Xavier Mansion - Quad

There is a square side walk of pavement with a nice grassy area in the middle with a few stone benches and trees along the corners. The pavement leads to the paths to the grounds of the school, the Dining Hall in Xavier's and the Ramsey Dormitories. It's not particularly large but it's a nice place for students and teachers to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Classes are done for the afternoon and instead of doing his homework, Robyn is outside in the cool air painting primer on a sculpture he's been working on that's fairly large. It's about two feet high and a foot and a half wide and it looks to be some sort of monster from the depths of his imagination going after a weird looking rabbit with ears way too long, six legs that end in a more clawed type of paw. The carved detail in the piece looks like he's put a lot of effort into it and who knows how long this procject has been in the works.

Wondering in from the other side of the school, if a rather irate hyena who's spewing curses somewhat incoherently, "and…who do they think..Don't you be!…freggin idiots. I'll…HER…I am. Tell me I'm…sincere…applesauce…diaper…brownie batter…bedroom!" He snaps his head towards Robyn and makes a bee line, nearly walking over at least a few people, "Morons! Surrounded by them!" He shakes his head and throws his hands up, "Every god-damned day." Obviously it's been a great few hours.

Robyn looks up as soon as he hears the curses and then stops what he's doing as soon as he sees it's James. "Woah, slow down. I know where surrounded by them but what happened James?" He asks concerned as to what's thrown his friend in this state since he's never really seen him like this. If so, it's rare thing. "Who is the moron this time around? Besides everyone?"

James throws his arms together and crosses them looking frumpy, "Everyone." He narrows his eyes as if considering Robyn's placement as part of 'everyone.' "What the frek is it with everyone telling me how I am feeling or what I am thinking, ir going to do? I'm trying to be helpful here and everyone's acting like Suck Puppets!" His new favorite word. "It's what I get, isn't it, for leaving campus for 5 mins last night? have some fun, pay for it in the morning. SHEEEEEESH!"

"I don't know James." Robyn says honestly as really doesn't know. "Actually you're one of the few people I can't fully figure out and…I don't mind that." He sighs as he's wondering if the last few weeks are a prelude to how the school year is gonna be. "Whose been giving you a hard time, if you don't mind me asking."

"Frost," is what James says next with all the coldness that entails, "She seemed alright until she pulled that crap about how she knew what I was thinking. And then that apology thing were it's like, 'I'm sorry, but…' that adults do. You know…when they assume we're wrong and their right. And she wanted me to wear a collar thing that would like turn my senses off and stuff." And get a rabies shot, and sleep in a dog house…and other slightly over-exaggerated facts. "Seriously…I get in more trouble by being nice."

"What the hell?!" Robyn says sounding annoyed, about a few things. "A collar, you're not some animal that needs to be collared, that's so…barbaric. I don't know, that's horrible." He thinks James has every right to be pissed. "And do you think she was actually trying to read your mind and such?" He asks as he knows she's a telepath and that thought doesn't sit well with him.

"Yeah!" James proclaims, "She got Jinx to wear one…and she tried to pawn off the watch version to me." He shakes his head, "No…if she was she'd have actually gotten some of what she was saying right. She thought I was lying to her and telling her what she wanted to hear. I've got better things to do than suck up to her." He hmphs!

"You shouldn't suck up to anyone James." Not that Robyn thinks he is but he just doesn't agree with 'kissing arse'. "Seriously, what's that going to solve anyway if your senses are blocked. I mean…do they really cause you that much of a problem?" He's never heard James complain but he's never really asked either. "If she thought you were lying…you know you might be a jokester at times but I've never known you to be a liar."

James shakes his head, "No…I'd have gotten my hide tanned if I lied at home. Not sure how that part of my rep got started." Maybe it's because what he considers lying and actually lying and what he does aren't as far apart as he thinks. It's a technicality, and a weird one at that. And also one he doesn't see since he's 'joking.' "I just want someone here, aside from X-Force, to actually notice that I'm pulling my shit together without trying to get me to turn part of myself off to do it. I dunno why Jinx agreed to it, but I'm betting I have a few years of 'this' on her. And I don't need it." yeah he does.

"It's because people don't know you James, they don't take the time. And it's their loss." Robyn says honestly as he's heard what people have said and usually disputed it. "Hey, if it matters, I've actually noticed you talking about staying here and going forward and it's surprised me but then, you're Perseus right? You get to be the hero one day." He says giving him a small smile. "Don't make anyone do something you don't want to do with your powers. Hiding from them isn't going to help you lean how to use them and get them under control." Not that he's saying that James' powers are under control.

"It's not like I can pass for human, Robyn. So, it's here, a circus, or the wide open plains for this hyena. If I stay here, I get room and board." He sighs and pushes his arm over his muzzle, "It's just…well, sorry if I'm going off. It's harvest time, and I should be home helping my parents—as a person. Not covering up what I am up with technology." So says the guy who's hiding real image with that of another.

Robyn nudges James with a shoulder bump and shakes his head. "Go off all you like, I'm all ears." He says as he doesn't mind listening to it. "I'm sorry James, really I am. I wish..I could help you more, wish this all didn't suck so bad for you. Wish that you had more options then three crappy ones." He looks up at James and offers a him a small smile that tries to be a bit reassuring but definitely fails.

James tosses his hands up, "Horseshoes and hobbit feets!" Whatever the hell that means. "I'll be fine. Just a little fed up." He sighs, "But hey…6 months ago I'd be in a fight right now. So…take the babysteps for what they're worth, right?" He shrugs his shoulders, "I think Emma is honestly trying…she just needs to realize Jinx's band-aid doesn't fit all."

"Horseshoes and Hobbit and Feet?" Robyn asks as he can't help but shakes his head. "No worries James, and yeah." In regards to taking things for what they're worth. "What works for Jinx might not work for you, you guys aren't the same person. Maybe you should tell her that…I know I still have to go talk to her. I promised Rashmi but big surprise, I've been putting it off."

Spotty shrugs, "Yeah, well, I tried to explain that." Maybe not in actual words, however. "Now, I gotta talk to Jinx and make sure she's not being harmed by these side effects Emma mentioned." He looks down at Robyn as if he was a small tree that needed to be uprooted, "Oh yeah, why?"

"Wait side effects? That doesn't sound good." Robyn says as nothing with 'side effects' every constitutes as good. It usually invovled hair loss, stomach cramps and bleeding from places you shouldn't bleed from. At least that's what the commercials say. "Selene said something to me about putting me on a regiment of lithium and therapy, I gotta pretty pissed at the time but now I'm sure she was trying to get me pissed off. Still Rashmi wants me to talk to Emma about it."

James gives Robyn a long look, blinking hard about the therapy comment, "She's probably just trying to be a bitch. But, if you wanna cause her some trouble, go see Emma. It might be fun to see what happens." James knows little about Black Vs. White. But what he does know is there's some strong dislike between those two. "Fireworks. Kapow!" He grins, already liking the idea. "Scary thing is, though, cameras watch her almost 24/7. She's got the most boring life ever. She does NOTHING. One of the guys said she was old enough she was probably just waiting us out. Like we'd all die before her and she jsut needed to wait for us to go." As for Jinx? "I dunno…side effects are side effects. Maybe she'll be a guy in the morning. That'd be akward."

Scuffing his foot on the ground, Robyn nods. "Yeah, I know I should talk to her." He just doesn't want the confrontation but he should suck it up. "Well she told me she was like 17,000 years old or something. Lucas doesn't believe it but who really knows? If she's that old…that kinda scares me." He admits. "Selene just scares me in general though, I can't deny that." Though he does try to hide it a lot. "And yeah, Jinx as a guy…that's just…creepy."

James shakes his head, "She spent like 6 months in my head. And you wanna know what I learned about her? Nothing—with exception to one thing: She's an expert at using yourself against yourself. And you'll never even realize it." James shutters a little, fur standing slightly as he gets a case of heebe-jeebies. Oh, look, something else to concentrate on, "Dude…Jinx as a guy? Around here? Popular. Tell me you, Lucas, or Connor wouldn't try to tap that?" He smiles widely.

Something James' says causes Robyn to think for a bit but the thought is interrupted at the mention of Lucas and Connor not tapping that and he starts to laugh. "Honestly with Lucas or Connor…I don't know. I actually saw Lucas and Jordan kiss a long while back but that was under a weird circumstance." He says brushing his hair back out of his face. "And speaking of Connor, I have to find a way for the two of us not to fight every freakin' time we spend more then five minutes in the same room. I don't want to go to my room anymore."

"Yeah, well…when you both stop being Suck Puppets towards each other," James says, using his new favorite word, "Maybe you'll stop fighting. Seriously. to me, when you two get in the same room…it's like you're both begging for the other to do something just so the other can catch him on something. It's like that Woper movie…with the kid, and the thing, and the bombs, and the dinosaur that played Tic-tac-toe. What was it…the only way to win is not to play at all." How about a nice game of chess?

"Honestly, I don't want to fight with him, I don't like it. I don't get mad at him and I don't know. I just don't understand him anymore." Robyn says as that's part of the problem. He just doesn't understand Connor. "Anyway, let's drop that. You wanna help me haul this thing up to the art room in a bit so I can let it dry and start painting it maybe tomorrow? One thing I remembered I hate….homework."

"Yeah, sure," James says, looking at the sculpture as if it smelled weird, "Lets get your stinky art project upstairs." He waits for it to be handed to him, given that doing it himself will probably end badly. And comedically. "I'll tell Jinx you sent him regards," the hyena teases as he bumps the smaller boy.

Robyn laughs and bumps back into James. "It does stink, that primer never smells great." He says picking up one half to hand to James and gets the over half. "Thanks, I bet he'll like that." He jokes back. "Also, if you still have the broken pieces to Audrey, let me know, I'll try to see if I can fix it for you or do a weird repair job."
