NYC - Bryant Park

Located right behind the New York Public Library is the quaint Bryant Park. Looking over 42nd Street, chairs and tables have been set up all around the green, making it ideal for book readers, people to sit down and eat, or just relax with friends. Trees surround three out of four sides of the park, and in one of the corners sits a little stand called The witchcraft creamery which offers ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, floats, and warmer beverages in the winter.

It's a sunny day out in New York City, maybe a little humid, but that doesn't stop Siegfried from getting out an enjoying the day. After years of living in what felt like darkness, Siegfried finally found a ray of hope and has been clinging too it. He's done teaching his morning class at the Trapeze School and has come to the park to enjoy his lunch there. McDonalds is the lunch of choice as he just sits there people watching while eating.

Valerie has been out at the park as well. With her work done for the day, she took the afternoon off, and decided to walk around the city to know her new home better. Right now, she's also carrying a McDonald's paper bag, looking for a good place to sit down and enjoy her meal.

There really any open tables, let alone ones with empty seats but Siegfried does seem to be occupying a table by himself. There are a few books on the table along with his lunch but there seems to be enough room for another. As he munches on his burger, Siegfried's eyes just dart around the park until the focus on a father and son playing ball in the park and a soft smile forms on his face.

Valerie looks around the area, her free hand adjusting her sunglasses, letting out a soft, slightly annoyed sigh at the lack of empty tables, until spotting Siegfried's table. She considers just leaving for a moment, but then she just shrugs and approaches the guy. "I'm sorry." the woman says, smiling, "Would you mind if I joined you?"

"Not at all." Siegfried says in his thick German accent as he looks up with a smile. "It's been a vile since I've had company for lunch." He says clearning away some of the books on the table which all seem to have the same theme: deamons and devils. "I am Siegfried." He says introducing himself figuring he'll be friendly, and of course the Sieg is pronoucned like a Zieg.

Valerie smiles as she sits down on her seat, after some room on the table has been cleared for her, "Thank you." she says, nodding softly as she places her food bag on top of the table, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Siedfried. I'm Valerie." She offers in return.

"Nein, Nein to Mister, just Siegfried. If it vere mister it'd be Verner." Seigfried says with a shake of his head. After all he's still relativly young. "Nice to meet you Valerie. I see that McDonalds is quite the popular lunch spot today." He says commenting on her similar taste in lunch for the day.

Valerie chuckles gently at the clarification, "Of course. My bad. I'm sorry." she says, nodding before starting to pull her lunch out of her bag, "Well, McDonald's kind of is, but it's not my preferred spot. I just don't have the money for a full course meal in a restaurant right now." she shrugs lightly, smiling a bit.

"I understand. Eating out all the time can get expensive." Siegfried says with nod, but he does eat out a lot. "Back in Germany the McDonalds actually served beer inside." He says with a chuckle. "And eating at a restaurant has never really been my sort of thing."

Valerie chuckles gently, smiling, "Yeah, most fast-food joints here don't sell beer." she shakes her head softly, before adjusting her shades, "Never found a restaurant of your liking, Siegfried?"

Siegfried thinks about the question for a bit before shaking his head. "Nein. It's not that it is more, I just didn't live life style vhere ve vent to a lot of resturants. Too fancy for me it seems sometimes. Especially going alone to a place like that does not seem all that appealing."

Valerie nods to that, smiling, "I understand." she says, before taking a small bite off a small fry, "As for me, I don't have much choice, as I'm not a good cook, and I don't stay at home long enough to eat lunch."

"I don't cook much myself so I usually get take out." Siegfried says with a nod. "There are a lot of options here and some that are not too expensive but then I think The Bronx is a bit cheaper than Manhattan but I vork not to far from here and didn't vant to go home yet."

Valerie could actually get home much faster if she just flew from work, but she isn't ruining her secret identity for that commodity. "I feel for you." she nods, smiling, "It's not like I live too far from home, but usually the traffic is heavy and takes me a bit to get home."

"Vell I don't drive, I take public transportation, subway or bus." Siegfried explains. "I never got US drivers licence or one in Germany for that matter. I just don't feel like going home to an empty apartment, do that make sense?" He asks giving her a questioning look. "Also I vant to go back to vork once the classes are over and vork out a bit."

Valerie can't help but giggle softly, "I don't enjoy returning to an empty apartment either, but I do have to sleep every now and then." she says, smiling, "Plus I can't live without TV." she says, shaking her head softly.

Siegfried laughs. "I don't vatch TV." He admits. "Vas too busy for it growing up so it doesn't hold much interest for me now. I don't even own a television set."

Valerie giggles softly again, "Lucky you. I just can't live without my favorite prime time series." she shakes her head softly, smiling softly. "Help me pass the time when I got nothing to do at home."

Siegfried shrugs. "I just didn't grow up vith it so it doesn't seem necessary. Also don't really get most of the American television shows. Vy do I vant to show about a teenage girl who kills vampires?" He asks as the dramas tend to be a bit too outrageous for him. "I pass the time at vork."

Valerie shrugs at that, smiling, "Well, to be honest, I think it's a habit thing." She says, and then she takes another bite off her fries, "As for work, while I do enjoy what I do, I don't exactly have fun with it, and all work and no play make Valerie a dull girl."

"Vork for me vas always play." Siegfried says with a chuckle. "I vas born into a circus family so I vas raised vith the troupe and knowing the circus life. I used to preform all the time but now I just teach, Flying Trapeze instructor."

Valerie ah's and nods, and takes a sip of her coke, "So you work as a circus performer, huh? That's pretty nice. What do you do?" the blonde asks, smiling.

"Vorked, I don't anymore." Siegfried explains. "I vas an acrobat like my parents. I did a lot of different things, trapeze, tight rope, juggling, death defying acts, ve vere a small troupe so our skills vere spread around."

Valerie ah's and nods, "No longer exercising that profession, then. May I ask, though, what keeps you busy today, then?" she asks with a smile, curious.

"I teach, at the Flying Trapeze school. I teach people vho vant to just try it once usually how to fly, so to speak. I don't teach the tricks I did back in the circus, to dangerous." Also Siegfried knows he has super humanabilities in regards to that. "Vat about you, vat occupies your time?"

Valerie ah's and nods again, "An acrobat school? Nice." she says, but then, as she's asked about what she does, she giggles, "TV. TV occupies my time. My work steals my TV time." she says with a playful grin.

"Nein. Just a flying trapeze school, not acrobat. Acrobat is so much more than swinging through the air on a bar." Siegfried is defensive about his art. He raises his eyebrows confused a bit. "TV for living?" He shrugs. "Vell Valerie it vas nice meeting your aquantance but I must be off. Have a good day." He says with a nod as he gathers his belongs and starts to stroll away.
