History
Over his time with Xavier's, Marshall started building and growing his repertoire of skills until he reached a maximum number. Though he could swap skills out, he always maintained a steady number, not always knowing what he lost. He graduated on time, but followed Mikhail, staying at the school and offering his skills… until the time everything changed. When the world went to hell, so did Marshall's care for many things.
Because of the loss of skill, he stopped bothering with lipreading at all. He lost the skill of speech and refused to regain it, because it would cost him another skill. It was no longer worth it.
With his loss of speech came a lack of desire for most interaction with people that couldn't understand him without it. He bonded closer and closer with his former roommate, turned mate Mikhail. He not only bonded, but became more and more like him, losing some of his civility. He works alongside the rebellion with Mikhail, accepting his orders through telepathic explanation or through written word. Except for mikhail, he looks no man or woman in the eye anymore.
