feel bad that I haven't even met him." The cigarette is brought back up to her lips as another drag is exhaled into her lungs. "So how long has this been going on? I mean, I can't possibly have missed something that's been lasting for months, right?" Each word begins to sound less and less sure, the little teen knowing all too well how absent she's been lately.
Daisuke smiles and shrugs. "I didn't think it would happen but he's just really cute and we get alone really well and how long?" Daisuke trys to think about how long. It's been a while. "I don't know, right before the end of the invasion so…A little over a month?"
Sophie looks a little sad as the time frame Dai's been with his boy friend is stated. "Aw, sorry for not being around. I've realized I've been sorta a shitty friend lately." Another stream of smoke is exhaled out from her nostrils before slowly descending in little twists and turns up towards the rainy sky. She then turns to the other teen with a soft smile. "Well, it's good he's really cute, right? Hate to see you date someone that's, well, odd looking."
Daisuke can't help but laugh at Sophie's last part. "Oh man Sophie.." He says shaking his head. "No, no, don't be sorry, you've been just a shitty of a friend as I have been. We've both kind of been doing our own thing. At least we're catching up now?" He says looking at the bright side.
Sophie nods, a smile quickly returning to her lips. "Ah, I guess you're right." She begins to say, trying to stifle down laughter. "You are a shitty friend Dai!" It's too much for her to hold back, as laughter begins flooding out from the little teen. Once it begins to subside, she takes another pull from her cigarette. "Yeah, I guess we are, right? Thanks."
Daisuke can't help but hug Sophie and laugh as well. "And I don't know if you noticed but I think Mr. Summer's put another 'mutants wanted' noticed in the paper cause there seems to be a lot of new students lately." Daisuke says as he's nice and soaked now from the rain, shivering slightly.
Sophie returns the hug, also soaked from all the rain and shivering slightly. "Yeah, I think I have noticed that. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork these days. I swear a new one arrives each week." She bites down onto her bottom lip, looking sideways at Daisuke exhaling any retained smoke. "I almost feel bad. I mean, the way things having been happening in the world, sort of a rough time to just be figuring things out." The much smaller butt of a cigarette is tossed down onto the damp walkway and grinded down with the sole of the little teens shoe. "Not to say I'm some sort of expert, but you know what I mean, right?"
"I think so, like with our powers and just trying to live a normal life, it's like there isn't time for both of them and we're expected to do so much at times?" Daisuke offers hoping he got it right. It's hard to explain. "I think I'm going to head inside Soph, I'm freezing out here. We gotta catch up again soon and go out for food. I'll drag Jared along or something." He says so the two can meet.
