Xavier Mansion - Music Room

The music room has four levels of tiers that each sit one row in a semi circle. On the floor in the semi circle is grand piano. There is a large closet on either side of the room, one filled with string instruments and the other filled with various wind and brass instruments. There are a few guitars in the back of the room next to a large variety of percussion instruments. All the instruments here are for the students to use provided they take care of them and clean any necessary parts after they use it. The room is sound proof, so once the door is closed, the music being played will not interrupt the other classrooms.

It's afternoon at the mansion and there's one lone person in the music room, the music teacher Kenta Gilpatrick. He's been gatherig things together for the new school season but has become a bit distracted with his guitar. He's hooked up his red guitar, Motoko, and is currently just jaming away to relax and have some fun. He's got one foot up on one of the chairs as he plays his guitar solo. He's dressed in a pair of torn jeans and t-shirt with a pair of sunglasses on even though he's inside.

Settling into her role as the school's newest teacher — much to the chagrin of everyone — Selene spent the last little bit tracking down Kenta to perform some scholastic duties. Entering the music room with no more than the clack-clack-clack of heeled boots, she displays a piece of folded paper between her middle and ring finger. Scowling lightly, she stops a short ways from Kenta and asks, "Have you seen this?"

The music stops sort and Kenta puts his hand over the strings to silence it before unplugging his guitar. He looks over at the piece of paper but it's folded so he's not really sure. "I don't know, what's on it?" He asks as starts shuttign down all of his equpiment.

"Well," Selene starts as she hands the paper over, "It seems as if your charge has been taking liberties with his extra-curricular activities." Smiling ever so slightly, she gives Kenta the low-down he may already know about, "The school's monitoring system picked up a threat at the mall. Mutants were involved. So the mall cops called the real cops, and the real cops conveniently show up after everyone has left. However, you should see the Mall camera footage that has been placed on the teacher's network." The smile grows a little larger, "The part where Lucas shoves a child is one of the many highlights recorded. And one of many that we've been choosen to deal with."

Kenta lets out a sigh and shakes his head. "Fuck." He says as he plans on giving Lucas a good smack upside the head to knock some common sense in his mind. "Do we have access to the video tape…I'd like to take a look at it." He just wants to see how bad this is. "I heard a bit about it but I didn't get the full details yet but." He can't help but notice how Selene seems to get enjoyment from it. "I'm surprised that mall even lets us in there after we've fucked it up so many times." He grumbles.

Fully aware of the bond that the teacher and student share, Selene is enjoying this in spades. After all, is there a more poetic way to deal with Lucas betrayal to her than to offer the same favor? "Yes," she applies to the question, "It's on the teacher's network in some sort of a computer format. Whatever you call it. As for how it was gotten? I was not part of that discussion. But, with as wired as this world has become, I don't doubt it could have been plucked out of the mall's security system." It's not the first time, and won't be the last.

Kenta goes over to his laptop and turns it on and there it is, in the school email he hasn't checked today. "I don't really care how it was aquierd Scott and Emma always seem to have their ways." He doesn't question them and with the around here, he'd be more suprised if they couldn't. "So, let's watch this thing." He says as he sits through the video of Lucas, Hosea and Robyn at the mall, the kid getting shoved doesn't bother him as much but it's the open display of powers. "That idiot." He grumbles after seeing the tape. "Seriously, he took off his glove intentionally, god, does he even use his brain?"

"As much as can be expected by one of Xavier's," Selene says with a flourish of her hand. "Personally, I'd blame the failure on the adults closest to him," she adds as she gives Kenta a downcast look, "But, I'm not really sure they can live up to taking that responsibility." It's a dig, directed at the teacher from a previous conversation involving name-calling. "However, it now falls on us to right the situation. Me as his squad leader. You as his teacher."

"Thanks Selene, I'm happy to disapoint you so." Kenta says as he doesn't let her words get to him. "Oh I'm definately going to be talking to Lucas about this." He sighs as he needs to find a way to get Lucas to think before he acts cause that's the problem. The kid is beyond brash. "You know what he doesn't get, they have his face on camera. Not only his by Hosea and Robyn's as well which leaves us with the issue of, who else can find this tape and figure out who these kids are."

"That, among other things," the woman suggests before asking, "So, that's your plan? To talk to him?" Selene nods to the idea, "I prefer actions over simple, easily ignored words. So, my route will be slightly different." And, thankfully, legal.

"Yes I plan to - just - talk to him, take him out for a cup of tea, maybe a slap on the wrist after I give him a butterfinger if I feel like it." Luckly Selene can't see Kenta roll his eyes since they're solid black. "I still have to think of something that -will- be a punishment for him, but while I'm thinking, what's you're plan Oh Great One."

Selene says, "Yep. Basically, now I have to correct the crap script because the Princess Studio Guy doesn't have time to make revisions."

"Simple," Selene responds, "Children want to live in a consequence-free world. Having seen several examples of this through the eyes and ears of James, I'm very aware of the extent he is willing to go to get his way and to bully others into it. So, I will deal with him like I would any child who needs to be made an example of." She leans on her hip, "It was suggested that he co-lead the team I am now in charge of. Since he is unable to relate to other students or mundanes on even a basic level — something required of a leader — you remove the offer and revise it so that anyone in the group has the opportunity to earn it. Suddenly, it's a competition. He'll either accept the challenge or leave. Should he choose the latter, he is no longer my problem."

"Fuck me." Kenta says not because he's pissed but because he agrees with her. "I can't argue that. Really. I mean with Lucas you can't give him a 'standard' punishment, it becomes routiene with him. You gotta hit him where he's gonna feel it and it's going to affect him and I can't argue that one." Then he looks at Selene and gives her a questioning look. "Holy hell, you're in charge of it? Well isn't that just grand."

"Now there's a suggestion," Selene says with a smirk before adding, "The secondary one, of course." The sigh and bland look tell it all, "The leadership role was not my idea. This was something Emma dreamed up as part of the repayment for my continued stay. If you don't like it, I suggest you tell her." No, really, please. Maybe if she gets enough complaints… "So, what is your plan for Lucas?"

"Honestly, I'd have to think. I mean he just got done with the last thing I gave him but I gotta think of something that shows him the consequences of his actions." Kenta says pushing his hair back. His brow is creased showing that he's really pondering it. "He didn't just endanger himself but everyone in that mall along with two of his classmates. He has to understand how bad it was that he did."

If there's one thing Selene knows, it's how to be a taskmaster. And dreaming up punishments is as easy as it comes. "If it were me," she suggests, "I would start with the only thing that you truly hold over him. His teaching position." Her eyes give Kenta a long, hard look, "He's in a position where he's setting an example. And unless the type of example you'd like him to set involves drugging the medical bay staff…" She's not sure if that last part was public knowledge. Of course, she doesn't care if not.

Kenta shakes his head. "No, that's not the right way to go about it. Are you hitting him where it hurts, sure but you're not going to make Lucas feel like he's wrong that way. He's just gonna get bitter and pissed off and it's a step backwards." He's not saying that as an excuase, he just thinks that is how Lucas would react. "This is something I really have to think about, taking away something won't teach him about what he did."

There's a shrug of shoulders. The type that spells out that Selene doesn't so much mind the overkill tactics. Burn it down, salt the earth. And if it were to cause Lucas to walk out? It would only make her job easier in the end. "As you wish," she says as she finds a desk to lean against. "Is this something we will present together, or separately?"

"I think presenting it together would be the best." Kenta says slowly as he knows this could go a few ways but he wants Lucas to know the severity of the issue. "We'll see how he reacts to that and I'll take it from there. I want him to know I stand by the decision and that what he did isn't something to take lightly and shrug off."

"As you wish," Selene repeats. A simple acknowledgment to Kenta's decision. Nothing more. "Why you would need to reinforce your decision with a child is not something I understand. But that is something I won't concern myself with." She stands fully once again and looks as if she is about to take her leave, "You'll let me know when you plan to speak with him?"

"Sure, I'll let you know when we plan t speak with him." Kenta says as she's just as deep in this as he is. "And I don't expect you to understand Selene, and thanks." He says with a shrug. "Now anything else you wanna speak to me about or is this little social gathering over?"

"I have nothing more," Selene responds flatly, "So I'll take my leave." She turns towards the door, taking her odd, out-of-place presence with her. She wasn't bred for this type of interaction and child management. And it shows in more places than just the cracks, "Hera help me if I have to do this for more than another month."

Kenta watches Selene leave and shakes his head. "Yes, because being a teacher is a world of hard work. Good luck with that team you're leading." He says as instead of going back to playing his guitar Kenta starts going through his stuff while pondering, what to do about Lucas.
