Xavier Mansion - Living Room

Cream colored couches and chairs are placed among end tables and a coffee table. A large entertainment center covers one of the blue walls. The windows are set back a bit creating comfortable window seats for those who want to read.

Early morning has arrived in the mansion. It's still a bit before most of the students start their classes, but some students aren't in their rooms. One of those is Leo Osborne. No, he's not awake, he's just out of his room. On one of the cream colored couches, the young man rests. His body is glowing more than it has been in the past, today. He's wrapped under a blanket that can't even hold back some of the light. In his arm is a white teddy bear. The arm wrapped around the teddy bear is also linked to his mouth via thumb. It's one of those scenes that screams adorable to some.

Daisuke isn't the best sleeper in the world and woke up in the middle of the night after a nightmare and wasn't able to go back to sleep. He's already taken a shower and grabbed a can of coke along with a muffin for breakfast and has decided to just relax in the quiet of the living room. He's on his way to walk over to the window when he spots Leo just sleeping there. It is a cute image but he gets the feeling he's walked into something personal and debates just leaving.

Arms stretch over his head as Leo awakens, yawning broadly. Blinking, he looks around quickly. Seeing Dai, he blushes. His thumb comes out. "Sorry. My roommate was complaining about the light again. Haven't gotten around to asking for a new room." He says, softly. With his eyes open, the light shining from them is… quite bright.

"Oh no, sorry for waking you up." Daisuke says a bit nervously. "And too bright? Something like that wouldn't bother me, I don't like the dark." He admits and he always feels weird being an eighteen year old kid whose doesn't like the dark. "Are you always, that bright in the morning?"

Shaking his head Leo sighs. "I've been getting brighter every day. And… so full of energy." He says. And obviously, he went to full wakefulness quite quickly. He gets out of the blanket-tangle and folds his blanket, placing the bear on top of it. he's wearing shorts and a t-shirt. "I don't know why, really."

Daisuke shrugs. "I don't know much about superpowers, not like Eddie, but he did have a theory. I guess he was looking into it for you." He says running a hand through his hair. "He said something about living light? I really didn't understand it though, just that it's a rare power to have?"

"No clue." Leo says with a bit of a shrug. "I haven't seen him in a couple days. Been on different schedules I guess." He sits back on the couch. "All I know is light and that I can do those hadoken things now." He chuckles. "And that I'm stronger."

"I asked Eddie to teach me more about superheroes and their powers, especially if we're going to be X-Men together." Daisuke says moving to sit down next to Leo on the couch. "I'm supposed to be really book smart and all that but when it comes to superheroes and super powers I don't know a lot and I'd like to know more. Maybe we can find him later and talk to him. He'd definitely know more."

"Oooh. It sounds like a fun goal, honestly. I mean, I don't know much about superheroing, but since I can't do what I want to do anymore, and my power kinda gives me that whole 'We Know What You Are' problem, what else can I go for? I'd make a lousy villain." Leo says with a chuckle as he starts patting around on the floor for something. After a moment, he lifts one side of the couch effortlessly, grabbing a cellphone from under it.

Daisuke grabs onto the couch as Leo lifts it and opens his eyes wide. "You're really strong too?" He asks sounding surprised. "But I know what you mean, I'd make a horrible villain myself. And even though I tend to get in a lot of trouble and have a lot of bad luck, I do want to try to the superhero thing. It's just nice to feel like you've done something good."

"Not as strong as some people here. I can lift a few hundred pounds. Well… half a ton." Leo says with a bit of a blush. "More right now, for some reason." He says, with a shrug, flopping back onto the couch. "With no other goals for the moment, that's the only one I can take." He grins.

"That's kind of how I felt." Daisuke admits with a kind of embarrassed smile. "My only goal was to get the best grades I could so I could go to any college to get as far away from home as possible, but being here kind of negated that, so I figured the Super-hero route was the only option, but I like it. And maybe we should head to the library or something to see what we can find out about this living light and see what's going on?"

"From what I've been able to find…" Leo says, biting his lip. He did a little research on that Dagger chick. "There only seems to be one other person with it. Well, KNOWN to be one other person with the same kinda stuff. If it's even that." He says, shrugging. "Sure."

"Only one? Who?" Daisuke asks as he probably hasn't heard of the person anyway. "And man, if there's only one, I don't know what we can find." Eddie might be the best option later since he's a walking enclyopedia of that stuff. "Where they an X-Men at all because that might help?"

"No, but one of the New Mutants… I think her name was Rahne? Something like that… once was forced to carry it. You didn't hear him?" Leo tilts his head at that. "Eddie said her name was Dagger. She came back to help the other girl get adjusted after the powers wore off. They were offered a place here to learn, but refused. Her and her partner, whatever his name was." Leo just studies. That's all.

"Eddie's my best friend but he talks about heroes so much that I forget who is who." Daisuke admits sheepishly. "And Dagger, that's right. Eddie'd probably be the best to talk to about this. It sounds like you already dug up anything out there. He sometimes spends the night at his house so he might be here for classes later." He says looking down at the uneaten muffin in his hand.

Leo waves a hand at the muffin. "Eat. It's ok. I'll grab something in a bit." He laughs, running a hand through his white hair. "That's weird to me, too. It was always a dark blond. Now it's white."

"Are you sure you don't want half?" Daisuke says starting to unwrap it. "I didn't go through too many changes when I found out I had powers, but it did help something’s make sense. And I think the white hair kind of looks cool." He admits with a faint smile.

"Nah. I'm fine." Leo says with a chuckle. "Oh, I got bright before and then I…" Leo says, blinking as things click. "Oh crap." One plus one finally added together in his head. "I gotta get away from people for a while."

Daisuke gives Leo a confused look. "Why, what happened, and do you want to go outside? There really isn't anyone out there this time of morning?" And the fact that it's a bit chilly outside too. "Are you okay?" He is a bit concerned for Leo as he does like him as a friend.

"Last time I got this bright was just before I let everything out. Remember what I told you happened before?" Leo says with a wrinkle of his lips. "I don't know when it'll happen again, or even if it will, but that's what happened last time."

"Well you said no one got hurt last time, but do you want to go outside for a walk, just incase?" Daisuke says standing up. "Wait, how about downstairs to the gym, we can just hang out there for a while incase? I just don't want you to worry about something happening while getting dressed to go out there."

"No, nobody got hurt, I just don't want to… ya know… hurt… anyone." Sure, his powers don't SEEM to be harmful, but who knows? Leo sure doesn't. He's never used them against another person on purpose.

"Well I can put a sonic barrier around myself in case something happens." Daisuke offers, it's one of the tricks he's really studied with his powers. "I know, I don't want to hurt anyone either. Come on, we can hang out down in the gym for a bit? I'm sure your bear will be safe up here?"

"Will sound hold back light?" Leo asks. That's some strong sound. But then, he hasn't studied powers, so it's all weird to him. "I… I think I'm ok for right now. I don't feel really weird yet. I just wanted to get away for when it DOES happen."

Daisuke shrugs. "I don't know, I just know it can hold back some energies and light is an energy. I don't know how different light is from living light though." Daisuke admits and this is why he wants Eddie to teach him more about superpowers. "So can I ask, why do you sleep with a bear? I don't think it's a bad thing just not many kids our age still sleep with stuffed animals."

Leo shrugs. "Dunno. It's just comfortable. And… my family gets me one every year. This one, just after Christmas, because of my hair turning white." He says, motioning to the bear and his hair. "And it fits in my arm better than a pillow."

Daisuke smiles and swallows a bit of muffin. "So your parents don't mind that you're a mutant?" He says actually thinking that it's a good thing. "And sometimes I just use a pillow when I have trouble sleeping, which is a lot." Daisuke admits with a slight blush.

"They can't change it, and they know better than to try." Leo explains with a shrug. "And they know that it's not my fault or really even theirs. Not something that can be changed. If anything, they accept reality."

Daisuke kicks off his shoes and brings his legs up to kind of curl up on the couch. He does smile though. "My Grandmother was like that. She just accepted the fact that I am a mutant and I think after everything I went through that was just the least of our concerns." He says with a chuckle.

"In the grand scheme of things, it could be worse." Leo nods. "I mean, my parents would rather have a gay, mutant son than say… a straight, normal, murderer." He says with a shrug.

"Could be worse? There's nothing wrong with being what you are." Daisuke says thinking 'it could be worse' is an odd choice of words. "I don't think my father cared about what I was."

"Oh, I know that. It's just old folks thinking." Leo laughs. "Gotta think like they do to understand why they say things like that. I mean, the biggest issue was the gymnastics training. All those years down the drain and no endorsements to go with it."

Daisuke's face grows hard for a second and there's a flicker of something like anger that flashes quick but he relaxes quickly. "I'm sorry that you had to give that up, but the Danger Room is really fun I bet all that gymnastics training will come in handy if you ever do want to be a hero. I know Nightcrawler is crazy when it comes to that kind of stuff, but he also teleports."

"Teleporting… I cannot do." Leo says with a chuckle. "But then again, I just gained my powers, so who knows what the future holds." He laughs softly, shrugging. "Oh, I'm not against all of that. I just wonder, ya know?"

"There's a lot I'm learning beside just screaming." Daisuke says with a shrug. "I'm just starting my flying lessons. And yeah, I know what you mean, the wondering thing. If you ever want to just talk about things, I'll listen. I'm not great at giving advice but I can listen?"

"Flying must be fun." Leo chuckles. "If you can get it to work. I wonder how fast you can get when you learn how to do it." He says, just pondering things. He hasn't really tried running or anything of that nature yet, so really doesn't know if he's any faster than a normal person.

"I think it will be, just trying to get the frequency right and everything is tricky." Daisuke admits. "It's a lot different then just putting up a barrier or stunning someone, but I'm going to get a training uniform with those weird arm things like Syrin and Banshee have."

"Weird arm things?" Leo asks. He obviously doesn't have a clue what Dai is talking about there. He shrugs. "Ohyeah… costumes. That'll be interesting." He says, grinning as he already starts planning things for his own.

"Yeah, I don't know what to call them." Daisuke says. "I guess you can say it's kind of like a sail where it catches the sound and you can use it to propel yourself around. I guess going backwards is a lot easier than forward and I know it's going to take a lot of practice. I just have the training uniform but I do have a codename."

"Ah. I haven't really given it much thought. I mean, I've only been here a few weeks. And, honestly, codenames and stuff change over time. A lot of people take new ones as things happen. At least, from what I heard when I was walking past some people." Leo grins. "So I'm not quite ready to paint myself into a corner yet."

"I chose Howl and it's fit so far. I mean it's a lot better than Shout or Scream or something." Daisuke says with a chuckle. "Some people do but some people, like Mr. Summer's, have never changed theirs to my knowledge. It's not rush to get a codename." Daisukes says running a hand through his hair again.

"Yeah, I know. I just gotta figure out what works best for me." Leo says, nodding as he stretches his arms out over his head. He scratches his chest idly as he tries to think… but just can't. He doesn't even know what he's trying to think of at the moment.

"Maybe you gotta start hanging around Eddie or me or both more often, we're magnets for trouble." Daisuke says leaning back on the arm of the couch. "I just attract bad luck so that might be it, but even without attracting trouble, you should hang out with us more often, you're cool."

"I dunno about cool, but hey. It's not like most of the people here LIKE to hang out. Most of them do their thing and go. I think a lot of them are still mad at their bodies for turning mutant." Leo says with a shrug. "Get over it." He rolls his eyes.

"I never understood the people who are bitter about being a mutant, I can honestly says finding out I was a mutant was the best thing that ever happened to me." Daisuke says with a shrug. "And hey, I like to hang out with my friends it beats sitting around and feeling sorry for myself all day."

"Exactly what I said about things." Leo says with a quick nod. His phone vibrates and he glances down at it. He smiles. "Oooh, my allowance was deposited for the week." He says happily. Not that he has to worry about money, but still.

Daisuke looks over at Leo as he says the thing about the allowance and sighs a bit. "You know, you're really lucky." He says and even if a part of him is a bit jealous he's happy that Leo has a family that seems to care for him.

"I… I do know. I try not to take it for granted either. But then, I don't really want to just go back home and have to force them to alter their plans because I'm there. I know they wouldn't think of it that way, I would." Leo says with a nod. "We should all go out for pizza later. You, me, Eddie… maybe some others."

Daisuke smiles and nods. "I'm a bit envious that you have a good family but I'm also happy for you. I'm glad that your parents still care for you and are there for you." He means it too, he knows he didn't get that kind of life so he's just happy that Leo didn't have the hardships he had. "That sounds great, I know of a few pretty good pizza places in Salem Center. There's also Pallaton but he gets grumpy about going out with his image inducer." Daisuke says making a face.

"Then we rent a place so he doesn't have to. And make sure they're fine with it." Leo says with a shrug. He's loaded, but then, he's never really said he was. "Lots of places will rent out an area where people can be alone."

"Really? Well I can always help to pitch in and rent a place that will allow it." Daisuke says. The only reason he has money is that he inherited everything from his father being the only living heir. "Money isn't that big of a problem for me."

"Me either." Leo says with a grin. "Rents are loaded." He snickers, shrugging. "I think it'll be fun!"

"My mother passed away when I was little and then my father died almost two years ago so I pretty much got everything." Daisuke says with a shrug. "Only good thing my father did for me." He says with a faint smile.

"Well… Have you ever read business magazines and looked at the top names? Worthington… DaCosta… Frost… Shaw… and so forth?" Leo asks, biting his lip lightly. He hates to brag, but… "Down around number eight or nine is Osborne."

Daisuke shakes his head. "No, I never really did but wow. I don't have that kind of money I just have what the asshole left me and then pretty much sold everything in the house, so yeah. I didn't much of anything that was in there, too many bad memories. I was going to use it to go to college but I'm…I don't really know what to go for." From his face it's obvious that not knowing what to go to college for is a lie.

"You'll figure it out eventually. Or you'll come to terms with something you already know. Whichever way it is." Leo doesn't know Dai well enough to accurately judge his desires and needs out of a future, so…

"I just like it here too, I'll admit that." Daisuke says with small embarrassed chuckle. "It's the first places that's really felt like home so I don't want to leave and just end up in a crowded school with people I don't know away from my friends…"

Tilting his head, Leo blinks. "I thought they had college courses here, too. I could have sworn that's what they told my parents. Either that, or they worked with colleges that would allow good distance learning programs."

"I don't know, I never talked to anyone about that. Right now I just offered to help anyone who needs it, kind of like tutoring." Daisuke says. "I..would have probably been Valadictorian in my old high school but they don't have that here, so I don't mind helping people." He says turning a bit red, he doesn't like to brag about his grades. "Maybe next semester, I just don't know what I'd go for. Art? I like it but that's just a hobby, along with drumming."

"Ah, like my gymnastics is now." Leo says with a knowing nod. He does understand after all. "But you could always look for another major, for when the world actually accepts us. And lots of people seem to have other jobs, other than just superheroing."

"I just have to think what I want to major in. I mean art is an option but how many people make a living off of it? I don't want to be an accountant or finance or anything." Daisuke admits with a chuckle. "That is true though, how much of a job is superheroing? Also there are so many heroes out there."

"Yeah, it doesn't exactly pay well." Leo says with a snicker as he stretches again. "Gotta come up with something you like to do. But, you can get your base college courses out of the way."

"I like hanging out with my friends but that doesn't count." Daisuke says with a laugh. "I like playing the drums but I'm too shy to be in a band or anything but I'm only eighteen it's not like I have to decide my life now. Next semester the base classes should be the best option."

"Get your bases covered and go from there. Never hurts to get the start going. I mean, College is a slow process. Might as well get the easy stuff out of the way." Leo says with a bright nod as he bounces in his position on the couch. Today, he's actually glowing. And his eyes are as bright as 40-watt light bulbs.

"Sixteen. Only a sophomore. Still got a little while ahead of me." Leo admits, as he moves to follow into a similar position, just because it looks fun.

Daisuke chuckles. "So I'm the old one of the bunch." He says folding his arms over his stomach. "So you feeling any better than earlier? I mean do you still feel like you're going to…do that again?" Daisuke asks with a bit of concern, not for himself but more for Leo.

"I don't know. I don't remember what it felt like before. But I still have all the energy and the strength." Leo says with a bitten lip. He glances around, sighing softly.

Backpack on his shoulders, Eddie Parker-Mayfair passes by the living room door while humming a tune. He backtracks a moment later and smiles when he sees who's in the room. "Hey Dai, Leo," he greets, wandering in. In jeans and a Fantastic Four t-shirt, he moves to sit down on a free couch. "What's going on?"

Daisuke hrms it looks like he's trying to figure out something. "What happens if you try to release some of that energy? Like another haddoken?" Daisuke wonders and as Eddie enters, Daisuke grins from his odd position on the couch. "Heya Eddie, I was telling Leo about your theory, well not all of it cause I don't remember all of it."

"Oh crap, I gotta get to class." Leo says as he glances at his watch, suddenly backflipping off the couch. Yes, he's that graceful. "Eddie, we're going for pizza tonight. You in?" He asks as he heads towards the door before darting out. He'll let Dai explain things.

Eddie blinks at Dai and then jumps as Leo backflips. "I uhh…yeah, sure," he says, surprised. "See ya later…" he trails off. He blinks a few times then looks to Dai.

"Leo and I were just talking, we're gonna go for pizza later. We're gonna drag you along." Daisuke says turning so his sitting right-side up on the couch. "I like Leo, he's really nice and we were just talking how it's better to be friends with people here and hang out then spend your time just feeling sorry for yourself. I don't want to be depressed this year."

Eddie listens to Dai and nods. "Oh," he replies. "Why were you upside down?" he asks. "And that is better. Much better," he agrees.

"I don't know, I just kind of felt like sitting like that." Daisuke says with a shrug. "Leo kind of followed suit. I was telling him your theories with living light and such and he looked up stuff on that hero Dagger you were telling him about."

Eddie nods, leaning to the side a bit. Setting his backpack down on the floor, Eddie smiles. "What'd he think about it?" he asks. "Think it might be accurate or…" he trails off.

"I think he thought it was a possibility. Can…Living Light build up inside a person until it kind of explodes?" Daisuke asks seeming a bit concerned. "I know you know about this stuff and I don't really know."

Eddie pauses, blinking a few times. "I…" he bites his lip. "I'm not sure. I know there's something about DarkForce and Living Light needing to interact that's important but…" he trails off. "Is Leo okay?"

Daisuke shakes his head. "Yeah, I think he's okay. Just remember what he said about what happened with him kind of exploding light? I think it might happen again. No one got hurt the last time but he was glowing really bright this morning."

Eddie squirms on the couch. "That…that might be bad," he says. "I'd have to do a bit more research…"

"Let me research it with you, I really want to learn about this superhero stuff." Daisuke says as he leans against Eddie. "Does anyone in this school use Dark Force at all?"

Eddie jumps, slipping an arm around his friend. "Sure, Dai," he replies. "Maybe after we come back from pizza if we're not too tired we can start searching for info," he says. He then looks up thoughtfully. "I think…Mr. Glitpatrick is a DarkForce user. And I remember Bobby mentioning running into someone who used it in the City a while back. Maybe if we can't find anyone here at the mansion, we can try to find them," he shrugs a bit.

Daisuke slips his arm around Eddie in return. "Maybe Mr. Gilpatrick can help? But then oposites might not be a good thing." He says frowning a bit. "But anyway, pizza tonight should be fun. Anyone else you can think that will want to go? Maybe drag Ricky along?"

Eddie nods. "That's why I wanna research a bit more," he says. "In case they hurt one another…man…if we knew were Cloak and Dagger were we could ask them," he says. There's a pause. "Maybe, maybe we could look for them," he says, getting a little spark in his eye. "Sure! I'll call him and ask if he wants to come along after my Danger Room session. Maybe we can get Julian and maybe Pallaton to come along too."

Daisuke nods even though he's a bit uncomfortable around Julian, even if he doesn't know him that well. "How do we look for Cloak and Dagger? And sure, if Pallaton will go out without his image inducer. But Leo said we could always try to rent out a place."

Eddie blinks a few times. "Rent out a place?" he asks, confused. "And…well, it's a far fetched idea…but maybe just asking around the city," he says with a sheepish smile. "Or searching around. I mean…I know the city pretty well and with the Goblin Glider I can cover more ground. And if we work together we might be able to find 'em eventually…unless they're not in New York…" he frowns. "Maybe we can just ask Mr. Summers."

"Asking Mr. Summers might be best. I just can't think of how we can do it with out running all over the city yelling for Cloak or Dagger." Daisuke says with a grin as he squeezes Eddie's shoulder. "I also can't really yell for anyone without wrecking stuff."

Eddie squeezes Dai right back and chuckles. "I was thinking a more quiet asking than yelling. If we run around yelling, they'll think we're either crazy or really lame super villains," he laughs. "But yeah…I'll ask Mr. Summers if he knows anything. Maybe he knows someone who might know something too."

"Good, cause I would probably break too much stuff going around yelling." But then Daisuke's scream really isn't horribly powerful. "Mr. Summers is definitely the best person to ask. Oh man, I have a another flying lesson in a bit."

Eddie chuckles. "Either him or Ms. Frost…and Ms. Frost is away on business again," he says. "Well…maybe Mr. Logan or Dr. McCoy could help too but yeah," he nods. "I know, I've got my session right after ya. Some kind of no-powers rescue thing," he smiles as he thinks about this.

Daisuke gives Eddie a tight side hug that lasts for a couple seconds. "Okay, good luck with your rescue, I'll see you later Eddie." Daisuke says as he gets up, puts his shoes back on and heads out for his flying lesson.

Eddie returns the hug and then stretches. "Good luck with you lesson, Dai!" he calls. He watches his friend go before pulling out his homework to get started on.
