NYC - Nowhere
Nowhere is a community bar, with a slightly old world feel. All of the tables and chairs are made of wood, though there are some couches in a slightly offset room with green fabric. The music varies, depending upon the Owner's music taste for the day. Beer and Liquor are both served, but are both carded for as well.
At the front of the bar, right as one walks in,is a large sign. "Superhuman friendly establishment. There will be no tolerance for disparaging remarks based on one's genetic status. Any fights will not be tolerated within the bar. The management holds no responsibility for where combatants are teleported."
Scene
The Sunday day shift really sucks when you work at a bar that doesn't serve food and is also a club. It's slow and not much is made in tips but that's the shift Danny was on today. He didn't really feel like going back home after his shift ended so he's sitting at the bar slowly working on a pint of Magic Hat #9. He's dressed in a pair of jeans and a short sleeved button up shirt looking quite clean cut and fashionable, his cowboy hat still sits in the backroom. Though another reason he could still be hanging around the bar tonight is that guy he keeps eyeing on the dance floor.
Lil is currently working the bar, tapping her foot in an annoyed fashion as she eyes the clock. "He's late. He's very late…Again. Probably got arrested for ripping up that train last night. Stupid Australian bastard." She's kind of telling this to Danny, though he seems distracted by that guy again. She follows his gaze and smirks. "Oh just talk to him. I'm sure he likes you, he always tips you well…There he is." She glances up as the door opens and Bruce walks in.
Bruce offers a slightly apologetic wave, but he seems to be in a mood of some sort. He quickly walks up to the counter and slips behind the bar, tossing his hat on the back counter and washing his hands. "Thanks for covering, love. Ah, and Danny. You still here?" He motions to the back room. "Ye can take yer break if ya want. I can cover this…Extensive crowd." There's not actually that many people here right now. Probably half as many as usual. Bruce is wearing camo shorts with a brown tanktop and a khaki shirt overtop left open.
To Lil there's a sigh and a shake of his head. "No, it ain't like that it's more…he's an ex." One that Danny didn't really want to end but things kind of happened but with a shrug he smiles as Bruce walks in. "Howdy Bruce." Then something clicks in his brain. "Wait, what do ya'll mean by ripping up that train last night?" He says sounding confused as, well, he's a superhero and used to be part of a team so acts like that, well, he definitely doesn't agree with them.
Bruce quirks a brow at Danny and seems confused for a half second before glaring at Lil. "Whatchya doin spreadin these things about me? Jeeze, Lil." He shakes his head and walks past her to get a couple beers for one of the patrons. After a bit of quick chatter he returns to Danny. "Eh, chased some biker gang halfway across the city. They was hanging out in the alleyway beating down a couple of the homeless mutant kids out there. Thought I'd…Take 'em down."
Danny looks between Lil and Bruce and nods before taking a few gulps of his beer. "Next time ya run intah some homeless mutant kids, lemme know, Ah'd like tah see if there's anything Ah can do for them tah help 'em out with their situation. It ain't always easy bein' a runaway or havin' yer parents not want ya around cause of what ya are." Even though Danny's not a mutant he can identify with that.
Bruce shrugs. "They tend to be able to take care of themselves. The problem is with the gangs. It's like some merit badge thing. Beat up some muties, get into the gang. Actually ran into a few mutant folk in the subway last night too." He mumbles something about them getting in his way, but doesn't elaborate too much. "Anyway, want to find a homeless mutant just walk the alleys at night. Bound to find one er two of em out there."
Danny nods slowly as Bruce mentions running into a few mutant folk in the subway last night, slightly curious in regards to what Lil mentioned earlier but leaves it at that. "That ain't a half bad idea, and sure they can take care of themselves but livin' on the streets ain't exactly healthy for kids. Also gits them away from the gangs that wanna beat up on mutant folks, which ain't right either. So what happened in the subway where ya ran inta mutant folks?"
Bruce gives Danny a confused look. Perhaps Danny is unaware of Bruce's code name and abilities, and is thus unaware of his exploits as Dingo. "Um…Not much…Just…I'll be right back." Someone at the end of the counter is holding up a hand to order something. Bruce wanders over and tries to discern exactly what the man is trying to order, apparently something he's not heard of before.
While Bruce is over there, Lil pulls a newspaper out from under the counter and flops it down in front of Danny. "Really Dan? Weren't you here when the place got shot up? Figured out who he was back then." This newspaper is apparently one of the less mutant friendly ones. The title reads "Mutant Attacks Subway" with a photo of a subway car that's been a bit torn up.
Looking at the paper, Danny looks down the bar at Bruce and the confused look he got from Dingo and from what Lil is telling him, he doesn't know what to think. "Y'all are serious about this ain't ya?" Asks the bartender that doubles as a superhero. For Danny, this really isn't good news. He looks up at Bruce and swears under his breath. "Ah uh…Ah think Ah should git goin' home now, Ah…got some things tah think 'bout."
Bruce seems to finally figure out exactly what the customer is asking for and comes back to the other tenders after mixing the drink. He glances out over the crowd again before looking back down to Danny. He sees the paper and frowns harshly. "Attacked? What is this? Lil? I don't want to see this sorta crap around." He picks up the paper and tosses it into a trash can. "See if I save you next time the bar's shot up." Not that this is a likely scenario. He glances down at Danny and frowns. "It's more complicated than that." He leaves it at that, but Danny's sure to find the news files of Dingo robbing a bank and saving people from snipers if he digs far enough.
Standing up Danny smiles to Bruce. "Ah wouldn't worry 'bout it too much, though Ah gotta git goin'. Ah'm not really up for starin' at mah ex all night again." He says looking over at the man once with more and shakes his head. "One night stands are so much easier, but anywah, Ah'm gonna be on mah way, Ah gotta work mah other job early t'morroah mornin' so Ah should try to sleep off some of these beers." He says as he goes to head to the back room to get his stuff. "Ah'll see ya Tuesday when we work the same shift Bruce?"
Bruce is currently glowering at Lil, who seems to decide it's a good time for a break. He glances up and waves a hand at Danny. "Have a good night Danny, yeah Tuesday we work together. I'll serve yer ex a stale beer fer ya, alright?" He offers a crooked smirk and waves the man off before turning to fill another customer's order.
