History
From early on, DJ's father would take him to the radio station to listen in and get a feel for what he did. Mainly, because he enjoyed it and thought that DJ might as well. As a matter of fact, he was quite right. DJ grew up with a profound love for music, and nearly anything that goes with it. DJ took singing lessons and dance lessons and excelled at them. He did so well, in fact, that his school sponsored him to apply for Juilliard on his singing alone. And… he was accepted. Most of his extra time was spent between Juilliard for his classes and dance classes outside of it.
While it kept him away from his parents in Ohio, DJ made a lot of friends in the business. He excelled at both arenas and simply went out of his way to push himself further. Eventually, he graduated from the Pre-College division and went into the college division of Juilliard to actually have some accreditation.
His first actual non-school gig was with a travelling broadway show. This was when DJ's life really took a turn for the strange. The tour went to Hawaii. Of course, they were doing an extended stay there, to give the actors a little rest, and DJ was taking FULL advantage of the surf, sun, and fun. In his hotel, however, his room was accidentally placed away from the others. But, that was fine. He liked having a semblance of privacy.
As he came out of his room to get ice one evening, his neighbor bumped into him and just stopped… and stared. After a few seconds, she just shook it off, murmuring and walking away. A few days later, DJ chose to take a tour of some of the volcanic areas. His neighbor happened to be there with him. She was beautiful, too. Long dark hair. Native Hawaiian appearance. All around exoticism. While they were touring, the tour guide was talking, but everything he said was what the tourists wanted to hear, so he struck a conversation with his neighbor.
What happened next was a very strange set of happenings, that DJ just thinks was a crazy dream. But now, he's back home, in NYC, and performing on broadway in the biggest show of the current age. Wicked.
