Xavier Mansion - Lobby

A large chandelier causes light to shine over the polished surfaces of the Lobby creating a bright welcome. A few wooden benches blend in with the wooden walls. A large portrait of Professor Xavier is displayed on the wall. On each wall is a doorway that leads to a different part of the school.

Late evening, David dressed in his staff uniform, Black and Yellow Body suit and wearing red cybershades is doing rounds at the mansion which has been on lockdown since the attack that destroyed Cerebra. Making his way to the front door, he peers out a window and begins typing away on a holographic keyboard appearing from the cybershades.

July finally got some free time at her unending tribulations at college, and so she decided to come check up on the school. "Wow. They seriously did a number here…" she mutters to herself as she approaches the front door. "I just hope the doorbell still works." she chuckles, smirking ruefully to herself as she stretches an arm to ring the doorbell.

As soon as the doorbell is rung, David appears and opens the door, “Well, hello there, July.” David has a huge smile on his face as he holds the door open for July, “Glad you could come by. Rashmi is here to. Almost like a reunion.” David smirks as he makes the holographic keyboard disappear. “Hopefully the front gate will be fixed soon.”

July smiles, "Hey, David." she says, before looking at the front doors, "Y'know, I was half-expecting the doors to just break down and fall as I rang the doorbell." she giggles softly, "So, hey, Rashmi's here too? Awesome." she nods, smiling, "How's the school? Still in lockdown?"

“She came by and I think there was someone from SHIELD here too.” David walks July in and then he drops down onto one of the lobby sofas, “Well, the mansion has taken worse hits, but with Cerebra down the school will stay in lockdown, probably until we get Robin, Shane, and Heather back.”

July nods softly, "Was breaking Cerebra down the reason of their attack?" she asks, sitting on the other couch, opposite form David. "Also… how long until Cerebra gets fixed?" she tilts her head.

“Not sure. Emma is really the only one who uses Cerebra. She was in the medbay unconscious, but I hear her progress is better. She got hit the worst . Two of the students, Tara and Kieran, who were hurt are already up and about.” David leans back on the sofa, “I think that Cerebra had to be the reason for the attack. One of Heather’s parents is a telepath and they wiped out the greatest device a telepath can use. The attack outside kept us distracted with only some students trying to defend Cerebra. It was actually a really good attack, if you think about it. From a strategy point of view.”
July hmmms softly at it, a light frown on her brows as she crosses her arms, "I don't get it. How did they get to mind control Robyn and the others?" she asks, tilting her head.

“To be honest, I have no idea. The girl who attacked the lawn with Heather was talking jibberish. Something about Rashmi actually.” David pauses and makes a mental note to ask Rashmi about that. “She said we were holding her. They were brainwashed. Maybe a deep illusion. Heather’s father is called Mindbender, so…”

July sighs, her shoulders slumping a bit, "So Heather's father may be behind this? Basically… we got nothing but assumptions about what they were after, who control our friends, and who is behind all this? Damn… it's like we got no leads." she shakes her ehad, "anything I can do to help?"

“Well, I guess. Just provide staff support, I guess. Visit, with Emma out and the X-Men away on missions. I guess just stick around, if you can.” David shrugs, “It has to be her parents. From what I heard. They attacked a bunch of students outside the mall a month ago. We though Connor died, but he is trapped in some kind of alternate dimension thing or something. An older magical counterpart of his is here too. But I think that is incidental. I’m more wondering what the link is between Robyn and Shane. And this mystery rat-girl. The rat-girl was powerful and a mimic, but what was it about Robyn and Shane Any of the other students are as powerful, or morese.”

July blinks softly, "Alternate dimensions… and magical duplicate?" she asks, then she has to chuckle, smiling ruefully, "Things are never simple as in 'kidnapped in a warehouse', are they? Always alternate dimensions, evil doppelgangers…" she shakes her head. She can't help but be amused. "But about this duplicate… how did you find out he's not the real Connor?"

“Well, he is older than our Connor. But I was able to tell from his skillset. My powers allow me to recognize people through their skillset. This guy’s set includes magic and a different viewpoint from others.” David rubs the back of his neck as he remembers the encounter. “I was nearly knocked out when I synched with him. He is funny. And apparently, black people in his dimension live separate from white people.” David shrugs and smiles when July chuckles.

July oh's at that. "Segregation. I see." she nods softly, and then shrugs, "So how did he came to be in *our* world? Speaking of which… This Connor's doppelganger's world… is there where our Connor is?" she asks, frowning again. She rubs the back of her head at that, at the possibility of seeing other worlds.

“No, he was talking weird, but he mentioned that he knows where Connor is, and he can bring Connor back, but it will take time. So we just kinda sit and wait. Which I help. It’s kinda like Tegu-Haaz all over again.” David stands up and sits on the sofa next to July, “So, how about you? How’s summer been so far?”

July has to chuckle at that, "I was about to say 'eventful', but after hearing all that happened to you guys after I left, I'm pretty much inclined to say it was pretty boring, compared." she shakes her head, smiling, before crossing her arms behind her head as she looks around. "… I remember I used to think this place was our… safe haven, y'know? Kinda rattles you hard seeing it being attacked this hard the first time. Shatters all illusions of being safe."

“Well, if anything it makes us resilient.” David smirks and chuckles, “Our motto should be if you can survive here, you can survive anywhere.” Resting his head atop a sofa pillow, “At least it’s not boring. And to think I was thinking of taking some students on a field trip to the beach. So much for that.”

July arches one eyebrow at that, "Why not? It's a pretty good way to raise morale again, while we get this place up and running again, y'know? The kids are probably scared about what happened here, so doing something to get their minds off it would be a good thing, don't you think so?" she asks, smiling now.

“Well the Danger Room is still functional. Maybe we can run a simulation of the beach or something. So we are kinda way but not really.” David shrugs, “Plus, I think the risk might be too great. Mindbender and Upgrade may want to go after some more of the students.” He pops his head up, “However, maybe it’s not such a bad idea, but maybe some more experienced people should check it out first… you know just to be sure it’s safe and all.” Smiling to July, “How about a trip to the beach? If you and I go. We are better equipped to deal with any dangerous stuff that could arise. I think it’s a good idea. You know. For the students and whatnot, if we check out the beach, before they do.”

July arches one eyebrow at the invitation, but she smiles, "Sure, if the date for the trip doesn't coincide with my exams at college." she points out, "I'll be glad to go and keep an eye on the students." she nods.

“Alright, then. For the safety of the students we’ll have a date on the beach.” David exhales and goes back to resting his head on the sofa of the coach, “Are you staying the night? Or do you have to be back at Empire State tonight?”

July nods softly, and then she glances at her watch, "Actually, I should be heading back now. I got a day free, but I still got some stuff to finish tonight for tomorrow." she nods softly, before standing up, "I just came by to check on the school. I'll come here with more time next week." she smiles.

Standing up and holding the door open for July,"Thanks for coming by. As always, July, it's good to see you." David offers a smile and a nod goodbye.
