Xavier Mansion - Ramsey Dormitories Lobby

The lobby of Ramsey Dormitories has two elevators at one end of the wall along with the entrance to a cafeteria. On the wall are three pictures that say 'In memory of'. One is of Douglas Ramsey, another of John Proudstar and the last one is of Jean Grey. There are several couches and tables down here for students to relax. Large windows in the front and sides allow for a lot of light in the room.

It's getting on towards being fairly late this evening - maybe eight, nine o'clock. Outside, the sun has gone down, and the lobby is fairly quiet. For his part, Cale seems to be settling in for the night, curled up on a couch with some Bleach manga, reading away. He's wearing blue pajama pants and a purple MLP shirt with Twilight Sparkles on the front of it.

Walking into the dorms from outside dressed in a pair of dirty jeans and a matching dirty jean jacket over a t-shirt is Nicholas. A light brown dusty is settled over most of his clothing and on his face and hair a bit. Instead of going right up to the boys floor he flops on one of the couches and lets out a sigh of relaxation. "Hey there Cale."

Cale peeks over the top of his book at Nicholas, before lowering it further and offering a cheerful, "Hey! Go out riding earlier?" Because honestly - to get that dirty he must've done something like that. Given how annoyed Nick was the night before, he rather hopes so. Maybe it'd be theraputic or something. Although Nick's way of dealing with problems openly is prooobably better than Cale's way of just burying them. THAT can't possibly backfire at some point…

Nicholas nods. "Yeah, I spent most of the afternoon riding around with Orion. Just got back to the school a while ago since I got really lost today." He's just happy he made it back before curfew. "Sorry if I'm a bit….jerky lately. Just…I have trouble controlling my tempter lately and with that guy in there let's just say last time we met we didn't exactly hit it off."

"Eh, it's really not that big of a deal. I mean, people get angry. But you're not abusive or anything. I mean, you didn't punch me, or anybody else, for instance!" The boy grins lopsidedly, apparently serious about that bit. It was pretty much a fact of life at his old school that it was gonna happen. "Aaanyway… Theo seems…" Cale trails off, "Alright. I'm not really sure what to make of him. He seems like the type that's more concerned with his work than he is with people."

Nicholas shrugs. "Well he's not here right now so all the better." And that's all Nick has to say on the Theo matter for now. "I'm not the type to hurt people, I don't like hurting people." He says to Cale almost a bit too defensively. There's no girn on Nick's face, just the usual expression that reflects his depression all too well. "Just wish the weekend was one day longer."

"I can tell," Cale nods when Nicholas says he doesn't like hurting others. Most people don't, really! "Yeah, I guess that'd be nice. I suppose I'm gonna have to start classes pretty soon, kinda nervous about that," he yawns, tongue hanging out a little bit. "I guess it'll be okay. I've been getting kinda bored."

Nicholas shrugs. "I don't know, it's like the same subjects and stuff I was learning back home, not to much to be worried about. The only real difference for me is the classes here are a lot larger than they were back home." After all Xavier's has more kids than his High School does. So what are you nervous about with classes?"

"I dunno. New situations just make me nervous. I don't really know that many people here yet… just you and Tay mostly, and Mik. You guys're nice, but I mean. I had a lot of problems at my old school. I didn't fit in well at all… got picked on a lot, you know. The whole ball fo wax. The only reason it wasn't as bad as it could have been was 'cause of my sister…" Cale murmurs, tucking a few stray strands of hair behind one of his ears. "I dunno, maybe I mentioned it before… but… It was pretty bad."

"Then you'll fit in just fine." Nicholas says to Cale with an indifferent shrug. "It seems like everyone here but me had problems at their old school so you'll probably fit in just fine." He says as he really can't identify with that aspect of troubles. "So what's up with your sister? She's not here with you?"

"Well it wasn't just… you know. Mutant related. I mean, I wasn't even a mutant, er…" Cale pauses, "I guess I always was, but you know what I mean. That didn't happen until about a month ago. She's a mutant, too, and her powers showed up the same day mine did. She's in a hospital down in the city. They won't let her out though, or let me in to see her…"

Shaking his head, Nicholas can't help but ask, "Why does everything have to come back to a mutant thing with people? I'm not talking about anything with the mutant thing, just…I guess they had trouble with school back home." Nick then nods when he explains what's going on with his sister. "Can you at least call or talk to her? I mean, she is your family."

"I dunno," Cale curls his knees up to his chest, hugging them tightly, "They won't even let me talk to her. I think she may be in the psych ward. Some stuff happened like - well," his voice starts shaking a little, "I mean, I told you my parents were dead, right? It was 'cause someone ran us off the road. On purpose," he breathes deeply, steeling himself, "Anyway… It was in the mountains. The car went over a cliff, and I saved Amy using my powers. But I was pretty worn out by the time I go to the top, and bleeding. I managed to get us both on solid ground, and then I saw there were men there. It's blurry, they might've even had guns. Then I woke up in the hospital, over a week later. I talked to her then, and she told me we were both mutants and mom and dad were dead… And that's it. I don't know what she might've gone through. She might've killed them. They might've run away. But I am sure she saved me, again. She's always saving me."

Nicholas dosen't really know what to say to that but nods. "I'm really sorry Cale. Do you know why they ran your family off of the road?" He knows it's not the time to talk about what he's gone through so he's letting Cale speak. "That really sucks, I bet right now what you need most after all she's your only family and family is pretty much everything…or was."

"Yeah…" Cale chews on his bottom lip, swalling a big lump in his throat. "I don't know why. Mom and dad were like, the greatest. They never would have hurt anybody. They were both doctors! Mom even had this project at her company, it was some kinda miracle cure for cancer. They were like, /this close,/" he holds up his fingers, "To getting to clinical trials, but they were having issues… the company pulled a lot of funding out from underneath her for some reason, and there were a lot of office politics going on… I dunno. Then this happened! It's so stupid. Such a /waste./ Mom was a genius. Like a literal /genius./ And Dad, he was like Amy, he just wasn't afraid of /anything,/ or anybody. He could've been anything he wanted, and he chose to help people."

"Same thing with my parents." Nicholas says quietly. "They were amazing people, didn't hurt anyone and I was really close with them. Bodie was our ranch hand but he was kinda like an older brother but…because I'm a mutant it meant they had to die." He takes a deep breath and looks over at Cale. "I'm really sorry Cale, it just sucks so much."

Cale buries his face in his arms, long hair laying on top of them. "Yeah, I know. It sucks. I'm just. Ugh," he mumbles into his arms, still basically curled up in a ball. "I mean whatever the reason is, it's horrible… but I think, in my parents' case… it had nothing to do with mutants… that would just make it extra stupid and horrible. It's one thing to kill someone if you have something to gain, but to do it just 'cause they're a mutant? Stupid."

"Stupid or not, that's why they were killed. They tried to kill me too but my powers somehow saved my life." Nicholas says. "They never cared that I was a mutant, not until those purifier fucks game." He steels his jaw for a bit in silence before speaking again. "It's just not fair. I…I miss them so much. I really don't know what to say Cale, just that…the whole thing is such bullshit."

"Yeah…" Cale raises his face, eyes red from crying quietly. "I don't know. I just don't know what to do. All I can do is just act happy and hope… sometime I'll actually /be/ happy. I'm gonna get my sister back, though… and then… and then I don't know. We'll see. I don't know how, but I'm gonna do it. Right now though…" he sighs, "I'm gonna head up to my room," he slides off the couch, padding past Nick, "But. You know. If you ever need someone to talk to. I'm around…" he nods, opting to take the stairs. They're much faster than the elevator, for certain reasons…

Nicholas nods to Cale. "I gotta go take a shower anyway. And it's hard for me to pretend I'm happy when I'm not." He says pushing himself up and going to head towards the elevator. "Take care Cale."
