NYC - East 42nd Street
Traveling from East to West in the center of Manhattan is 42nd street. The long street is home to Grand Central Station, United Nations, Bryant Park, New York Public Library and Times Square. This street has many stores and restaurants tailored to the more upscale and tourists of the city. There are also many theatres along this street for Broadway Musicals and motion pictures.
One year older. Eddie's not quite sure how to feel about being seventeen, but he's been distracted as of late. Some odd feeling he couldn't quite place has been bugging him. But today, rushed out of the house for some reason, Eddie's wandering down East 42nd street. He's dressed in jeans and a Spider-Man t-shirt, humming a tune around the lollipop in his mouth. He seems distracted until the sound of a car crash draws his attention. Frowning in concern, Eddie starts to head towards the source of the sound.
Pallaton's unfamiliarity with the city seems to have caught up with him, as he meant to head towards Mutant Town for a bit, but instead seems to have gotten lost. The sound of the car-crash is easily picked up by the young mutant, but so is a familiar scent. He looks around, trying to pin-point it and… yup, there's Eddie. "Eddie? Thank goodness you're here, I have no idea where to go from here." He stops as he gets close, noting the concern on Eddie's face, followed by his destination. Quietly, Pallaton simply follows Eddie towards the crash.
Eddie doesn't seem to notice Pallaton at first, rushing right by him. The scarred mutant only stops when he hears his name, just barely not falling. "Pallaton? What're…sorry, I'll be right with you, people might need help…" he says, continuing on. It's not long before the scene is reached. It appears that an armored car has crashed into a wall, the back flung open and one guard unconscious on the pavement. Inside the car…one can see a man in some odd purple and blue costume covered in white shapes rooting through the bags of money. Eddie comes to a stop and ducks behind a mailbox, peering towards the armored car. "Oh man…"
Pallaton watches with curiosity as Eddie runs off, but upon seeing the man inside, he puts two and two together and ducks into a nearby alleyway, peering between Eddie and the car. Bank heist, by the looks of things, but Pallaton isn't dropping his disguise just yet. Observe what Eddie's plan is, THEN move.
Eddie's plan seems to be the same one he usally has. Hands go into pockets and within a few moments…he's got goggles and X-bandana covering his face and Goblin Gauntlets on his hands. He takes a quick glance around for Pallaton before standing up and moving forward. Mr. Faith heads for the guard first, checking to make sure he's alright before turning his attention to the armored car and tossing a smoke bomb inside. A few moments later, that man in purple and blue exits the vehicle, coughing and waving smoke away from his face. "That doesn't belong to you, Boomerang," the goggle-wearing Eddie says in his 'I am scary, rar!' voice, concealed by the smoke for now. "Bloody 'ell?" the man now identified as Boomerang seems confused.
Pallaton ducks behind a dumpster, switching off the Inducer to run out and back up Eddie. After all, Eddie alone probably just isn't as intimidating as Eddie and his giant wolfman pet. So to add some weight to it, Pallaton flexes his claws a bit. Not that he'd ever use them, but they make good intimidation tools. "Stop this at once. You're outnumbered and outperformed, so come along quietly." Yeah, like that'd work.
As the smoke starts to clear, Pallaton becomes visible before Eddie. This leads to Boomerang being a bit shocked. "Freakin' over-grown dingo!" he exclaims, pulling a boomerang off his costume and holding it up. Ofcourse, once the whole picture is sight, the villain just scowls. "Run along now, little pups. The big men have business here," he threatens, flinging the bommerang at Pallaton. It's edges are razor sharp and will cut Pallaton if he doesn't move out of the way.
Pallaton can see the sharp edges and focusses on it for now, making sure to dodge the Razorang on both the outward and return journey. But his attention is taken there fully, so he completely blanks Boomerang otherwise. After all, he doesn't regenerate. "Who is this guy, Faith?" He jumps sideways to avoid the boomerang as it returns to … Boomerang, his body dipped as he keeps a watch on him.
Boomerang easily catches his razor-rang again, gloves treated to not be cut by his own blade. A sadistic grin comes to his face before he flings the razorrang again. He also tosses another boomerang aimed at Pallaton's feet. Mr. Faith meanwhile dives to the side and rolls. "It's Boomerang. He usually fights Spider-Man. Be careful, his boomerangs all have nasty tricks!" he replies, sending an electrical blast Boomerang's way only for the villain to evade it.
Pallaton jumps back to put some distance between him and Boomerang, lifting a clawed hand to shoot a few pebbles at the second boomerang in an attempt to knock it off-course, focussing on dodging the razor-rang again, growling. "I think it's up to you, Faith. Unless I can get a second…" But that second isn't coming any time soon, as Pallaton plays the dancing game, ducking from one direction to another while the razor-sharp blade swishes through the air.
The second 'rang powers through the pebbles, striking the pavement and exploding. Mr. Faith lets out a grunt of pain as he's struck by some debris, looking towards Pallaton. "I…umm…I'll do what I can, Talli," he replies, not sure what to do. He's not Spider-Man after all. Boomerang meanwhile just keeps flinging boomerangs, a mix of Razorrangs and Shatterrangs. "You kiddies shoulda run along when I gave you the chance!"
Pallaton nods, but then shouts out as he's blasted back by the explosion. He's quick to get on his feet, dropping to all fours and growling savagely. Which stops as he sees the oncoming attacks. There's no way he can dodge all of those, and both are unaffected by his pebbles, so… wait! It seems Pallaton's had an idea and drops into a full-blown sprint off to one side. He's keeping his eye on the boomerangs, though, trying to ensure any hits he takes are as superficial as possible. He gets knicked quite a few times by the razor-rangs, resulting in a handful of shallow cuts across his chest, arms and back but he does his best to ignore them. That is until he ends up on the wrong end of a shatter-rang, the resulting explosion flinging him towards the armored car like a ragdoll. But due to it, he's taken quite a beating already. Not enough to take him out of action, but enough to impede him. Was that part of the plan? If so, it's a sucky plan…
Luckily for Mr. Faith, Boomerang seems mostly focused on Pallaton and pretty much ignores the smaller mutant. Quickly pressing the panic button on his phone, Mr. Faith takes a deep breath and starts to move. He lets out a squeak when he sees Pallaton caught by the explosion and sent flying. Applying his powers, Mr. Faith starts to boost Pallaton up to two and a half times his maximum levels. Not bothering to mimic just yet, Mr. Faith runs forward and leaps up. Boomerang starts to walk towards Pallaton, pulling off a pair of larger razor-rangs. "Time to make a coat," he jokes with himself. A step later and he's got an Eddie on his back and covering his eyes. "Get off!" the villain demands, struggling to pull Mr. Faith off his back and head.
Pallaton growls, straining to get back to his feet despite his wounds. Luckily, with Eddie's boosting, it's pretty easy. And while Boomerang is blinded, Pallaton takes the oppertunity to grab hold of Boomerang's arms, making sure he can't reach for another boomerang. He gives a nod to Eddie, then looks Boomerang in the eyes. Or, at least, where they would be if Eddie decides to not let go. "I'm one beast you never want to hunt." He snarls, before trying to swing Boomerang to the ground and pin him down. At least until the authorities arrive, or until Eddie brings something to do that with. Say handcuffs… or a lamppost.
Mr. Faith holds on, taking a bit of a pummeling until Pallaton grabs Boomerang's arms. "I'll kill ya and make a rug out of your hide!" the villain threatens. As Boomerang starts to be swung, Eddie's eyes go wide behind his goggles. "Talli what are yo-" he starts to ask only to be cut off as he ends up slammed into the ground under Boomerang and Pallaton. Letting out a yell of pain, he manages to hold on though. It might look like Boomerang is down…but something clicks in his boots and WHOOSH. Rocket boots carry the villain out from under Pallaton, scrapping Mr. Faith along the pavement and then carrying them into the air. Okay, that's just nasty looking…the trail of torn t-shirt bits and blood on the pavement. About eight feet off the ground, Boomerang finally manages to shove Mr. Faith off and send him crashing atop a parked car. The metal creaks and Mr. Faith lets out a groan on pain, his scars no longer glowing. His boosting stops as he just lays there. Up in the air, Boomerang laughs before flinging another round of razor-rangs at Pallaton.
Pallaton does his best to get out of the way of the jets once Boomerang blasts off, only just managing it and singing a little bit of his tail. He snarls but stops again as he sees Eddie fall. He just watches in shock as he realizes just what he had done accidentally for a few seconds before running over. Or, at least, trying to. He nearly gets there, but ends up with a couple of razor-rangs embedded in his back. Yelping, he stops running, skidding along the ground until he collides with the car as well. He's barely hanging on, but is more focussed on Eddie, using his claws to drag himself up so that he's at least slumped over the car and able to see Eddie. "By the Great Mother… I'm so… sorry, Faith… I didn't mean…" He's reaching out a bloodied hand-paw to try and check Eddie's still alive after his complete screw-up.
Mr. Faith's alive and conscious, just hurt. He looks up at Pallaton and then his eyes go wide again. "Get down!" he yelps out, lifting an arm and firing off an electrical blast that meets a shatterrang in the air, making it explode too soon. Mr. Faith starts to get up and boost Pallaton again. "Fastball…Fastball Special me," he requests, getting an idea.
Pallaton blinks. He'd glad Eddie's okay, and it seems he draws strength from that, but he still doesn't get it. "Fastball… special?"
Groaning as he hops off the car, Mr. Faith looks up at Pallaton. "Throw me…at him," he clarifies. "Move first!" he squeaks, reaching out to grab Pallaton's arm and pull him away as a shatterrang destroys the roof of the car he just landed on.
Pallaton stumbles, but it seems he'd got the general idea. Using the momentum from the pull, Pallaton does his best to continue on a little faster, then spin around to slingshot Eddie towards Boomerang. In theory, at least. He lands flat on his side after the maneuver, but he's still got enough energy to try it again if it doesn't work.
Boomerang sends some razor-rangs flying, cutting Eddie slightly but that doesn't deter the small mutant. He runs with Pallaton until picked up and thrown. Boomerang's rather surprised to have a glowing, human missile flung his way and doesn't even try to get out of the way. He gets grabbed, starting to tumble out of the air as Eddie holds on. A few moments later and there's a flash and crackle of electricity. With a THUD, Boomerang lands on the top of the armored car, Eddie tumbling off him after impact. The teen hits the street again with a yelp of pain. "Can't believe…that worked…"
Pallaton forces himself up, not yet removing the two razor-edged boomerangs from his back, limping over to Eddie. "I'm sorry…" he pants, heading over to Eddie, falling to his knees just short and clutching a cut on his back. "I didn't… mean for that to happen…"
Mr. Faith is already getting up despite his injuries. "Don't…worry about it…" he traiils off. "Time to go. Now," he says. There's a pause. Mr. Faith glances down and then snags a fallen razor-rang off the pavement and stuffs it in his pocket. Memento. "Gotta get you to the infirmary…" he trails off, trying to pull Pallaton towards a safe place they can hide till the school comes to get them.
Pallaton nods, stumbling into a side-alley with Eddie's help. He'd still bleeding quite a bit, but with the school on the way, he'll likely get fixed up soon and be told off by Scott. After all, it was his fault Eddie got hurt so badly… "Are you sure… it's okay?"
Stumbling along as they go and bleeding himself, Eddie smiles behind the bandana covering his mouth. "I'll be fine," he says simply. What a day…
