Chilling Admissions

NYC - Nowhere

//Nowhere is a community bar, with a slightly old world feel. All of the tables and chairs are made of wood, though there are some couches in a slightly offset room with green fabric. The music varies, depending upon the Owner's music taste for the day. Beer and Liquor are both served, but are both carded for as well. //

At the front of the bar, right as one walks in,is a large sign. "Superhuman friendly establishment. There will be no tolerance for disparaging remarks based on one's genetic status. Any fights will not be tolerated within the bar. The management holds no responsibility for where combatants are teleported."

Everything's back to Normal. Both good and bad. Nik's… a little annoyed. Sure, he's been busy and hasn't been spending too much time with his friends, but he was actually having a chance. And now… Ah well. He can't let it depress him. The bar's quiet in the mornings, as usual. Just the resident drunk over in the corner as he cleans.

Hilary is back to all his usual manipulations and unpleasantness now that his powers are back, and is back to—well, he never really stopped drinking too much, did he? But he's back on his morning drink schedule, of course choosing to favor Nowhere with his patronage. He steps up to the bar. "Back to normal, are you?" he wonders.

There's an obvious wince from the teleporter as he turns around. Eyes glow a bright blue as he looks down sadly. "Yeah…" He says, running a hand through his hair. "I was gonna call you, but I didn't know what to say. I mean, how do you say, 'Hey! It's been REALLY great, but I guess I'm too cold now and I don't wanna give you frostbite.'? It all comes out sounding really cold and callous." He admits. He might have had a drink or two himself today.

"May I have a drink first?" Hilary wonders. He's good at cold and callous. "I'll have a Manhattan." Apparently he really is serious about having it first, as he then keeps quiet until his drink is served.

Nik nods softly, locking down his own opinion of Hil's response. He goes about mixing the drink and passing it over. He should have known it was coming, honestly. But, he didn't. He's unfortunately optimistic about life. He can't help himself.

Hilary smiles when it's delivered. "Thank you," he says, and has a good long sip of it. Then he looks up at Nik. "You do look /much/ more interesting this way, you know."

"I know. It's… what I'm used to. I just… really enjoyed the last few weeks." Nik shrugs. "Thanks." He says, trying to figure out what to say or do next, but failing completely. He's just not good at things he has no experience with.

Hilary looks over at Nik, lifting a brow. "Do you suppose you'd literally give me frostbite?" he wonders, tone a bit idle. He has another leisurely sip.

"No, I don't think I'd actually give Frostbite, but I wouldn't want to spend an entire night unclothed and consistently snuggled up for fear of it. I'm sure for certain things, it'd simply be a kinky little chill." Nik says with a cough. He shakes his head. "Not that I should be thinking like that.

"Why not?" Hily wonders, the eyebrow that barely had time to settle rising again.

"Because I don't know where things stand with the one interest I've had in years. I just need to cool my brain off and go back to my normal way of thinking. That there's no need for it." Nik pauses. "Sorry. You don't need my depressing thoughts. I'll shut up now." He takes a moment, coughs, and puts on his smile again.

Hilary does need them, actually, but he doesn't comment on that. "You're not interested, then?" he wonders, sipping his drink instead of reaching for cigarettes.

"I never said that. If I wasn't, I wouldn't have been hanging around you so much for a while. I'm just… I don't want to hurt you… and I'm worried that things won't work well because of my chill." Nik says, turning a bit blue around the cheeks. His form of a blush.

"I suppose they might not," Hilary admits, "But I don't see that either of us actually knows one way or the other ahead of time." He takes another sip that ends up with him already finishing the cocktail.

"So… you're not… against it?" Nik says, hopeful for a second before he catches himself. "Oh, scuse me. Well, if you're willing, I'm willing to try."

"Okay," Hilary agrees quietly. "I have my own drawbacks that we'll be working with, anyway. So perhaps I'm willing to be…flexible." He gives a quick, arch smile.

"Oh, I'm already plenty flexible." Nik chuckles, bending backwards over the bar. "Comes with the territory of dancing in cages from time to time." Regularly.

Hilary blinks at that information. And Nik's little move there. "Well. Probably moreso than I, then," he admits quietly.

Nik laughs, watching Hilary's reaction. Of course, he's now in quite a better mood than he was before. Thanks to the acceptance of potential. "Well, then… Another drink?" He asks.

"Yes," Hilary answers. "I think I'd like to be quite drunk when I arrive at work today."

"Perhaps I'll join you, then." Nik says with a laugh. "I'll have a replacement in a few minutes." He pours another for both of them this time. And makes them larger. Hey, it works for him.

Hilary smiles at that. "Wonderful," he agrees, taking a glass from Nik. "You're possibly my favorite bartender of all time. Quite possibly."

"Oh, good. I hope that's not only because I want you." Nik says with a chuckle, winking as he slides around the bar. The other daytime bartender steps in at that point. "Timing. That's what it's all about."

Hilary shakes his head. "No, that's only one of many advantages," he responds. "Mostly I think I like the way you tend bar. Which is what I look for. In a bartender."

"Well, he's the bartender now, and I'm over here." Nik says with a grin. "Though I can move back and forth as need be until you're done. So…" He says with a chuckle, letting everything just happen for the next little bit.
