Xavier Mansion - Lobby
A large chandelier causes light to shine over the polished surfaces of the Lobby creating a bright welcome. A few wooden benches blend in with the wooden walls. A large portrait of Professor Xavier is displayed on the wall. On each wall is a doorway that leads to a different part of the school.
It's maybe a bit late for a follow up but Jessica's been busy with SHIELD stuff so she hasn't gotten a chance to stop by and see how the X-Men have fared with the after maths of Ahab. She's been let into the mansion and told to wait while someone would go find Ms. Frost or Mr. Summers but that was like fifteen minutes ago. She's dressed in a pair of nice jeans and a casual t-shirt with her hair pulled back into a pony tail. There's a sigh as she looks at her watch, five more minutes and they'll get a phone call on her way out.
From down the hallway a familiar figure approaches; the X-men's resident mechanic and part-time shaman, Forge. Dressed in bluejeans and hunter-green t-shirt he smiles to Jessica and covers a gloved hand, "Jessica, good to see you again. How's shield treating you now days?" He assumes shell remember him, having contracted to Shield for years on end, he's been known to run in the same circles, even if not directly attached to her co-workers. A wrench in the other hand is put into his back pocket, a well-meaning grin forming on his face, "Sorry, you caught me giving the Blackbird it's post-flight maintenance. Scott and Emma are off site at the moment. What can I do for you?"
Jessica holds out a hand, and of course her nails are perfectly filed and polished, and smiles warmly at Forge. "Forge how are you doing? It's been a while. Nick and SHIELD are treating me well, Nick's always been kind to me." Ever since she tried to kill him. "Ah that explains the wait, well I just wanted to make sure all is well on your front here after the whole Ahab thing. Thank goodness that's over. I know it's late but the Avengers have been busy with things, you know how it goes."
After a quick, firm handshake, Forge offers a thoughtful look and a response, "Well, you know how his visits go. So, aside from the usual, he spooked the kins pretty good. But, with him being gone things have settled down." The Maker grins "For the time being at least. How'd things go on your end?" No mention of future flash backs or hounded students. Those are Scott's and Emma's secrets to reveal, not the guy who spends his time in the basement working on his projects.
"Well glad to see things have settled down. We had one of our own turned which was…well it altered his alien physiology so we're trying to see what the effects are. We've been running a few tests at the mansion and such and he's involved with S.W.O.R.D. so they're more familiar with aliens than I am." Jessica says and she's not the only Avenger who knows very little about aliens outside of what she reads in files. "Honestly Forge, I don't know how you handle staying here. I go down to Barnes once a week and that's enough for me, to many kids running around."
Forge grins, standing up a little straighter as a couple of those said kids goes running by, "The mansion has changed, hasn't it? By my habit's haven't. I make due by hiding out n my work shop until after everyone has gone to bed. So, I avoid a lot of the drama that goes on top side." Which is just fine by him. "So, what are you up to nowadays?"
Jessica smiles at his explanation. "That sounds like a wonderful plan of action. And I never saw much of the older mansion. I was in California when I first met the X-Men and then I spent time in Madripoor before officially joining SHIELD, which then lead to the Avengers. I've been working with both lately. At least my duty as being a spy against HYDRA is over, though I would really like to see them burn in hell." She isn't bitter against HYDRA, not one bit. "What about you, besides hiding in the basement here, anything else going on?"
Forge shakes his head, "Not much more than what you'd expect from school about to head into the fall semester." He hmms, a hand going to his chin, "Though as you're probably aware, we had to scramble the jet early A.M. on saturday. A couple of our students were camping up north and ran into the Wendigo. One was injured, but left the infirmary today. I've been trying to raise Logan to see if he wants to check it out, but you know how easy he is to find."
"Well I'm glad that they're alright over all, injuries heal." Jessica might sound cold saying that but it's the life of a superhero. If you live to fight another day, it's all good. "So how is Logan doing, I haven't seen him much since we were in Madripoor together. So the Wendigo, I don't think I know to much about him but it's amazing what's out there."
Forge shrugs, "You know Wolverine, he keep to himself. I probably know as much a you do, honestly." To the remark about the Wendigo, Forge agrees, "It is. But, you can't miss this one. Look him up in your data base sometime. Kids were lucky, al told, considering this thing has gone toe-to-toe with the Hulk."
Hearing that Wendigo has gone toe to toe with The Hulk, the surprise shows on Jessica's face. "Really, wow those kids are lucky. I'm glad they got lucky and are recovering okay. As much as I dislike working with kids I don't want to see any of them hurt. I'm sure SHIELD has a file on him and I'll look it up when I get the chance. So where were they that this happened?"
"Northern New Hampshire, near the Canadian border," Forge says in quick response, "I can get you the GPS coordinates if you're curious. Hell, I have to go up there and retrieve the van they left behind in rescue. If you're curious and bored, you can always come with me." He makes the face of a man who neither minds the idea, or is set on it.
"If you don't mind, I wouldn't mind the trip. I need to escape Tony and his Tonyisms for a bit and Robbie is…he's a lot to handle." Speedball is a bit to energetic for Jessica at times. "Jennifer is the only sanity I have around the mansion sometimes." But then she's the only other female. "Besides if we drive up there one of us can take the car back and the other the van though with you I doubt you have don't have a way to move both at the same time.'
Forge nods, "That might work. I'll let you know depending on what other volunteers I get between now and the weekend." He smiles, "Well, I hate to cut this short, but I have an engine tear-down in progress. I'll give you a call as soon as I have something in the works. I'll also let Scott and Emma know you stopped by."
"Keep in touch Forge, and have a good night." Jessica says as turns to leave but looks back. "Thank you for, for letting Scott and Emma know, good luck with that engine." She says as she turns and exits the mansion, preparing to fly back to Avengers Mansion.
