History

Dear Sir,

It is very strange to think of the possibilities now open to our scientific community that this letter actually reached you! We have been able to successfully integrate subjects of our world into yours, but nothing of great substance until now. It brings a joy that can only be compared to what many have considered my golden years of invention and discovery, also known as the Golden Years of Invention and Discovery. It is the sole reason of my celebrity and notoriety through out the great lands of North America. The incredible Franz Ziegler they use to call me! Now, behind my back, I am often referred to as Franz the Failure… Of course, to continue blabbing on about myself is quite pointless due to my unknown status in your world.

I will give you a brief background of my own history, something that you will unfortunately without our technology, not be able to confirm its validity. My family immigrated early in my life from the European Union state of Germany to what is mostly referred to as the Union here in North America. This, my friend, is one of the main differences I have discovered between our two worlds! Where your Union succeed in keeping a UNITED States of America, ours had failed with two nations left in the aftermath. I am sure you can imagine the various implications this fact spells out, ones that I do not need to divulge in. With this succession of the Confederacy also came many attempts at reunification as well as conquests. Though technically we have both only seen one Civil War, our once United States has been fighting on and off since that dreadful day in 1861.

We are currently in what is considered the fifth conflict between the North and the South, though the geographical borders are somewhat blurred to effectively use those terms in my opinion. The fighting has come very close to my own doorstep, as my family has lived in and around New York city since the time my parents immigrated. I have one son, Tomas, who along with his wife, Gretchen, have been raising two sons of their own. He has been hailed as a genius in his own respective field along with his wife, both being known as some of the greatest war time surgeons of our time! But it is not of them that this letter is concerned with, it is that of their sons, Francis and Morgan.

They are, as one might expect, the most wonderful grandchildren an aging man could ever want in his life! Both seem to have gotten both what my family often refers to as the Ziegler mind. They are intelligent, thoughtful and surprisingly athletic! I have a feeling this characteristic hails from their mothers side of the family, as we Ziegler's have never been known for our athleticism. Further rants aside, I will now get to the reason for this letter. I have successfully found a way to temporarily merge two worlds in this multi-faceted universe, and after much research and consideration, have decided that yours is the best possible choice to merge with my own. You, yourself have agreed with my decision, despite the fact that you still feel it very unnecessary. You see, we have been friends here in the Union for quite some time. Our respective employers work closely together, which is the sole reason for any such acquaintance. I am not charging you as the provider and protector of my grand children, but asking that you please take them into the care of your educational facilities. I would send the correct allotment of money for their education, but have found that our currency would be deemed rather useless in your economy, so instead I have provided a wonderful gift that will be found in the package that should have arrived along with this letter.

With Regards,

Franz H. Ziegler

Dear Sir,

I have decided it would be best to detail a little bit about the first child I will be sending over to your world. Francis will be the first, with a very similar letter detailing Morgan when the proper time arrives. Found with this letter will be all his medical and psychological files, records that I am sure will be very useful to your associates at the Academy. At age 18, he is found to be quite astonishing as a child! Having the Ziegler intellect, the young boy is also quite adept at athletics. His build, as you will see in his files, is that of a long distance runner! He has lived mostly in the city of Baltimore, but with the onset of the new war, has been relocated to live here in New York City with myself. You yourself even agreed that he is quite fantastic of a child!

Being as astute as he is, the boy was placed into a school for the gifted during his elementary education, a great basis to get him far ahead of the curve when it came to his remedial work! It is to be expected that one with such a great mind would find hardships in finding school companions, but as brothers often do, Francis and Morgan were able to cure that with their own company. He does not need to be coddled, but rather treated with the proper discipline, which has definitely been lacking in his household.

Like his grandfather, mathematics is one of his strongest subjects. As mentioned earlier, the boy is quite fond of running as well as other various sports. I believe Lacrosse was one of his favorites, but being as busy as I often am, I could not say for certain. I do know that he should not lack in either the intellect nor physical aspects of your academy.

I also understand that there is a very specific aspect to your academy, one that is the sole reason for your facilities and all its teachings remain a secret from the rest of society. This is why you will shortly receive a package, one that contains all the necessary equipment for Francis to excel in your program. In it you will find a specially equipped suit of armor, designed specifically for him. Among many other function, the main one that I had invented for the United Northern States of America's military is it's camouflage and phasing capabilities. A manual detailing it's entire functions have also been sent that I will assume will be kept for your academies records. Another will be sent with the boy.

You are probably wondering how so much of your outfit is known to us here in an alternate universe of your own. Let me assure you that we have been recently contacted by one of your own government, a name that I am not allowed to divulge. Perhaps in time your own agencies will find it within reason to inform you of all our transactions.

Sincerely,

Franz H. Ziegler

To whom this may concern,

I have been recently informed of a grave error within the mechanics of my own invention. It was a dumb mistake, one that I would never in all my years imagined myself making! Such a simple thought that completely slip through my very thoughts! How careless of me… The child that has arrived at your academy, is in fact the very Francis that I have been writing to you about, though with one slight change. I laughed at the ease of conquering the infinite time continuum, even going as far as to mock it! But I was a fool. I see now that I had not anticipated the depth and seriousness of what may be considered a wave-function collapse. I might as well have sent the child out to a quantum suicide!

I will try to put this down in the simplest of terms. What appears to have happened is when transferring Francis from our world into your own, time had calculated what would have happened should his family line evolved along in order for him to have be born from the same set of genetics. The first child born between Tomas and Gretchen, we now know, would have been a daughter and not a son! I can assure you that child is in fact Francis, though in a slightly altered form. Please forward him the letter of apology I have placed along with this letter, explaining to him exactly what had happened.

Regretfully,

Franz H. Ziegler

Powers - Stealth Suit

Construction -
The flat gray armor was designed with much of Francis in mind; it's very light weight, making it extremely comfortable for quick movements as well as long distance runs. It's essentially constructed out of thin sheets of titanium with several reinforced layers of silk engineered from lab spiders, but has several weak points where the joints are located. This makes the suit resistant to most bullets, though anything made specific for armor piercing will get through. It isn't very resistant when it comes to any of the elements but can take it's far share of blunt force. Of course this will not cause the person inside to be immune to any sort of physical blow; with a hard enough hit (especially from bullets) there will definitely be bruising and the possibility of broken bones. In effect, the suit acts just a little bit better than a modern day, Kevlar vest.

Cloaking -
One of the main features of the armor is it's cloaking capabilities. Through various electronics, the flat gray panels of the suit will take on a rather opaque quality, granting the user a sort of limited invisibility by absorbing certain parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Anyone with very acute eye sight would be able to see a faint and shimmering outline of the individual. The cloaking capabilities does not grant the user invisible to telepathic detection either. It also doesn't cover up any smells that could be emitted. If someone were to bump into the suit in this mode, it will feel exactly like there was someone there. It does not change the feel of the armor. Any item or person that is touched will also fall under the influence of the cloaking device, but will immediate appear of contact is broken.

Phasing -
Built within the suit is a phase generator, which allows the user to become intangible. In this mode, the armor can phase through solid objects, such as a brick wall. If the mode was turned off in the middle of a phase, it would essentially place the part of the user still in the object, and would result in death or severe injury. Though not completely immune to telepathy, the user becomes a little more difficult to connect with while phasing, as their body and mind are temporarily becoming intangible to the material world. Phasing does not protect the user from any sort of non-physical types of attacks; Lasers, Magic and the likes will still damage as usual. Phasing through electronic items tends to temporarily disrupt them, including the ones built into the armor, leaving the user momentarily communication less. Nothing is destroyed, just temporary unfunctioning. Like the cloaking, any item or person touched will phase too as long as contact remains. The armor can remain in phase status for a total of 1 minute. The larger an item or person, the less time the armor is able to phase due to the energy being input to cover the other object or person. For example, someone equal the size of the armor would cause double the energy used and half the time in phase status. When in phase status, breathing becomes very difficult, so the suit has a little, emergency oxygen tank installed that can help ease the phase ability.

Weapons -
There are a couple weapons built into the armor. It was built originally for the military, who demanded there be some sort of back up tools for the soldiers using the armor. So at both forearms are some thin knifes hidden into the plates, that with the right movement of the wrist, will detach and spring forward.

Communications -
The armor has a high tech communication system in it, which works very similar as a satellite based radio. Tuned into the correct frequency, the user is able to communicate remotely from within the suit.

Modifications -
The armor was designed with the idea that it would eventual receive modifications of sorts, so there is several areas that could easily be added to.
