Xavier Mansion - Japanese Gardens
A large area of the grounds is landscaped with a Japanese Garden. A river filled with coi fish runs through the middle with a wooden bridge. There is even a small waterfall splashing on the rocks. Bamboo can be heard clacking on the rocks. A small statue of a Buddha can be found in various places. The trees hang over the area and when the flowers are in bloom, it brings a variety of color to the peaceful landscape.
It's later in the afternoon and not having anything else to do, Daisuke has settled into an area of the Gardens to work on his art. He's sitting crosslegged on the ground as he moves his pencil lightly across the paper. Dai's dressed in a long sleeved shirt with a light jacket over it and a fedora style hat, dressed just enough to keep warm against the fall chill.
Annalisa slowly strolls into the area, glancing around with a smile. These gardens are a far better place to sit then that boring old rec room she'd been in so much lately. She was dressed in a smoothed denim skirt, a white tank with a light jacket around it, and a pair of worn sneakers.
Daisuke doesn't realize that someone else is in the area so he starts to sing to himself a bit while he draws. He doesn't have a great signing voice or sense of pitch but it's nothing that will cause dogs to howl. The only thing is that what he's singing is in another language, Japanese. As he sings quietly to himself, he looks up from his drawing for a second to ponder where he wants to go next in his art.
Annalisa perks an eyebrow at the Japanese singing, and almost lets out a small snicker, as she walks around the area slowly.
The snicker causes Daisuke to pause and have one of those 'frozen deer in headlights' moments. He blushes a bit, obviously embarassed that he was caught singing. He looks up and gets even more embarassed that it's someone he doesn't know. "I…uh…thought I was alone."
Annalisa lets out a slow wave, and almost laughs. "Nope! I'm here." She says with a couple of nods.
Daisuke is still a bit embarassed that Annalisa caught him singing to himself, especially since Dai's not a great singer. "Well…uh…hi, I'm Daisuke. Or just Dai." He says a bit shyly as he's always a bit timid around people he's never met.
Annalisa nods slowly in acknowledgement. "Annalisa, I'm pretty new around here." She says with a light smile, slowly walking back and forth around the area.
"I've been here for two years." Daisuke says, taking his hat off to run a hand through his hair. "I'm a tutor and teachers aid now that I graduated. So…welcome to Xavier's. What do you think so far?"
Annalisa shrugs her shoulders a bit. "I'm bored most of the time. Met a few people I kinda like, but its hard to find time with them. Everyone's such a ghost…And not just the ghost guy…."
"The ghost guy?" Daisuke asks sounding confused. "Well it's school season so people are caught up with studying and practice sessions. I miss having all the classes and homework and stuff actually. And it's just a matter of finding some friends and most people are really cool here."
"Ghost guy? There's a ghost in the school?" comes a voice that should be familar to Daisuke. Eddie Parker-Mayfair comes into the area in jeans and a Spider-Man t-shirt. "Dai!" he greets, moving to give his friend a hug in greeting. Turning back to Annalisa, the power booster waves. "Hi."
Annalisa arches an eyebrow and nods slowly. "He's…a professor…" She says, as if it was common knowledge, and turns to look at Daisuke. "I've got a few friends, and even someone I think I like, but nobody is ever around…"
Ghost guy, professor…"Oh, Mr. Weyrin? The Invisible teacher?" He asks since he knows that Rob has invisibility and is common seen as just walking clothing. As Eddie approaches, Daisuke breaks out into a big grin. "Hey Eddie!" He says leaning up from his sitting position to give his best friend a hug. "How's your brother doing?" He asks with a bit of a grin. "Eddie have you met Annalisa yet? She's new?"
Eddie chuckles quietly when asked about his brother. "Which one?" he asks, just teasing a bit. "Jared's okay. Just working on a paper," he says, smiling. "Mr. Weyrin's not a ghost, he's a mutant. I don't think Mr. Summers would want a ghost around the the school," he says. "Or Ghost for that matter but he really has no reason to be here," the powerbooster shrugs. "Nope. Hi, I'm Eddie," he greets, offering a hand to Annalisa.
Annalisa nods towards Eddie with a smile. "I'm Annalisa, And I was just commenting on how I can never get any time with my friends or anything."
"You know which one." Daisuke says reaching over to ruffle Eddie's hair like he's seen his Dads too many times to him. "I have to get some time with Jared, school works been rough on him." Not everyone can be the sterotypical Asian Honour Roll Student. "So who have you made friends with here so far Annalisa? And how long have you been here?"
Eddie squeaks when ruffled and grins. "I know. Been a lot of work this year and I've been getting in extra Danger Room time with whatever teachers that'll take me," he says. The teen then blinks at Annalisa. "Why're ya having so much trouble?"
Annalisa glances over at Daisuke, and begins to speak. "Uhm…I've been here about a week, I've met…Robin…and Robyn…And a few professors off duty..my roommate Coyote…And July's probably my…best friend…" She says with a somewhat odd smile on her face. "I haven't gotten to go into the Danger Room yet." She says to Eddie.
"I think I met Coyote breifly along with Robin…one of them. I don't really know July that well but I do know who she is." Daisuke says as he puts an arm around Eddie. "Eddie here is my best friend, along with Skyler. They're the closest thing I have to family." He says with a big smile on his face as he cares for Eddie a lot.
Eddie blushes a bit and slips an arm around Daisuke for a side-hug. "I know Robin and Robyn. Dunno who Coyote is but July's on my squad. We're part of the New Mutants!" definitely proud of that title. "Dai, you're definitely family."
Annalisa nods a bit, and then says. "Oh, I met Kael and Max too." She sighs a bit afterwards. "Me and July get along really well, but she doesn't have a lot of time for me since shes graduated and all that, so I don't get to see her often."
"What's she doing now that she graduated?" Daisuke asks curiously but then shakes his head. "Nevermind, that's her business, not mine. If I really want to know, I'll ask her." Daisuke isn't the prying type as he wouldn't like it if someone pried into his life he barely knew. "I'm really glad Mr. Parker-Mayfair found you brought you here Eddie."
"I heard her say something about college last time I talked to her outside a training session but," Eddie just shrugs. "Pretty glad about that myself, Dai," he says, giving his friend another hug.
Annalisa nods slowly, and lets out a shrug. "Yeah…I'm not really very high on the important list when theres college and life, shes only known me for a bit."
Daisuke shakes his head. "I wouldn't worry about it too much Annalisa, I didn't know anyone when I first came here and it took me a while to make friends. You just have to give things time, but then comforting and advice stuff isn't my strong point I'll let you know now. That's what Eddie's other Dad is for." Daisuke says looking to Eddie. "I have training tomorrow with the Hellions."
Eddie nods along to what Daisuke says. "Dai's right, just give it time. I mean, other than Dai I didn't make friends right away when I got here either," he pauses. "Well,I was also scared of my own shadow then but," a sheepish smile. "Yeah, my dad…Dr. Parker-Mayfair…that's his job. My other dad, Mr. Parker-Mayfair, teaches home ec," he nods sagely to this. "Awesome, Dai! Got any cool tricks in the works?"
Annalisa nods slowly and lets out a slight sigh. "I haven't even been assigned a squad yet…" She says, and then glances over at Eddie." Uhm…Isn't that the name of the psychologist guy I'm supposed to talk to?"
"It might be, I mean, I still have weekly sessions with him." Daisuke says not afraid to admit he needs psychological help, it's what he needs help for he's more timid to admit. "We both were afraid of our own shadow when we came here but I was better before you got here. Oh and new tricks? Not really, just getting better with flying is all."
Eddie nods. "Yep! Great big guy's my dad," he replies, grinning still. "Dai's real great," he confirms. "Flying's awesome. I'm working on my hand-to-hand and better control of powers I mimic."
Annalisa scratches her head a bit, and glances over at Eddie. "Mimic…?"
"Eddie's a power booster and he mimics people's powers. So he can 'borrow' in a sense, your power or my power while boosting your ability with it." Daisuke explains but then looks at Eddie. "Sorry Eddie, I should have let you explain your own power."
Eddie starts to say something but stops when Dai takes over. Smiling, he nods along. "That's right. I boost peoeple based on how much faith I have in them and can copy the person when I do," he echos. "Let's me experience a ton of new powers."
Annalisa stares blankly for a moment or two, and then begins to comment. "Sounds dangerous…." She says with a sigh, glancing off and around the area.
Daisuke shakes his head. "Nah, I've never known Eddie's power to be dangerous. He's got really good control over it. What's dangerous is my powers when I raise my voice too much." Daisuke says with a nod.
Eddie blushes. "Just when I don't warn people before I boost them," he admits sheepishly, remembering incidents with Lorna and Bobby. "Dai's got awesome control too so it's nothing to worry about," he says. "Say…what power do you have?" he asks Annalisa curiously.
Annalisa glances away towards the ground, and sighs again. "A really bad one…Wish I could trade…" She mutters, keeping her eyes away. She hadn't actually used her power by choice in a very long time.
Daisuke reaches out and puts a hand on Annalisa's shoulder. "Don't worry, most of us think we have horrible powers at first. I hated my sonics for a long time but then I grew to realize they're my powers and what I could do with them." He's heard a lot of people say they wish they could trade so he thinks she knows how she's feeling. But who knows if he really does or not. "Though I have to get going now, I should meet up with Jared for a bit. It was nice meeting you Annalisa." He turns to give Eddie a tight hug. "See ya later Bro." He says before heading off.
Eddie nods again. "Yeah. I wanted a different power at first too. I mean, how was I gonna be a superhero with just boosting?" he asks. "Don't worry, this place really helps," he says. Returning the hug, Eddie blinks. "Dai! Wait for me, I wanted to talk to Jared about something too," he starts to follow. "Bye Annalisa," he adds as he goes.
