NYC- Thompson Square Park

Thompson Square Park is a small park in the middle of Mutant Town. The benches might need a fresh coat of paint, the fence might be rusted in places and the pavement is raised and has cracks but it's all part of the mutant haven and fairly relaxing. Trees and grassy areas are in between the many paths, there are a few structures and benches along the path as well as a special area of the park that is marked 'the dog walk'.
//Two trees have been planted in the park as a Memorial to Carmencita Florez and Detective Baxter each with a plaque stating the tree is in their memory. //

Even though it's hot out Aiden has no desire to be indoors. Since it's dinner time he's decided to have his own kind of picnic in the park. Sitting on a purple blanket with black Celtic patterns on it he's got a bottle of water, a bag of chips and a large sandwich. He's dressed in a pair of shorts with several straps and buckles coming off of them, his usual combat boots and a sleeveless shirt. His wings are stretched out behind him as keeping them against his back gets quite hot. A CD player sits next to him playing some electronic style music softly.

Kalindi seems quite happy with the hot weather, a water bottle attached to her backpack, and she's actually wearing a pair of black shorts and a sky blue t-shirt with a stylized flower on it. There are a few bruises on her exposed skins, with a few minor cuts and injuries. Her hands, feet and waist are covered in a fine lining of gold, as she flies through the air, taking on a superman stance as she does so. She throws herself onto the ground, landing with a CLANK! not terribly far from where Aiden is. "Ah, hello again, I had seen you there. Your wings are very blue! And long today."

Fiona seems to have a penchant for showing up in parks - even though she's not a particularly nature prone person. By the tone of her skin it's pretty obvious that it's probably quite the obvious - either that, or people of Irish descent just don't tan very well. or both. The wings on Aiden definitely draw her attention - she believes she's seen this particular individual around before!

Hearing Kalindi's voice, Aiden looks up and smiles. "Hey Kelly, how's it going? I haven't seen you for a while." He says as he scoots over on the blanket. "I know there's been some craziness here in mutant tow…you okay?" He says noticing the various bruises on her.

"Ah, it is Kali, but you were very close. It is a stronger sound on the 'a'," corrects Kalindi, smiling. Her expression turns to confusion and then she looks down, "Oh, well, there was this girl who drove a car full of explosives into a wall at me yesterday, so I was, ehh, a little hurt from that? But it is mostly from my martial arts class, my teacher, he is very hands on."

Fiona glances from aiden and - well there's Kalindi! Out of the blue, so to speak. "Kali," she greets, nodding - she doesn't seem as… cheerful as normal. No, she looks rather tired, as if she didn't get a lot of sleep the night before, or something. There are also, of course, a couple small purple streaks in her hair that weren't there the night before. "Kinda messed up when you get more bruises from going to school than from some damn psycho-rat trying to blow you up." She glances to the winged man - eyes searching… maybe for a name. "Aiden, right? I think we met once before."

Aiden smiles sheepishly and rubs the back of his head, mussing up his hair a bit more than it was before. "Sorry, I'm never good with names and proof being right here." He says as Fiona comes over. "Hey, yeah I'm Aiden. I'm sorry, I'm horrible with names so forgive me if I can't remember yours." He says before frowning. "Rat-girl…yeah…she's been causing a bit of trouble. I broke my arm last time I ran into her." He says rubbing one of his green tattooed coloured arms.

"It is not school," says Kali to Fiona, "It is just a class that I take in order to improve my abilities. I like to stay in good physical condition, yes?" She tilts her head at Aiden and says, "But that rat-girl, I tried to stop her, but it did not quite work. She is not in her right mind right now, from what I gather, I hear that she is being, ehhh, manipulated. There are a few out there now who are." She looks at Aiden's arm and says, "How long ago was it broken?"

"Oh, whatever, anything where someone's teaching you someone is basically school. It's just a martial arts' school instead of a regular one… sorta…" Fiona trails off, nodding at Aiden, "Yeah, she would never do that normally. She's a pretty close friend of mine! I've just been… busy lately. Maybe if I hadn't been, this wouldn't have happened…" She bites her lip.

"A couple weeks back." Aiden says. "I have hallow bones so they brought in this doctor, a blue guy, who was able to help out and some how got it to heal a lot quicker." It confuses him a bit but he'll accept it. He then looks at Fiona. "Not really. I mean I would hardly say being taught to swallow swords was school. Anyway, so that's what's going on. She's gone crazy?" He looks at Fiona and shake his head. "What ever happened don't blame yourself."

"Oh, that is silly, Fiona, to think you can do something to protect her mind," says Kalindi, rolling her eyes and putting her hands on her hips. "Someone is using mindpowers on her. She is a copier, yes? And maybe that is why she used mind powers on us? But there is nothing you or I can do about mind powers! Dumb. So dumb to think those things, yes?" She shakes her head and then says to Aiden, "It is good that you were able to heal! There are people out there who are good at healing. I have been lucky to have them when I have been hurt!"

"So someone is mind controlling here? That…really sucks." Aiden says as he reaches for his bottle of water. "And I wouldn't say it's dumb to think those things. Just…sometimes some people put the blame on themselves easier than others. And as for mind powers..I don't think I have much defense over them. Just the emotion thing."

Kalindi nods at Aiden and says, "Yes, it is a very bad thing, and it is why I was trying to capture this rat girl. She is dangerous, but she is a harm to herself, too. She does not know what she is doing. And a friend of mine asked me to keep an eye."

"I only met her once. I didn't remember her name but it's not hard to forget her appearance. Not in a bad way or anything just there aren't a lot of us who can hide what we really are." Aiden says shrugging a shoulder as all the tattoos on him become a mix of yellow and blue. "Well if there is something I can do to help her out, lemme know. My emotion control didn't work to well on her and after a while she blasted me out of the sky."

"Ah, yes, she used illusions on my mind. Otherwise, hmm, I think that I would have been able to contest her more evenly. Since she is a copier, maybe that is not forever, and will change next time…" says Kalindi, furrowing her brow slightly. She watches the tattoos change colours and then looks back at Aiden's face, "Well, it is good at least that you are fine after meeting her. She is powerful."

"Well I'm horrible at physically fighting so I tried to talk her down, got me quite the whack out of the sky then I was waking up in the ER with a confused doctor staring at my X-Rays." Adien says with a grin. "I'm bad at fighting people, all my swords are for show for the most part."

"Ahh, I am quite good at fighting, but it is not my favorite things to do. It is risky to fight using strength, to discuss and negotiate is always the best first line of defence," says Kalindi, nodding at Aiden, adding, "But do not try to talk to her. She does not seem to listen quite normally."

"Yeah I noticed. Even when I tried to calm her down using my powers it didn't seem to do much." Aiden says. "But she tried to kill a bunch of innocent people with fire and then she almost burned down the restaurant I work at, combined with breaking my arm she almost put me out of two jobs." He says with a frown. "Which I know sounds stupid but that'd be pretty damaging to me as I'd have no place to live….again."

"Ahhh, yes, that would not be a good thing. It is a good thing that you still have your jobs and home though, yes?" says Kalindi, nodding at that, "It would seem to be a lot of pressure to make money in the meantime when you have just lost so much. And I do not think you have very much money to pay doctors!"

Aiden nods. "Yes, it's a good thing I didn't. Well Kali it was a pleasure, as always. I'm glad to see that those bruises are nothing serious. Hopefully we can get that rat-girl back to normal." He says standing up and starting to fold the blanket. "I gotta get going though. I have some friends I'm meeting up with and I have to head home and get ready and showered. I swear with the heat and how much I'm sweating half my make up must be melting down my face."

Kalindi nods at Aiden and smiles, "I like when it is hot out, it is much more like what I have grown up with! I think I have just become used to it, but I hope that you enjoy your friends and have a good evening. It was nice to see you, stay safe."
