Africa - Rundown Village

The lush green trees of the rainforest hide the small village, with only one road that leads out. The road clearly doesn't get much use, high grass growing up the center. It's nestled next to a beautiful river, flowing with the clean source of water. Still, it is a good walk down a slippery slope to get there.
The village here is poor, but hardly unpopulated. There is one solid building standing at the middle of town, and that's the church, though even that is a roug stucco building. It also seems to double as a clinic. There is no steeple, it is a simple block building, but a cross stands high over the main entrance of the buildling. There are no white people who live here, a dark shade of black on the skin tones of each inhabitant. Though it is small, there are people who live and play. Children run amidst dogs, the women wash clothes and cook while men bring in the food. Some traces of civilization can be found, playing cards and checkers seems to bethe popular activities among the elderly, and they can be found in the shade of any of dozens of trees or around the large fire kept burning at the center.
The rest of the buildings in town are all the same. They are grass huts, and offer little privacy. None of the inhabitants seem to mind, content with their community life. This might offend some of the sensibilities of Americans, but they don't seem bothered by such things.

The Danger Room has been changed from the metallic cold hollow chamber into a lush African village. David stands in the center of the village and has sent out a summons for Hosea to arrive. David, dressed in his Prodigy costume, walks about looking through the village and walking past and interacting with some of the villagers. Making his way to the entrance of the church, David sits among some children playing as he waits for Hosea to appear.

Hosea isn't long. He arrives in his own costume. The doors slide open for him to step through, and then close and disappear into the simulation behind him. He pauses, and looks around. Given their recent talk about Africa, he doesn't seem amused. "You think you will make me feel bettah by pretending dat we are in Africa?" he asks pessimistically. "I appreciate da interest, but dis is not Africa."

Smiling as Prophet enters, Prodigy dismisses the children that had gathered around him to play. As Hosea speaks, Prodigy shakes his head, "You're right. This is not Africa. Though, once again, I am impressed the with technology of the Danger Room." He stands up and exhales, "It feels like Africa in almost every single way, but you would know better, Prophet." David walks towards the African mutant and pats his arm, "This Danger Room session is more observational than most." A jet can be heard in the background and then soon flying over. Hosea may recognize it as the Blackbird.

Hosea watches as the jet roars overhead, and he knits his brow. "Observational?" he asks. "You made a movie? For why? And dis is not like Africa. It does not smell like Africa. It looks similar, but it is different."

David shakes his head again, "Hosea, can you lean down a little so that I can whisper something to you?"

Hosea looks clearly puzzled, uncertain how to respond to this strange scenario, but leans down. "We are da only two heah, you realize dat, correct?" he tells David, He braces his hand on his knee so that David can whisper whatever he has to say.

David smiles as Hosea leans forward,"Thank you. And this is for your own good. Sometimes in life we need a good slap to wake us up." With that being sad, David smacks the back of Hosea's head, "Now stop acting the way you have been acting!" With that, David starts to move towards a clearing until he spots the Blackbird land, "Pay attention."

Hosea barely reacts to the smack on the back of his head, and rolls his eyes. Americans. He folds his large arms across his chest, and follows toward the clearing.

As the plane lands, a small group of Nigerians step out from the village to greet the new arrivals. Leading the way is Avraham, or as close an approximation as David could program. As the plane lands, the hatches is opened and out steps a simulcra of Hosea dressed as Prophet followed by David dressed as Prodigy and Rashmi dressed as Summoner.

The scenario pauses a moment and David gestures for Hosea to follow him. They arrive by the gathering of Avraham and Hosea. Both of their expressions are blank. A holographic keyboard appears before David, "Hosea, tell me how should this play out?"

Hosea arches his brow. "I do not understand. Dis is not real, you cannot look at dis and say how a real event would play out. Only da Lord would know such things. It would be good to see my friends again, but I would not go to dem with no thing. Dey are in great need of medical supplies, I would not dream of taking such time with out first bringing dem what dey need."

Typing into the holographic keyboard as Hosea speaks. Numerous medical and food supplies are brought out and distributed from the plane by simulcra of Prodigy and Summoner. "I know. But we should be prepared for Wednesday." David makes a mental note so medical and food supplies.

Hosea arches his brow. "Wednesday?" he echoes. "What do you mean? You are planning to go to Nigeria on Wednesday?" This is news to him. His arms unfold, and he has become completely uninterested in the Danger Room simulation. "But Rashmi is not heah, she is going as well?"

Nodding, David looks up from the keyboard, "Uhm. Yeah. Rashmi and I are going." they keyboard disappears, "I wonder, do you think anyone else should go with me and Rashmi?"

"To do what?" Hosea asks. It hasn't escaped his attention that there were no medical supplies until after he mentioned them. "It is not da type of place for a vacation. Da Cross River State can be vedy dangerous. I do not know if da students here would be able to handle it." He pauses. "I do not know if you and Rashmi would be able to handle it. It is not a Danger Room session. When something bad happens, you cannot hit you little button to stop what is happening."

"Good point, Hosea." David ponders a moment, "Who at the Institute should go with us?" He hmmmmns, "Well Hilde worked in Africa, so she would be useful. And Jericho, it's always helpful." He scratches his head, "Do you know of -ANYONE_ who should go?"

Hosea arches his brow. "If someone came, dey would need to be willing to work hard. Yes? And dey would need to understand dat dis is not a movie safari where we hunt lions. And dey need to know dat it is not okay to wander around by demselves like dey did in da demon world." He seems more concerned that people coming would get themselves into trouble more than they would be helpful.

"Well, I'm not worried about hard workers. The people I mentioned are hard workers. I'm more curious about the terrain. No one I mentioned is familiar with Nigeria." David looks to Hosea, "Do you know anyone here that knows that area?"

"Only me," Hosea answers. "I have been across much of northern Africa. I am vedy familiar with it." He looks back at the rainforest. "Your GPS will not locate dis little village." He indicates around. "Dere is no electricity, and we may have to walk a vedy long way from where we land." The little town is hardly on any maps, and the likelihood of it being covered by a GPS system are slim.

The more and more Hosea speaks of his village, the more and more he is reminded of Tegu-Haaz. He blinks, "Well, then I guess we have no choice. I guess we can't bring the supplies unless you come with us." He shrugs, "Did you want to come?"

Hosea doesn't look surprised. "I would like to take a trip back to Nigeria. It would be good to see my family dere again." He nods. "It would be kind of you to take a trip to Nigeria. I would like to go." He takes a deep breath. "Hopefully it will be quiet. I do not know much of what has been happening dere in the last couple of months. Nero's men were getting closer to da area, and no mail has been able to move in and out."

"Perfect then." David smiles, "we'll go." He sighs, "Now I have to prepare for the trip, but Hosea. I think it will be good. I'm gonna go, but be prepared to leave Wednesday." David then heads out of the Danger Room.
