Frightening Moments

Rating: R

"My name is Uatu. I am a Watcher. I am forbidden to interfere with the things that I see, but I see them, nonetheless. And lately, I have been repeatedly visited by another. Tonight, we look over the worlds to see the fear that hides within men and women. This fear… can consume one if one is not careful."

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart

Images flash across the screen. Name after name, he reads of the dead. Mutants. Families of mutants. It's eerie. The anti-mutant 'game' is rather brutal, and they include pictures of the dead. A chill runs down his spine as he reads, 'Theodore Fegenbush?' His heart catches in his throat, and he closes the laptop. Quietly, he gets up from his seat, and glances over at his sleeping roommate. The technopath doesn't bother to undress, but he crawls into his bed, staring at the model train sitting at his bedside table. A hand reaches out to the lamp to turn it off, but then retracts. There will be no sleep this night.

You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes
You're paralyzed

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Shifting in his bed, Drew Daniels turns back and and forth. Unable to draw a peaceful night's sleep, images fill his mind. Shooting Star, Victoria Starwin screaming in pain, the Rangers burning in hellfire. Barnes Academy all but destroyed. Rising from his nonsleep, Drew Daniels stands up and looks in the mirror and starts laughing as his eyes flash red, "I said I would come back." Riglevio has returned. "Texas Twister is no more!"

He should be dead. For all intents and purposes, Leo Osborne died in February. As far as he knew, that's what happened. Then, he woke up here. Troy Bay vanished from Xavier's when he went to deliver an invitation. But he has no memory of anything before the SHIELD training he undertook. At least, no clear memory. It's patchy but there. As the two stand, looking at each other, Leo speaks. "You do realize, the other people can only see one of us at a time. And they say we look the same… that we ARE the same." Troy laughs, "But we're not. You know it, and I know it. You're all light and happy. I'm sticky and gloomy." He reaches a hand over to stroke Leo's hair out of his face. "But I'm staying with you." Leo nods softly. "Does… does this mean we're crazy?" he asks, looking up at Troy with fear written across his face. After all he's been through… regaining his light now, only to lose his mind? "Well, if we are, at least you're not alone in your insanity. I'm right here with you. And… if we are, we'll find the person who made us insane, and I'll kill them." Troy's dark laugh masks the fear he has as well. He's been wondering for a while. Is his life a lie? He can't remember enough. He knows, better than Leo does, that his memories begin where Leo's end. What this spells… is anybody's guess.

You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun

Ever since he got cut by the pumpkin, things had been changing for Robyn. He had just done it again, walked into the farm house without actually opening the door, he just walked through it. He didn't understand, he was never able to become intangible before but the fact that he was now, scared him. He didn't know who to turn to since he started feeling distanced by those around him. Like they wouldn't really understand. Robyn felt like he didn't belong with him so he held onto his secrets and hid his fear from those in the farm house.

You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl!
But all the while you hear the creature creeping up behind
You're out of time

Eerie whispers on the wind, background conversations and laughter fading away as soon as it comes, things changing and becoming unlike what it was. Heather listens and watches as she explores the world, but never for a moment becoming afraid. Heather has seen the reaction of her peers to this place: they are more easily startled, anxious, worried and frightened. Maybe she really is odd, defective or insane because of this incapacity for fear. "No, I'm not," she replies to her inner narration, breaking ground with her shovel as she prepares to disturb the dead.

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes, girl

From designer clothes to designer furnishings, Jordan makes the closing deal with a judge to set the release of one of his many underworld crime bosses. He turns and sees across the street. Suddenly, a gasp. The judge on the other end of the line continues asking, "Mr. Mayfair? Mr. Mayfair?" His cellphone drops and shatters on the floor. "No…" He whispers and then drops on his knees, "Nooooo….." He looks up skyward and screams, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" His greatest fear has become a reality. Across the street Jericho and Christopher Parker-Mayfair stand across the street in their own home happy and in love.

The night plane is not fun. Stephen has gone on a mystic quest through a ritual, to gain access to a new animal form. However, this one is not playing along with the established rules. He shifts forms, wolf… bear… eagle. Each time, he gets another painful welt across his back. Did he do something wrong? It was just a new type of bear, he thought. One swifter, but not as strong. What happened in the ritual. But then, as he starts to pass out, he sees it. Black, with glowing red eyes. A bear… with the eyes of a demon…

Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masquerade
There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time

This is the end of your life

Some days it was so hard to get the memories right in his head after a day of training. Jeremy felt overwhelmed a lot of times and it was hard to focus, hard to think. So much was swimming around in his head that he wanted something to calm it down. Something he hadn't had in a long time. It had been several months since Jeremy got clean of drugs but every now and then he found himself wanting, almost needing, a hit, especially after certain training sessions. He looked down at his arm and shuddered. He wouldn't go back to that again, that life was behind him and he was afraid that if he went down that path again he wouldn't have another chance.

They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side
They will possess you unless you change that number on your dial

"I was merciful once," says Kalindi, kneeling down next to her recently defected servant in the filthy alleyway, "and you betray me again?" Her eyes flash black, and the middle-aged man crawls back in fear, knowing this is likely the last moment that he's meant for. Gold strands move over her body, the man hopes for a hero, but fears that his luck has run out. The demonic girl grins, making her final decision on his fate.

Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah
All through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen
I'll make you see

The farmhouse is quiet. Hosea is ever eager to take watch, especially since Kisha's disappearance. The only sounds are those of the precious breathing of his friends, and the ticking of a clock on the wall. The African quietly walks to the window, peering out into the darkness. Robyn has left now, and he hasn't seen any trace of him. Hosea has prayed constantly for deliverance. He has prayed that all of the members of the school would not have to know loss the way that he knows it. He's spoke in unwavering confidence, telling them that God would protect them all, and bring them home. Here in the darkness, alone, he is not so confident. He does not know how God will choose to act. They may yet all die. Hosea knows that the horizon of life is death, and so for his own life and soul, he does not worry. For the soul of every other person he guards tonight…he's terrified. For many of them, the world is flat.

There are things in his past that Robbie Baldwin is not proud of. Many things. One of which is the aspect of himself that came out when Asylum caused problems. The being he called Blackball. Sometimes, he can still feel that inside. As he gets off the phone with his father, he hears the voice in the back of his head. 'Awww, Daddy's still pissed off at Wobbie because Wobbie weaws a costume. Even though Wobbie's an Avengew, it's not good enough fow Daddy. Wobbie… should destroy him.' A darkling laugh echoes in his mind. "No… I can't do that. That's not right." But the fear is there. The fear that he could be responsible for death. Or worse, for many deaths. He can't let it happen. He can be better than that. He looks over the students nearby who are giving him odd looks. "Sorry, just lost in thoughts." He says, shivering to himself. He can't let people see him like this. He needs to be alone for a bit.

Things were so different since coming here. Travis thought he'd be able to adjust easier, just like his last school, but Barnes was too different. Also the six arms weren't helping but honestly, he didn't mind it as much as he said. Just being around all these people with superpowers and some of these people who are heroes got him thinking. It was easy to become another vigilante, easy to get bent on revenge and claim it was justice. He knew who killed his father, he knew who to blame for his life being turned around but he wasn't the type of guy to seek revenge. That kind of person scared him and he didn't want to lose himself to his own brand of so called justice.

Even in the farmhouse, there is no respite from the lingering creepiness of this odd world. Robin returns to the strange place, though, after an encounter with one of her classmates. She crosses her arms and bites her bottom lip, glancing back to where her previous conversation with Star was held. Maybe this place isn't just a nightmare, but a place eating at their minds and lives. Shivering, she quickens her pace.

Magic is not a toy to be used willy-nilly. Billy Kaplan Maximoff knows this quite well. Despite that, sometimes, he has to try things. He's been wanting to find his mother for a very long time. With that in mind, he cast another seeking spell. Something keeps going wrong with them, though. They keep leading him in circles and back to himself. He doesn't know what this means. Last he knew, his mother was going crazy. Unless… "It's telling me that I am her. No, there's no way. I was around before she died. I met her." He says, nodding firmly as he looks about the room. "Or… is it saying that I'm becoming like her. After the demon incident… no. No, no no. Not possible." He states, unsure and afraid of that. His powers, like hers, are so strong. He doesn't want to be what she could have been.

Sam Guthrie looked at file after file trying to sort through information in regards to where the kids and other X-Men and teachers disappeared to but kept coming up with nothing. He wanted to blame Selene so badly but inside, he knew she had nothing to do with what was going on. It would be so easy to this as a told you so but he was above that, and there were more important things, like finding those missing. With a sigh, Sam started to pick up another book to leaf through. What happened if they couldn't find any clues, couldn't find a way to get them back. What if they just lost too many people to a mystery? That wasn't acceptable to Sam but the thought unnerved him greatly.

The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom

A soft piano tune is played, Index's fingers deftly moving over the keys. Until, that is, a slight wave of heat seems to pass over the back of his neck. He stops, spinning around out of both reflex and fright, drawing a weapon from his inventory. His heart rate slows when he sees nobody there. It's just the heater turning on. "Even though you're dead, you still mess with me…" he mumbles, returning to his keys.

And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

"The fear we have seen is everywhere. And encompasses many things. Despite this…" There is a pause as Uatu turns to his side. "Pardon me, Mr. Falk. I am not allowed to interfere. But, do you really believe that this is the best use of the cosmic entity sharing your body?"

A swarm of zombified bodies, all wearing X-costumes belonging to various well-known members of the team suddenly stop, mid-hip-thrust. Addison's own hand is on his crotch. He is dressed in red and black leather, with wolf-like makeup on his face and his hair hanging limply around his body. "It's either this, or I go crazy and devour sentient life on the other side of the universe. I truly believe this is my best bet. After all, I felt the dark side of the Phoenix trying to awaken within me the other day, because I hadn't been using it. I cannot let that happen." He states, before resuming dancing with the zombified X-Men and students around him.
