Manhattan - Subway Terminal

The subway tunnels run through the city like long dark arteries. The platforms at this station are large slabs of cement. The yellow lines tell the patrons to stay back from the edge, and the signs above indicate when the next train will arrive. This station has a central platform as well, the South-bound trains arrive on one side of that platform and the North-bound trains arrive on the other side.

Scene

The subway patrons appear a bit annoyed today. All of the recent construction in the tunnels has caused a major delay along this particular line. The majority of the crowd appears to be younger people of college age dressed to go out to the bars, though there are a few nicer dressed individuals who appear to have recently gotten out of a Broadway production.

In the streets above there are a few shouts and some screaming. A large black creature has just burst out of Central park and charged straight into an intersection. The lights and cars seem to have confused the beast, which stopped dead and unleashed a terrifying howl before charging toward one of the subway terminals. The creature resembles some sort of large black werewolf, though its ears are extremely long and it it wearing a tattered lab coat. The beast shoves people aside as it runs down into the subway.

The alert went of Avengers Mansion that some monster was terrorizing the streets of New York City and Spider-Woman was the one to respond. Now she's patched into the computer so she can get coordinates on her Avengers communicator. She's flying in the sky in her red and yellow costume trying to listen for the screams of the people. She gets to the area in time to see The Beast head down the subway stairs and flies down to the streets, landing, to chase after him. People part the way for the superheroine, some running away once she passes and others curiously watching to see a superhero fight in person.

Hellhound stops once he reaches the bottom of the stairs. The creature sniffs the air a couple of times and swivels his ears in different directions, apparently trying to keep track of all of the sounds around him. The patrons on this side of the platform all seem to panic when the creature appears, running away from it further away from the exit stair. The people on the platforms across the tracks also begin to move, these ones running out of the subway and back up onto the street.

"Spider-Woman to Avengers Mansion, I am tracking the hostile man and have spotted him in the subway." Spider-Woman continues to rattle off a more exact location along with getting back up for crowd control, ie The Police. Now that the beast has stopped, she lands not to far from Hellhound and address him. "Don't move any further!" She knows he won't respond to her request but it gets his attention on her.

The creature glances up as the woman leaps in front of him. His ears both swing forward and he cocks his head slightly as she speaks to him. Hellhound drops down to all fours and raises his hackles before letting out an unworldy roar. The sound causes the crowd to panic, one or two of them jumping down onto the tracks to climb up the other side. Hellhound backs up a bit, not enjoying the direct challenge he seems to be getting from Spider Woman. The creature lowers himself and tenses up before charging forward, leaping at the heroine in front of him.

There's almost a bored look on her face, well at least her mouth, as the creature roars, as if he's not impressed. "I guess this is the part where if Spider-Man were here he'd have something witty to say but me…I don't care so much for banter." What does get a reaction from Spider-Woman is the beast leaping at her. She braces herself for the incoming Hellhound and puts a hand out in front of her. Not to stop the impact but to fire a Venom Blast at him. Her hand glows green and the Venom Blast is fired at Hellhound, a shot aimed to hit his nervous system.

The Creature bounds forward toward the woman, not slowing as she takes a defensive stance. The Venom Blast strikes him in the face, causing him to stop his charge and scream out in rage and confusion. The beast paws at his face and rubs his muzzle on the ground, apparently trying to shake himself of the effects of whatever she just hit him with.

While the Creature appears stunned many of the people in the subway tunnels skirt around him to get up the stairs. A single woman seems to be fighting her way through the tide of people as she attempts to make it down the stairs. She seems almost relieved when she sees the creature standing there in the subway. The woman runs forward, wearing a similar lab coat to the beast. "Richard! Richard it's me, Emily. You have to calm down." The woman appears to be holding a small silver case of some sort.

Hellhound shakes his head a few times, spattering saliva around a bit and turning to face this new thing that seems to be talking to him. He decides she looks a little less threatening than Spider Woman and lumbers forward toward the new prey item.

The woman sees to know this…beast, this….Richard, but Jessica doesn't take her chances. "Ma'am, give me a moment, I can calm him but stay back he is dangerous right now." She commands of Emily before taking out a small spray bottle (don't ask from where) and applies it to herself letting her pheromones wash over Richard. Sure it might cause Emily to become hostile towards her but she's hoping that 'Richard' can still respond to her 'charm' and it will calm him. "Richard…is that your name. Like this woman said Richard, you have to calm down." Her voice is almost…/almost/ sultry as she says it but then she is letting of that scent that cause men to stare.

The creature moves toward Emily a few more steps before slowing down and cocking an ear toward Spider Woman. He opens his mouth and huffs air a couple times before turning toward her and moving away from Emily. He approaches Spider Woman cautiously this time, circling around the woman and growling deeply. It is clear that he is interested in whatever the woman has applied to herself, but he still appears aggressive.

Emily holds up her hand to the heroine. "Wait! You're…Spider Woman, right? I'm the one who called the Avengers. I'm his lab assistant!" She opens the case and pulls out a bottle and a syringe. "I have an inhibiter that SHOULD restore his mind to him. I just need to get it injected into him." She begins prepping the shot.

It's not that Spider-Woman applied anything to give the effect, what she applied was to counter the suppressant she uses to hide her natural pheromones. "Thank you for calling us now…I'll try to keep him distracted and you can inject it into him." She says as she'll talk to them all about Hydra once this is over. "Richard, listen to me, stay calm, there are people here to help you. I'm Spider-Woman, the Avenger." She reaches out a hand to him while still standing her ground. "Trust me Richard, we can help you."

Emily's hands shake as she fumbles with the drug. She manages to work the needle into the bottle and pull the plunger back. The woman expels the excess air and steps forward. "Richard, I need to administer the inhibitor. It'll just be a quick prick, ok?" She continues to approach slowly.

The Creature turns away from Spider Woman when Emily gets too close. It roars and lashes out at her with its tail, knocking the woman back. Hellhound seems to hesitate for a moment, trying to decide which of the women to go after. He decides that the one who is knocked down will be an easier kill and charges at Emily.

The geneticist on the ground screams as the monster approaches her. She looks around for the needle but she seems to have dropped it. She sees it on the ground near Spider Woman. "There! The needle! You have to inject him!"

With surprising speed and agility, Spider-Woman scoops up the needle that Emily points is by her and flies right at Hellhound. "Sorry Richard." She says as she flies right into his back aiming to hit him in the shoulder. If she hits The Beast, Jessica will inject him with the Serum. "Emily, run if you can." She says in hopes that if this doesn't work. "I don't want you hurt." Jessica can take a few punches, Emily, probably not.

As Spider Woman strikes the Creature it skids to the side, stopping to twist it's body around and attack the woman. When the needle is injected he slows and stumbles a bit, falling forward and panting on the ground. The creature paws at its face a bit and roars a couple more times before standing up on its hind legs and clawing at its head.

Emily manages to scramble to her feet and steps forward rather than running away. "Richard!" She seems relieved. "I think it's working, that's the same reaction we saw in the rats. Thank you, Spider Woman." She looks around quickly. "He should regain his proper frame of mind shortly, but it won't last forever. And the people from my company have sent out a special team to neutralize him. If they find him, they'll kill him." She looks over at Richard, who seems to be calming down significantly.
As Hellhound stumbles after the injection, Spider-Woman lets go of him and jumps back to land on her feet. "What was the reaction you saw in the rats…actually, I think we all need to get to a safe place and somewhere to monitor his condition." She watches the two for a bit, knowing that Emily will have a better idea of what to do next. "And yes, I can help protect him from being killed, how long will the serum last?"

Emily steps forward toward the beast. "Richard? You there yet?" She looks over to Spider Woman. "The serum was supposed mimic mutant powers, but it caused severe rage and aggression. Apparently it was too much for Dr. McKnight's mind to handle." She shakes her head at the next question. "I'm not sure. All trials have been on rats. I'd say we have 25 hours, maybe 30 if we're lucky. I have more serum but we'll need someplace safe where we can keep him contained without him being arrested or hurting anyone."

The creature hunches down for a moment and seems to peer at its own claws. His eyes seem to have regained some manner of intelligence as he turns to them, "What…What is happening. Emily?" He looks back at his claws and then down at his body. "What happened? The serum worked, but what about the mutant inhibitor?" He looks around "Where are we?"

"Patch me into Ironman." Jessica says into her communicator while Emily and Richard talk a bit. She lets Tony know the situation and that she's going to be bringing the two to Avengers Mansion to see if they can get Bruce Banner or Tony Stark to assist. "Right now I think taking both of you to Avengers Mansion would be the best plan. Since you said HYRDA was involved Emily there is a lot I wish to talk to you about and I right now staying with us will keep you both the safest."

Emily nods. "Of course. I'll be happy to come along. I'll call my boyfriend and let him know I'll be home later." She walks back over to the silver case and begins to collect the remaining serums. "I'll need a laboratory to create more serum. I have enough for about a week, but I know the formula." She turns back to Richard, "Things will be ok. We'll get you back to normal somehow."

Richard seems still distracted by his own body, turning to look at his tail and reaching up to feel his ears. "I can hear…Everything." He cocks an ear to listen down the tunnel. "They've closed off this station because of me. Police are on their way it seems." He looks over at the two women. "Thank you for helping me. When can they pick us up?"

Jessica nods to Emily. "Just say as little as possible to your boyfriend and we'll let you call him from a secure line at the mansion." A line that can make sure her boyfriend's line isn't tapped. She taps on her communicator. "ETA on Quinn Jet arrival?" She asks and gets an answer for Richard. "I know Richard but…I can get us out. The Quinn Jet will be here any moment, let's head up so that we can be on our way."

Emily and Richard both nod to the woman, neither of them saying anything. Once Emily has finished collecting up her supplies the two of them cautiously make their way up the subway stairs. They find that the police cars have the intersection blocked off, but none of them are approaching the subway entrance. Apparently they have received word from Stark Towers not to engage the target. Richard stays just below street level, awaiting the jet.
