Xavier Mansion - Japanese Gardens

A large area of the grounds is landscaped with a Japanese Garden. A river filled with coi fish runs through the middle with a wooden bridge. There is even a small waterfall splashing on the rocks. Bamboo can be heard clacking on the rocks. A small statue of a Buddha can be found in various places. The trees hang over the area and when the flowers are in bloom, it brings a variety of color to the peaceful landscape.

It's night time but the dark has no effect on Kenta as he can see in the dark just as good as he can during the day. Those black eyes have some odd function to them. At the moment he's sitting on the ground, playing his guitar, as usual, a cigarette has been hanging out of his mouth. He's wanted to talk to Lucas for a while but he's been busy with his son that tonight he's finally hoping the student can meet him out here.

Lucas wanders up, wearing khaki shorts and a wifebeater, he's barefoot. "What?" he asks, with a sarcastic tone, and then he smiles. "Ah in trouble again?"

"Yeah you are…actually, you really surprised me Lucas. Thanks." Kenta says with a nod as he references Lucas' stunt with the kids the other day. "Actually I wanted to talk to you about a few other things from practices to..friends." He says as he feels Lucas might be the best person to talk to James. "Anyway, how are you settling with the new room?"

Lucas sighs, "Look, about that… Ah knew Ah was supposed to read, but come on… That fuckin' sucked." He rolls his eyes, "Ah just figured, you'd get over it." He walks ober and sits across from Kenta. "Honestly? Ah hate it. Ah miss Jim. He hates it. Ah'm havin' trouble reconcilin' it with him. He thinks Ah'm leavin' him. THAT'S what's wrong with staff here. Just like Ah told you an' old Connor. They do shit, an' don't even consider at all what it matters, because they think they know the what what."

Kenta nods and sighs. "Yeah, I know. I knew it'd be hard on you guys breaking you up. That's not a rule I can really bend though and anyway, James and I…I don't know if he told you but I think I'm on his shit list right now." Think is quite the understatement. "There's…a lot going on right now and change is always difficult and fuck, I sound like a fuddy duddy old fucker. Anyway, just, I was gonna ask you to watch out for James. He's having a rough time right now and I don't really know what to do about it." Hey, at least he's honest.

Lucas shakes his head, "It ain't the decision that's the problem, Prof." He sighs, "Yes, Ah should have a room not with a student now. That's not arguable. Totally get it. But Christ? Would it be so hard to talk to me about it first, and then let ME break it to Jimmy in a way what don't break him any worse than he already is? It's like, staff wants to play mentor, but only on their terms. Fuck that shit, Kenta. It has to change."

"Yeah…I kinda screwed that one up, just, it's hard to see a student struggling and not know what to do about it. We're human just as much and I dunno if I want to play mentor, I sure as fuck am not a good role model." Kenta says taking a long drag off his cigarette as if proving his point. "I just, right now I'm trying to give him space. Hell I wasn't even planning on telling him, I was looking for you but got him first. Right now, James, if he wants to talk to me, he'll talk, I'm not forcing him into anything."

Lucas laughs, "We AREN'T human." He sighs, "That's just it. Y'all have done this for so long, y'all think of yourselves as normal. These kids?" He gestures towards the mansion, "They all just found out they're freaks. Whether they are or not, that's how they feel. They are now being defined by somethin' what they got no control over. An' staff here would rather yell at them when they screw up instead of developing carin' relationships what might foster a situation where students feel like they can trust staffers enough to tell them when their roommates get possessed." He sighs, calming down a little. "Callous folk like Jono an' Addison need to step aside for folk like you."

Kenta smiles and shakes his head. "That's..not what I meant when I said that just, saying, I fuck up too sometimes, I make mistakes. I'm not perfect. And Lucas, I have to look at myself in the mirror, every day. I am -not- normal, believe me, I know it. I have a number on my arm to remind me of that along with my eyes." There's a deep breath at the names Jono and Addison. "Yeah, they…Addison should know better, so should Jono. But they, think they know best. I dunno, I admit, sometimes I get a bit to parenty, I think that's because I'm a Dad and it's hard, it's real hard seeing James like he is right now. I don't know what to do about it and I don't even know how I got myself on his shitlist but I'm hoping time helps."

Lucas sighs, "Yeah." He lets the silence hang a minute, then looks at Kenta, "You do alright." It's probably the most honest, serious thing he's ever said to Kenta. He meets the older man's eyes long enough to lock it down, then looks off into the darkness. "Ah'll never admit Ah said that, so don't go tellin' no body."

Kenta smiles at Lucas and nods. "Said what?" He jokes as he pushes his hair back with his hand. "Maybe I'll try again after he's had a bit of time to cool down. I just…I really worry about giving him a new roommate when another comes around. Maybe I'll have you interview them." Kenta says with a chuckle. "Unless you have any ideas?"

Lucas sighs. "Honestly?" He purses his lips, considering. "Connor? Maybe Robyn?" He shakes his head, "OR…" He grins, "If you want to maybe win a few points he won't admit you win? You could ask HIM."

Kenta smiles and points a finger at Lucas. "See, this is why I'm asking you, you know him better than anyone else. Well out of all the students I talk to." But Kenta's pretty sure the two are as thick as thieves. "I'm not looking for a 'holy shit sticks Kenta, you're the coolest teacher ever!', I'm just looking for a decent student teacher relationship. I really do care a lot about my Paragons. You included there chuckles."

Lucas rolls his eyes, "Ah ain't on that team no mores…" He chews his lip a second. Takes a deep breath. "So… About that…" He glances at Kenta, then back into the darkness. "Ah'd like to get your support on somethin'…" Swallows. "Ah'd like to pitch to Scott leadin' a team. Like, a junior XMen kinda thing. Take a few of the seniors here who've had more experience than others, who are gonna go into heroing when they grow up, put 'em together, under my lead. Give us the small time crime what cops ain't able to do, but smaller'n what XMen need to waste time with…"

Kenta nods slowly and notes that is similar to what James suggested. "Well..I do think that's a good idea. You still need training and a way to go about it, and if you're confident and leading, I think it's a good idea. You know there was an advanced team when I was a student here and I really think it's a good idea to bring it back. I don't think I can guide it and guide Paragons like I initially but maybe I can talk to Julian, he'd be up for it."

Lucas nods, "Dude, stay with the Paragons. Ah'll be alright now." He says it like a kid telling his father to worry about his younger brother now. "Ah don't really know Julian, but Ah'm sure it'll be fine. Just… When Ah talk to Scott… Can Ah tell him you'd be willin' to vouch for us? Ah'm thinking me, Jinx, James, Robyn. Maybe Connor."

"Yeah, I'll vouch for you Lucas, you know that." Kenta would do almost anything for Lucas or the other students on his team. "So, the same team James suggested, here's your mission for this team. Recruit them. Once you get a team together I can vouch for it. If you can get them to agree to follow you, you'll be good to be a leader I think."

Lucas smirks, standing. "Thanks, K-Dawg. You won't regret it!" He turns to head off, but then stops, turning around with that cocky arrogance that he somehow manages to keep just on the charismatic side, and he points both his fingers at Kenta. "Oh. Ah almost forgot to tell you. Jinx, Jim and Robyn already agreed. Waitin' on Connor to see if he's okay after the brainyshare thing." He winks, "Better make that appointment with Scott, big guy."

Kenta nods to Lucas. "No problem, I'll see if I can talk to him tomorrow, he'll probably want to talk to you too but I think it's a good idea. Learn you all some responsibility!" He says with a chuckle as he lights up another cigarette and starts to play more now that Lucas has wandered off.

Lucas laughs, "Tell him Ah'll talk to him." He then jogs off, excitedly.
