Barnes Academy Living Wing

//This hub for the day to day living quarters for the students and teachers continues the motif of white alloy floors and large round portholes of the transparent material looking out into the green waters of the bay. Full spectrum lights overhead simulate daylight and there are several benches and settees built into the sides of large planters containing small trees, flowers and plants, each one a carefully tended micro-ecosystem. Passages lead in different directions like the spokes from a central hub. //

Morning, extreme early morning. Just barely past 0500 hours - the hallways were freshly mopped and buffed, the rounded portholes were bringing in the orange to red glow of the rising sun, the fresh smells of cool air was coming in somewhere, scent of open water and smog mingled as a light undercurrent. Jakob was sprawled out on a bench laying on his back one arm dangling down touching the floor above him held in one hand was apparently an iPhone his thumb rapidly pounding buttons on it music escaping it in digital spurts.
Sabina had read something about a curfew, somewhere…There were age limits and times and blablabla fine print babble. She was of age and took advantage of the weekend to break free and wander. No Barnes attire here, tattered jeans with the underlay of netted stockings to contrast in a weave against pale, sun neglected skin. Adamantly a night person, it did best for her bad social skills. A plain black tank top covered her torso and the only addition to the outfit was the small bag that was always hung around her neck. Her hair was left free flowing and at one point she managed to have it straight that night but the natural wave was starting to take over. In one hand she had her MP3 player, in the other were those unstrapped tanker boots, she needed the silence to creep through the halls, though security would already know it was a valiant effort. Entering the living wing she gave pause and winced, there was life here, really?! And of all people…Sigh.
Caleb may be in trouble, he is just getting in, he went to a concert last night and kinda forgot the time, he's dressed in dark blue jeans, a white long sleeve shirt with two blue stripes halfway down the upper arm and 42 on the chest and back, his white hair is gelled in a casual bedhead look and his violet eyes are glowing faintly as is the yellow stone on the silver wristband on his right wrist, his black sneaker are in his hands as he tries not to make any noise.
Bizarre, his head lolled to the left as he begins to smile. " What were you two out doing? " The doors having almost opened up in tune with each other, " See, knew there was more to the two of you. Very cute. " He sat up releasing the device as it dangled around his neck by a thin piece of cord his fingers drumming on his kneecap, dressed in gym clothes of the Barnes standard issue variety. Always having been an early riser, " Hope some form of protection was involved. " The smile he was wearing only grew larger, " Plus, you do realize he’s under-age right? Unless mommy and daddy signed a consent form. " Jakob himself was actually waiting on Teddy for that missed match of basketball after a morning jog, of course.
She was too busy staring and taking one slow step forward to realize Caleb had come in right behind her. Hearing Jakob though had her looking back over her shoulder at Caleb and then back at Jakob with the skin just beneath her left eye starting to twitch. "There's nothing to us Jakob, apparently I was not the only one with the thought to stay out all night though." Her words were said flatly but any ire that could have been added was kept off. He was going to think what he wanted, it was Jakob's way. As for Caleb, she left him to defend himself on this one. More steps were taken now, lazily towards the girl's hall, no need to be sneaky.
Caleb rolls his eyes at Jakob's comment, "First of all, i'm Irish so by my homes laws, i'm completely legal, two my mommy is dead so hard to get consent there, three you seem awfully interested in something going on between us, which leads me to think you got a thing of one of us, what do you think Sabina?"
" Don't ask don't tell right? I didn't inquire beyond your safety. The rest well ain't my business." He replied to Sabina before he glances at Caleb," That’s cute, junior thinks he's got half a brain and is of legal age. " Jakob chuckles as he held up his wrist and looked at the watch on it, " Welp, Teddy is late so… you two lovebirds want to go for a run? Bet your flabby no shape bodies could use it. " As if on emphasis his knuckles drummed against his stomach, beginning a slow stride towards them and ultimately the exit.
Oh, goddamnit he included her in this little debate and she just froze in her step, silent. "I don't think anything aside from if that is his way of showing he has a…thing for one of us it is very playground antic like and unappealing. We're just amusement for his bored time, it has nothing to do with a thing." Go for a run? Sounded tempting enough despite key add on insult Jakob always had to throw out. The freeze in place seemed to shatter and thaw and to her room she went, she wasn't running in her personal clothing.
Caleb laughs, "Haha!, mate i could out run you any day", he pull up the front of his shirt, "And sorry but no flab here", you can see some muscle structure to him, he's got a runners built but he's also a little thinner than he should be, "Come on then smarta**", childish as it sounds he sticks out his tongue.
" So I take that as a yes? " He asks to the retreating backside of Sabina, hearing him almost challenge Jakob his eyes rolled up and off to the side. " I skipped walk and went straight to run, I have more medals in track and field than you can probably count. " He taunted Caleb, the immaturity firing right back, speaking loud enough Sabina would be able to hear, " How is she anyways? " Maybe he was pushing it but the responses were fun enough. Besides, he had every intention of getting Caleb back since they narrowed down who was stealing his clothes.
The taunt from Jakob was casually ignored, though once she got in her room she stewed about it and made a few loud slams of drawers and objects as she changed. Thankfully she had no bunkmate - there went super sleuth, right out the window. The gym attire was Barnes issued, save the tennis shoes. She hated shoes; it was either boots or nothing at all. Her tanker boots were slid back on and this time strapped closed to just beneath her calf. Standing, she walked back out of her room and down the hall towards the two who seemed to have not moved an inch and were sharing a "moment". She had no response as she walked back between the two posturing peacocks, shaking her head slowly even as her hands swept up to begin the tedious task of tying up the length of hair that hung below mid back.
Caleb grins, "Yeah that doesn't sound much when it comes from you, most of us can count higher than ten and we don't need our fingers to do it", fur fecks sake will he drop it, "I really wouldn't know, why don't you try and find out for yourself, that’s if she can stand you anyways", he turns and follows Sabina out.

Jakob " Wasn't talking about me here bucko, but hey why not. " He was grinning, not a pleasant one as usual. He took off jogging towards the gym, "Uh… really have to do this indoors? " He released a noise on his way out the door that sounded like a clack of his tongue against teeth. " I don't mix with freaks. " He calls over his shoulder.

Barnes Academy - Gym

This module is also fairly large, containing an elevated track that spans the circumference of the room, giving it about an eighth of a mile for a single lap. Below the track and the large ports looking out into the water is a central area that can be configured for anything from basketball to street hockey. Around the central area are areas with hydraulic weight set ups, gymnastics equipment, fitness stations and mats for yoga, sparring or stretching.

Hearing them brought no visible effect to her back that was turned to them as she made her way through the halls to the gym, but her eyes had closed and clenched. So her silence suddenly had people speaking for her? This was like betrothal of the damned. Jakob may have run ahead, but she kept back at a casual pace, her hands dropping nearly lifelessly to her sides as she spoke to Caleb before hitting the doors to go in. "Makes ya wish you didn't have to come back, doesn't he?" A faltering smile was offered as she pushed open the doors and headed for the track, picking up her pace.
Caleb nods to Sabina, "Yep, this guy has serious issues, and i'm really trying not to lose my temper with him, how are you staying so calm", Caleb is going to show Jakob exactly what this freak can do on the track.
Found Caleb amusing, learning was in order. Normally some kid almost five years his junior wouldn't get under his skin but he was smug and for some reason believed he would get away with toying with his shit. Smiling once inside the gym he brought his arms up over his head, shoulders popping and cracking before he rolled them back, balancing from one leg to the other while watching the other two. A full night out, he doubted they had slept as, this would be rough on them unless they were super-juiced in some way or another. " So, I say to make this sporting both of you keep up with me the full time try to outlast me, losers will have to do something assigned by the winner. Sound fun? "
Sabina was not out to show anyone anything. She set her pace and as Caleb started to move to take the aforementioned challenge she responded. "I've dealt with people like him my entire life. It's either learn to not feed into it or let it consume you." Inside it was eating at her, but outwardly she kept that mask seated neatly in place which Jakob had managed to make fall a few times but she was more successful than not. Pausing as they approached nearer to Jakob and he voiced his game. Slowly her head shook. "I'm not playing." Not only was she not a sports person, her endurance was low, the one training session she had attended pushed hard at her and this was an automatic fail in the making.
Caleb nods at Jakob, "Fine, give it your best shot Jaky", his gonna need most of his energy now so instead of walking over to Jakob, he flies over.
" Wuss. " He mouthed to Sabina before hearing the word 'Jaky' a cringe went through him mentally and he turned bolting off in a quick sprint. The guy was fast, this was obvious in the first hundred yards he clears legs pumping like pistons as he began to jog around the gym. Waving them on, " Come on, keep up. Least one of you is playing along. " He would taunt, Jakob's powers being as he was were entirely suited for this on top of a lifetime of being well… your basic over-achiever jock.
One brow rose, slowly creeping its way up along her forehead as Caleb began flying over towards Jakob. This…was going to either be interesting or a time bomb though the latter with Jakob was expected. Stretching one leg by bringing it up behind her and pulling her foot in as well as the other she was a primed as she cared to get and started out on the track, finding a decent jogging pace and settling there on the outer most ring. She was not about to get trampled either. Though to Jakob's wuss, as he blew past her she looked at him and mouthed back. "I know." At least when it came to this. Watching and at her own pace is how she spent her laps, at least she had a show.
Caleb runs off after Jakob and quickly begins to fall behind, ok he's gonna run his way then, he runs into a wall and jump kicks off it, the boost in speed helps him catch up with Jakob, but the teen is tired so fall behind and trips falling flat on his face.
The flying thing was as usual un-nerving but he found himself oddly able to cope with it a bit better. Five minutes seemed to be Caleb's limit right now but who knows what he was out doing right now, not to mention he was trying to over-exert (which gets its own laughter as he crashes down). His head shook mid-run as he continued on, it was obvious Jakob would be at this for a while. Speeding up to push himself to a reasonable time, not bothering to say much to either of them until they'd finish even having went as far as putting his earpieces in for the phone around his neck, its iPod kicked in. After running for a good forty five minutes he would stop and approach them, toweling off his head and shoulders (if at that point they were still present).
She called it. No matter how it went, Caleb ending on his face or not, she still would have come in dead last. She was done though. It did not take much after a night of no sleep and her being well…Not the physical savvy girl it was not hard. Her chest rose and fell in measured breaths that cooled down her body, walking the rest of the length and pausing near the doors, grabbing a towel and slinging it around the back of her neck. She had paused once during Caleb's fall to be sure he was fine and now she just leaned back against the wall and stared at an empty spot opposing. "Think I am going to go grab breakfast and then get sleep." Spoken loud enough to resound her tone off the walls and perhaps let them know it had finally rolled to that hour.
Caleb is pissed off and tired, but he's not one to welsh on a deal, he sits down and waits for Jakob to finish, so he can find out his fate.
His hand waves up and out towards Sabina as he looks then towards Caleb, " So, I imagine you're the sort whose good for their word, not decided what the 'dare' of sorts will be but it'll come to me. So for now, just going to take this as an IOU; once I am feeling creative I'll conjure up something to kick your way. " Yeah, let him sweat abit, " Besides this will be fun! " With a towel around his neck he strides off to hit the showers then off to classes.
Caleb sighs and runs a hand though his white hair, "I always stick to my word, weither i like it or not", fine take your time Jakob, you don't scare me, he gets up and goes to hit the showers, then he's going back to bed.
Simply shook her head and left it as it was, not her business and getting fed, clean, and unconscious was her priority.
