History
Its the year 2016. Agents working for President Kelly(used to be Senator Kelly) publicly shoot Tony Stark in a bid to stop any Anti-Sentinel Research from coming to light. Stark is left for dead as visual for all to remember. Tony is mortally wounded by a bullet to the heart; the Extremis process is severely weakened. Stark survives long enough for Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan to rescue him. The pair are able to get a trusted doctor to work on Tony secretively. A Rand Tech reactor is placed in Tony's chest to bolster the mans life functions, to help the Extremis redesign the tech all ready present in his body. Specifically this high yield reactor is implanted to help repair the damaged heart. After the shooting all hope fails as things outside the small lab worsen and Tony remains in a coma.
In the year 2019, Tony awakens. He is strong enough to move about the lab he finds himself in but he's suffering muscle weakness from being immobile for over three years. As he's wandering around the lab he stumbles upon a recorded message that explains what has happened to him and the years following the shooting. Peppers image tells him that they're going to bury him in the lab, for his safety, with all the supplies that they can manage to get. She tells him that Happy is gone, that she isn't sure she's going to be around when he does awaken. A blow comes when Pepper informs him that Kaji has become a Hound of Ahab, a murderer. There's also not been a sighting of Alessia Fiore either. Peppers information, her tearful goodbye, profoundly affect the now 45 year old Avenger.
Tony is furious but determined. He channels all of his energy and new found understanding into physically recovering then redesigning his armor. It takes over a year for Tony to adapt to his life now. His physical appearance has radically changed. Gone is the short dark hair in favor of a gray tinged buzz cut. A disk of pure golden light is fixed over his heart to strengthen his body, and provide power to the wiring and tech within him. From an idea he had considered before, and a remembered conversation with Reed Richards, Tony has advanced his armor to a molecular level. Out of the rubble of Stark Towers, Iron Man flies into the sky. His soul purpose is to right the wrongs caused by the current Administration with any force he deems necessary.
Equipment
Bleeding Edge Armor-
This is the evolution of the Extremis armor. Stark is further altered by technology allowing the nano-machines within him to entirely house the Iron Man armor within his body. The entire suit, no longer just the inner layer, can be mentally commanded to appear. The nano-machines that make up the suit can form any type of structure upon Stark's skin. These nano-machines can even mimic the appearance of clothing, and then dissociate to transform into the Iron Man armor when commanded.
The armor and Starks altered human body are powered by the high-yield arc reactor mounted in his chest. The high output of the arc reactor has greatly augmented his intelligence, and gives him superhuman-level multitasking and learning capabilities. Unlike earlier armor, this armor does not rely on motors and servos for motion. The nano-machines create a second layer of artificial muscle on Starks body, upon which additional rigid structures are assembled. The armor is able to self-repair and be almost invulnerable, as the armor is capable of transforming and healing itself as long as the power output from the arc reactor isn't interrupted or terminated.
The weaponry of this armor is similar to the Extremis armor save there are more repulsor nodes at various points about the armor. Due to the power available the repulsor blasts are now yielding upwards of 75tons of force. The unibeam at the center of the chest piece is now capable of 100 tons of force.
