Barnes Academy - HoloQuad
Stepping into the HoloQuad one would almost forget that they were in an underwater school. The sky changes to reflect the time of day, sunny with clouds during the day to night time reflecting what the Northern Hemisphere would look like without light pollution. Sunsets and Sunrises are even reflected in the room. It's impossible to tell there is a ceiling up there. Plant life, benches, fountains and pathways make the room look like a luxurious park and unlike the sky, the rest of the room is real. Sometimes a breeze passes buy and the room is always a comfortable temperature giving the students a way to feel like they're outside enjoying the fresh air.
After a few days of getting used to his new room, tests of what he can do and medical tests to look into the implant in his head Kai is due to begin the training he signed upto as part of turning-over-a-new-leaf, as such that will bring up the possiblity of accedentaly running into Jeremy, so as another part of his agreement he's here to tell Jeremy that he's back before he finds out some other way.
It's not exactly an accident that Jeremy runs into Kai as one of the teachers told him he was wanted in the Holo-Quad. Finding it a bit strange, since he still has been very quite around the school, he makes his way into the room. It's always weird to him since he knows he's not really inside but it feels so real. Tugging on his gloves he walks into the room, and after a bit of walking around he finally spots Kai, and immediately freezes on the spot as fear seems to cause his chest to tighten.
Kai is leaning against a tree when Jeremy walks in, seeing his former roomate he straightens up, he starts walking towards him before stopping as it may not be the best course of action, man he really should've thought about this more, maybe made cue cards, "Err hey".
As Kai walks towards him there's an unconscious shake of the head as he takes a step back. "No…" He almost seems to beg as he takes a second step back. "Get…get away from me!" He yells before turning and heading to run away from Kai, putting as much distance as he can between the two.
"For ch…", Kai stops himself from running after Jeremy instead just calling out to him, "I'm not going to hurt you, we just need to talk", he does walk a few steps forward now towards the retreating boy, "I can't do anything to you, you gotta know they probably watching this", would it have killed HYDRA to teach him how to be reassuring?
It isn't until he's several yards away that Jeremy stops running. He turns around and looks at Kai with an expression that's full of an angry fear. "What the hell do you want from me?! Just leave me the hell alone!" He yells at Kai, wishing right now he had something to defend himself with. He looks around the room again before yelling, "HELP!"
Kai sighs as Jeremy starts calling for help, it may have been better to have staff talk to him, he forms a baseball bat out of ice and tosses it to land at Jeremy's feet, "Look a weapon, you have one and i don't, now will you please calm down at let me talk, i swear i'm not here to harm you".
Jeremy ducks down and covers his head with his hands as the bat is flung at him, it's obvious as he's curled up on the ground he's shaking quite a bit. Terrified of the boy and what he knows about him. "Leave me alone, please." He begs as he doesn't move from the balled up position on the ground.
"I really have no idea how to deal with this", Kai walks over until he's a good ten feet away from Jeremy, "Ok i know this is hard for you and i am truely sorry but i have very few skills when it comes to this kind of human interaction so i'm just gonaa say what i gotta say, i'm no longer working with HYDRA and am now back at Barnes in training, it was discussed and desided that it would be better if i told you i was back, obviously that was incorrect, now i've said it and i'm going to back off another ten feet, your move".
The shaking form of Jeremy stays curled up towards the ground. It'd be so much easier if he could just disappear. Eventually though what Kai says sinks in and after a few deep breaths, he looks up at Kai with a face streaked with tears. "My…move?" He says quietly. "My Move?! What the hell am I supposed to say to you, you tried to kill me! You tried to stab me! I know what you are! And I'm just supposed to accept that you're going to be in my life, every day here? Screw that!" He says pushing himself to his feet and heading towards the door.
"Yes, yes i did and i'm not here to say sorry for that because i'm not looking for any kind of forgivness, i don't deserve it", Kai frowns as Jeremy walks away, "And i'm not going to be in your life, i'll just be at Barnes, i can make sure we never come near each other is thats what you want, just thought you should know i will be around".
Jeremy freezes a few feet from the door. Right now the only thing he wants to do is run away, the one thing he actually will admit he's good at. When he speaks, his back is still turned to Kai. "You are though. You're going to be here, I'm going to see you and…just…" He doesn't know what to say without feeling like he's letting his guard down. "You're worse then them."
Kai frowns again confused, "Worse than who?", at least Jeremy has stopped trying to run away, should make it easier to talk to him, if he's willing to talk that is.
Jeremy whips around and glares at Kai. "Does it even matter?" He mutters and the tone of voice doesn't really fit the anger in his face. "Why do you even care, why are you even back here?"
Kai nods, "Yes it does, i'm trying to change and be a better person. Being back here gives me a chance to do more than basicily being HYDRA's trained attack dog, tracking down and killing anything they point me at", he sighs, "Why do i care? i don't know that yet, just that i do".
Jeremy crosses his arms across his chest defensively and his body tenses. "God damnit I need a cigarette." He mutters as he's forcing himself to stay in the room. "Well do your caring somewhere else away from me, while you're here, I don't want anything to do with you. Everything you've done is up here." He says pointing at his temple. "Everything."
"You don't have to have anything to do with me, i'm not really even a student anyome, i'm doing another sort of training now, theres no reason we need to cross paths", he frowns, "Everything i've ever done? my whole life?, do SHIELD know that?"
"They know what my powers are here." Jeremy gets out through gritted teeth. "I see everything when I touch something. Do you even know what that's like? You didn't only try to kill me, you didn't only stab me but you're stuck in my head for the rest of my life!"
Kai hmms, "So, you have every single moment of my life in your head? ok so you know why my pain threshold is so high, how old i was when i first saw the sky and how old i was when i was first ordered to kill", he runs a hand though his hair, "So you probably know better than i do why i think the way i do".
"I don't want to know why you think the way you do!" Jeremy shouts at him. "I don't see what's inside your head, just your life. I know that you were raised to be a killer, I know how many people you've killed, I've seen every single life you taken. Do you think I want that in here? I don't!"
"Looks like we have something in common then, i don't want it in mine either but the only reason i gave it to you is so you could tell the school whats coming when i couldn't", Kai crosses his arms, "I know what i've done is horrible, i don't need to be told that"
"Well thank you, for giving me that, for trying to kill me and for using me." Jeremy says and with that he turns and runs out of the room, anxious to get away from the whole situation.
