Xavier Mansion - Sophie and Skyler's Room

Slightly bigger than the old room, the new rooms fit two students comfortably. Each room has off white walls with a dark brown carpet. There is one window in the middle of the wall that looks out over the grounds. Each room has two beds, two dressers, two desks and two closets, one for each student.

Skyler's gruff voice can be heard coming up the hallway, talking to somebody. "… I'm telling you, this will make you feel ten times better about yourself." His certainty sounds about as unshakable as his voice. "You just gotta do what's in in your heart. If anybody gets offended or weirded out, well, it's their problem."

Robin's soft voice replies to Skyler's, "I know, I'm just…" The voice trails off, but pipes up a couple of moments later. "It makes me nervous. My old hometown, they probably would've /crucified/ me if…" and again, the worried, soft voice trails off.

Sophie is sprawled out across her bed, the soft hum and circular scratches from the record player are quietly playing in the background, the music turned down so low as to almost be drown out by the needle touching down across the black plastic. She holds a book between her hands, the lamp sittingon top of her desk the only light source turned on. Her eyes peer over the paper edges, watching the door as the sound of two voices from the hall make their muffled way inside her dorm.

Skyler forgets to knock out of habit and just walks in on Sophie. He looks just like Logan, but it's clear that it's not Wolverine because of several key differences: One is that he's clean shaven, the other is that his hair is neatly combed. "Here's my other room," He says gesturing to the room. "We should…" his voice trails off as he finally notices that Sophie is here. "Oh, um. Hi Sophie. This is Robin."

Robin follows after Skyler, his arms crossed in an uncomfortable manner. A blue, Robin-sized humanoid also floats into the room, clapping and seeming generally excited. Both the blue person and Robin pause when they see Sophie, exchange glances with each other (presumably out of habit), and at the same time raise their hands to offer a wave. While Robin's is quick and nervous, the blue floating thing waves enthusiastically. "Um, hi Sophie," says Robin after being introduced.

Despite the noticeable differences between Skyler and Logan, his sudden arrival still causes a quick double take from the little teen laying across her bed. "Whoa, when did that happen?" She questions, biting down across her bottom lip as a look of disappointment begins to creep across her features. They're quick to fade as Sophie's attention is drawn over to Robin and the blue humanoid floating along with him. "Hey, there." She says in response.

"About a week ago," answers Skyler offhandedly. "After Robyn accidentally blasted me with Mr Summer's powers. It was either this or spend a long time in medbay." He studies Sophie for a moment before moving in and inviting Robin to sit down on a stool in front of his dresser. "I'm sure I've got something that'll fit you."

Robin glances down at the stool and takes a seat. He glances towards Sophie and adds, "Oh, and that's Blank. She's my puppet or something like that." The blue humanoid waves again. Robin starts to nervously play with the ends of his hair, saying to Skyler, "Are you sure? I guess you probably have all kinds've things, though, from all the changing…"

"Oh, sorry." Sophie quips back. "Kind of like to disappear from time to time, but of course part time living with me, you'd know that." She turns towards Blank, offering up a half smile as she waves back to the creature. Her eyes then follow to Skyler, pausing only briefly before moving onto Robin sitting on the stool. "So, what'cha two up too?" She says, looking a little puzzled. Then suddenly it hits her, "Wait, you're getting… for?"

Skyler considers his words carefully when he responds, "Well…. Robin here doesn't have a lot of experience in dressing up as a girl. So I was thinking that since I've got a lot of experience in that department, plus my theater background, I could make hi.. her pretty."

Robin covers his mouth with his hands when Sophie looks puzzled and he says, "Oh gosh, Skyler didn't say… ?" He reddens a little bit and says quietly to Sophie, "I'm sorry. I hope you don't feel uncomfortable or anything…" Blank, meanwhile, just silently claps when Skyler refers to Robin as 'her'. While Robin has no difficulty hiding emotion, Blank gives pretty much everything away.

It's not too tactful, but Sophie begins to laugh. "Oh, no, it's not a big deal. It's just, well…" She pauses, biting down across her bottom lip as her next words are quickly pondered. "… I mean, I'm just not sure Skyler's the right person for the job." The book is tossed down across her bed as Sophie pushes her feet down towards the floor. "No offense Skyler, but even when you're a girl, well, you're still pretty much a dude." She stops half way to her closet, giving Robin a quick look over. "Hmmm… not sure if my clothes will exactly fit you, but you're more than welcome to borrow any of mine."

Skyler rolls his eyes at Sophie. "Oh, please. I can be pretty girly if I wanted to," he says rummaging through his closet for some clothes. "It's just that I try to keep my wardrobe generic so that I can fit into anything that I turn into." He pauses holding up a blouse and glancing at Robin before shaking his head and putting it back. "Besides, I spent YEARS doing make up for the theater. And my sisters. Hell. My youngest sister came to me to learn how to put it on instead of my older sister." He chuckles at that, "She still hasn't forgiven me for that."

Robin looks taken aback at the laugh. He blinks a few times in surprise, but relaxes a bit once Sophie offers an explanation. "Oh, um, well, the only time I ever did anything like this, it was a long time ago." He rubs at his left eye briefly, under the painted lens of his glasses. "I need all the help I can get, I think." Robin smiles good naturedly and watches Skyler going through the closet with interest.

"Whatever!" Sophie retorts to Skyler's remark. "And that is the problem; you keep too much generic clothes around so you don't always have to keep buying new ones." A disgusted look crosses her face as Skyler holds up the blouse, her tongue quick to stick out at him when he turns around to place it back inside his closet. "Unfortunately, you are way too tall for my clothes, so we'll have to rely on Log-ler over here." Moving back towards her bed, Sophie plops down at the edge, eyes glued to Sklyer.

"I'm not made of money!" Skyler protests, vehemently. "And I don't have infinite closet space," he adds after a thoughtful pause. After a bit more digging around he pulls out a long, ankle length skirt, and matching blouse. Simple, yet feminine. It turns out that Skyler's eye is actually fairly good for this kind of thing. "Here. Give this a try,' he says handing the outfit to Robin.

Robin gets up from the stool to take the skirt and blouse. He looks at the items briefly with an interested, happy look on his face, and then Robin glances around the room. "Umm, where should I get dressed?" Both Blank and Robin repeat the searching action and then Robin just looks back and forth between Skyler and Sophie.

Sophie shrugs her shoulders as the skirt and matching blouse are pulled from Skyler's closet. It's obvious from the way she dresses that she would never be considered a real girly type girl. "Hey Skyler, not bad!" She says, her voice split between a forced and somewhat real surprise. A smile is then offered up to Robin as he appears more than eager to grab the set of clothes from Sklyer. "Oh, I can leave the room until your done." She says, moving quickly to the door and then slipping out into the hall.

Skyler nods, and follows Sophie to give Robin a little bit of privacy while he changes. "Sorry to suddenly barge in on you like that," he says softly to Sophie, a heartfelt apology. "Especially with this. The poor guy's so confused."

Robin appreciates the privacy, but he notes to Blank, "I kind of feel bad driving them out of their own room." The puppet doesn't react to the statement and Robin does his best to get ready in a timely manner. He takes a bit to figure everything out, but after a minute or two, he manages to get dressed. "Um," Robin says through the door, "you can come in now."

"Ah, it's no big deal, really." Sophie says, pushing her at the center of her large plastic frames back into place. "Wasn't really doing anything important, just reading more or less for enjoyment, you know." She too begins to speak in rather quiet voice. "Yeah, I could imagine. More than happy to help too, I mean, I can remember being really confused when I was younger and was unfortunate enough not to have anyone understanding around." Her head snaps to the door as Robin's voice cuts through. "Time to head back in, I guess." The door is then opened and Sophie slips back through into the room.

Skyler lingers a bit to watch Sophie walk back into their room before quickly slipping in behind her, shutting the door after him. He walks around Robin, sizing her up and down with a critical eye. When he makes a full circle he scowls and shakes his head. "I knew I forgot something." With that he goes back to his dresser and opens a drawer. "Do you want to try on a bra? Or just baby steps?"

Robin's arms make it clear why she wears a sweater in the heat of summer: it's pretty obvious that the kid is into self-harm by the scars and more recent cuts. Though Robin does try to keep it covered as possible by folding her arms behind her back. She looks towards Skyler and nods, saying softly, "I… I don't think it'd fit right on me, though. I don't have, um, any breasts to speak of…" Robin seems perhaps a bit awkard: she doesn't really know how to react. Blank confirms that this is something Robin is happy to be doing, though. The blue puppet looks ecstatic. For a faceless being, that's no small feat.

Sophie also gives Robin a nod of approval. "Not too bad." she says, a light yawn escapes through her cracked lips. "Besides, I don't really have breasts either so that's not much of an excuse." There's a light hearted laugh from the little teen, followed by a quick gesture towards her relatively flat chest. "Well, I think I'm going to grab a snack, let me know if either of you need anything." The last words are stretched out, caught in another yawn. It appears the scar across Robin's arms were over looked as Sophie makes no mention and merely wanders out of the little room with a rather wide smile.

Skyler waves at Sophie as she leaves, "I think we're fine," he says, pulling out a plain white bra. Turning back to Robin he hands the bra over and says, "Well, we can pad it out using tissue paper. If you really like it we can go and get some falsies." His eyes linger on Robin's scars, but he does vocalize any questions he might have.

Robin waves at Sophie as she heads out and then nods her head enthusiastically, "I've wanted to get those, what did you call them, 'falsies'? I read something on the internet about them. Breast forms are pretty expensive, though, aren't they? I don't have any money." She smiles briefly and then notes, "I guess we should use tissue paper, yeah." She takes the bra, and both she and Blank seem to examine it.

Skyler reaches forward to help demonstrate how to put the bra on. "Here, it's easier if you put the clasps on in front, then spin it around and put your arms through." He shakes his head at the cost of the prosthetics. "I don't know. I've never shopped for them before."

Robin shakes her head, "No, I guess not. I mean, you've never had any want to, I guess…" She shakes her head and follows Skyler's instructions. Naturally, having nothing in the breast department, she doesn't fit the bra very well at all. So she glances around while her fingers rub along her arm lightly, trying to visually locate some tissues to fill her out a bit.

Skyler rummages around his dresser and pulls out an unopened box of kleenex, and hands it over to his guest. "Here you go."

Robin takes the Kleenex tissue box and takes a few moments to carefully open it, taking out the tissues and stuffing them into her bra before turning back towards Skyler. "Um, thanks a lot for doing this. Helping me, I mean…" She tilts her head and asks, "How do I look?"

"Lumpy," Skyler says with a scowl, and a shake of the head. "That's not bad for a bit of improv, though." He sits back and considers what to do next with his subject while talking, "Well, it was pretty clear that you weren't comfortable with the way you were. We've got enough on our plates being Mutants and everything that we can't let a thing like gender identity complicate things even more." When he makes up his mind he nods, and goes back to his dresser and pulls out a rather sizeable makeup kit. "You'll find that most people here aren't going to have a problem with this. Okay. Now for the makeup. Scootch forward some."

Blank claps with the appearance of the makeup kit, and Robin scootches forward a little bit as requested. "No, I mean, I'm not comfortable with being a boy… I never have been. But where I'm from, I couldn't say anything about it. I got beat up a lot for being, umm, weird, I guess. When I told my parents how I felt…" She just shakes her head and sighs. "I've never done makeup before," she comments, looking at the kit.

Skyler opens up the multi-tiered kit that has a wide variety of stuff in it, enough so that he can deal with any kind of complexion he might take on. "I learned most of what I knew growing up in the theater," he says, picking up a light shade of blush. "Of course that kind of makeup is designed to be noticeable from fifty feet away, but the basics are there. Especially when making up a guy to look like a girl, unless you totally want to Goth out."

Laughing a bit, Robin says, "I don't think that I want to do the Goth thing, no. I just want to look normal, I guess." She bites her bottom lip for a few moments and adds, "I mean, I guess, relatively normal?" Blank just shrugs, while Robin continues to speak. "Was it neat growing up in the theater? I always wished I could participate in something like that. There wasn't even a drama class or anything at my old school, though… Too few people to generate interest."

"I liked it," Skyler says with a shrug, bending forward to start applying the makeup. "I got involved in the community theater when I was only seven, and hung out there when other kids hung out at the arcade or the parks or whatever." He chuckles, shaking my head, "My parents weren't really that into it, so I was kind of the oddball in the family."

Robin smiles and says, "I was kind of the oddball in my family, too… Is there any kind of theater programs here?" Before receiving an answer, she closes her eyes briefly, her body seeming to be paralyzed as she does so, in order to take control of Blank and get a better look at what's going on for future reference. Blank takes a few steps forward and watches intently. Despite not having any eyes, it seems likely that she can see quite well.

Skyler says, "They do," Skyler says with a chuckle. "I haven't really had a chance to get involved. There've been … other things going on my life." His work is subtle, only applying a bit here and there, to give the illusion of slightly softer features, higher cheekbones and such. He purses his lips in thought before rummaging around in the box before pulling out some lipstick. "Okay, lips please," he says demonstrating how she should pout."

Blank freezes like Robin did just before. Robin's eyes open and she pouts her lips a little bit as instructed, saying after the lipstick is applied, "Maybe I should get involved… It'll be a chance to meet people, make friends. That'd be good. And you think people here will be… okay? What about, um, the instructors and stuff?"

Skyler quirks a grin admiring his handiwork, reaching out for a mirror. "Clearly you haven't met Professor Parker. He's… well… gay doesn't do him justice." He chuckles shaking his head as he holds up the mirror for Robin to look at herself with. "He can also help with your hair."

Robin looks into the mirror, and both Robin and Blank clap the same way that Blank always seems to, though Robin's actually makes a sound. "Wow, oh, wow!" She leans forward to take a better look at herself, and then back to look at more of herself. "Wow, I look… I look not even like a boy at all!" She turns her face a few times and then reaches for the mirror.

Skyler hands the mirror over, grinning widely. "There you go," he says. "Now the inside and the outside match."

Smiling widely and looking at herself in the mirror from different angles, Robin's visible eye tears up a little bit, but she holds it back. "Thank you… Oh my gosh, I look so…" She doesn't finish, instead just moving to give Skyler a hug.

Skyler returns the hug and answers for her. "Pretty," he says, breaking the hug and beginning to put the makeup away. "I'll have to teach you some of the fundamentals about makeup application. It's always easier to add a little more than it is to take a little off."

Robin smiles at Skyler and says of the compliment, "Thank you." She nods her head a couple of times when Skyler mentions teaching, "Oh, I'd like that a lot. If I could look like this all the time, that would be so wonderful. And… I guess that makes sense."

Skyler nods, standing up and holding out a hand to help Robin to her feet. "There's a lot of people who do it all the time," he says. "I don't know any of them personally… at least… I don't think I do." He chuckles, shaking his head, "I don't usually check to see if somebody has a penis when I meet them."

Robin gets up and nods at Skyler. "Well, um, no, I guess you wouldn't. That would be kind've an embarrassing introduction either way," says Robin, laughing a bit. She really has no difficulty appearing and sounding female: her delicate build and soft voice help out a lot. "Thank you so much again. Um, I really appreciate it a lot."

"No problem," Skyler says heading towards the door. "We better get out of here before somebody comes by and gets the wrong impression."
