Summary: Vance visits Bruce at Nowhere to collect details about the attack last night.

Log Title: Six Days

Rating: PG

NYC - Nowhere

Nowhere is a community bar, with a slightly old world feel. All of the tables and chairs are made of wood, though there are some couches in a slightly offset room with green fabric. The music varies, depending upon the Owner's music taste for the day. Beer and Liquor are both served, but are both carded for as well.

At the front of the bar, right as one walks in is a large sign. "Superhuman friendly establishment. There will be no tolerance for disparaging remarks based on one's genetic status. Any fights will not be tolerated within the bar. The management holds no responsibility for where combatants are teleported."

It is also quite impossible to use fake IDs here. There is a telepathic bouncer that works the door.

Scene

Nowhere is severely less crowded than usual tonight. It would appear that most of the patrons know that their bartender is Dingo. Those patrons probably saw what he did on the news and decided to stay home tonight. It's not necessarily that the patrons don't approve of Dingo protecting the mutants of Mutant Town, but many of them suspect negative repurcussions after he attacked the police so openly.

Bruce stands at the counter drying out a glass as he chats with one of the patrons. He is wearing jeans and a brown t-shirt, acting as though tonight is just another ordinary night at work. The man laughs as the patron says something amusing and then excuses himself to collect up some bottles from the tables in the seating area.

Making his way into the bar, Vance Astrovik, dressed casually in blue jeans and a green t-shirt with a black hoodie, for the unseasonably warm winter weather in New York City. Vance approaches the bar and instantly makes his way to a stool and takes a seat and eyes the bartender. While not the best move for the Avenger to come without his teammates, Vance has learned sometimes a different approach works. He quirks an eyebrow and looks around the room and then back to the barkeep "Bruce."

Bruce makes his way back to the bar and fills a couple of orders for the handful of patrons still here this evening. He turns away from the door and begins cutting lemons on a small counter against the back wall. He hears someone come in but does not turn around just yet, allowing the customer to find a seet before greeting them. He hears his name and turns, giving a half-hearted smile to Vance. "Ah Justice. How nice of you to visit." Bruce makes a gesture to the patrons at the bar and they stand up and move to a table a little ways off. "Somehow I doubt you came here to tell me Iron Man and Rashmi were able to catch those cops."

"Well, I am here as Vance tonight. Not wearing the costume now." Vance leans against the bar eyeing the various bottles of alcohol. "Can I get a water, Dingo? If you're not too tired from your rampage last night, that is." Vance watches all the patrons in the bar, carefully assessing where everyone is seated and who looks more suspicious among them.

Bruce places his hands on the counter and looks at the man suspiciously. He drums his fingers a few times when the man asks for water and turns to get him a glass of ice water. The people in the bar are few this evening. None of them look terribly suspicious, though one of the girls has a bad knack for shoplifting. Bruce turns back and gives the water to Vance. "That? Not terribly tiring. When I'm sand I don't fatigue the same way someone else would. No muscles. No lungs. No heart."

"That's good to know, so lethal force against a non-living entity can be used." Vance looks at the water and places it down. "So what happened? I'm presuming you're not stupid enough to go on a rampage for no reason." He exhales, "Mutant to mutant. Why did you do it?" He eyes the bartender for a moment waiting for a response as he holds the glass.

Bruce frowns at the Avenger. "Yes I'm sure you already knew that. There was footage of rockets exploding me all over the news for weeks after our little war down here." He pours himself a glass of water and takes a drink. "And I'm sure Iron Man told you how well blowing off my head last night didn't work." He offers a sarcastic smile and swirls the glass in his hand. "I was on rounds last night. Do them most nights, just trying to keep things safe. I saw a gang of kids attacking a mutant. She fought back, shot them with an energy beam. Then I heard the shots. It was the police. They decided to kill her instead of the people who started it." He takes another drink and looks a bit sad. "Carmencita. She was a regular here."

Sighing Vance frowns as he takes a sip of the water. "Did you inform the proper authorities of what happened instead of going on a rampage?" He shakes his head as he thinks of the senseless death of another mutant. "Have you ever tried working with the system instead of against it?" He finishes the water, "A senseless battle could have been prevented and those hooligans could have been detained instead of fighting with Iron Man. Maybe if you had told him what happened that would have been better."

Bruce shakes his head. "Iron Man wasn't there then. I chased the police from Mutant Town up past Times Square. That's when Iron Man intervened. And that's beside the point. The point here is that a mutant was in danger and instead of helping her the police shot and killed her. Why would they do that? The don't shoot a human who comes into their precinct to report a rape. They don't shoot a human shopkeep being mugged. But they'll shoot a mutant girl for defending herself." He does not look happy. "Report them to the authorities? They ARE the authority." Bruce takes another drink of his water. "I wouldn't have killed them. I wanted them so I could take them to Magneto."

"Well Magneto might not be the best one to take them too. Not all cops are bad. We don't know what exactly happened and neither do you." Vance exhales, "I'm sorry about Carmencita. I'll follow-up myself on the matter. An Avenger. A mutant Avenger may be able to get some more information and not be fueled by emotion. Let the Avengers look into this, Dingo." He passes the glass of water that he had been drinking from back to Bruce.

"Oh no, I know what happened. I saw the whole thing with my own eyes." He takes the glass and places it in the sink. "And they killed a mutant. They should be tried under mutant law. Magneto is best to judge what should happen to them. This is his town." He takes another drink of his water and places his glass in the sink as well. "I promised Iron Man and that girl with the weird name…Ratschnee or something…Anyway, I told them I'd give them a chance to find the officers that shot the girl. They have six more days."

"As far as I know there is no such thing as mutant law. Magneto is not the ruler here. There are proper channels and certain ways things are done." Vance stands up, "And what happens after six days?"

Bruce turns and begins washing the glasses. "Yeah well…Tell that to the people in Mutant Town." He turns toward Vance. "Six days? I don't know. I can't see the future." He shrugs, "If those police aren't in your custody by then though, well I'll have to send out some help for you."

"Well any legal help would be great." Vance offers, "So I can expect Six days of peace and non-violence?" He smirks, "Who would have thought Dingo going the Ghandi route instead of Magneto's dog." He exhales, "And maybe follow-up on some of Professor X's approach. He seems to have done more for mutants than Magneto. Even Magneto thought so once." He makes his way to the door.

Bruce sits the glasses on the counter to dry and turns back to the Avenger. "You can expect six days of me not going after those specific cops. If anything else happens down here I'll act as I see fit." He chuckles. "I'm a soldier. I'm trained to be a dog. And I'd rather be the dog of someone who will take action that that of a man who will sit back and see his people slaughtered and caged like animals." The patrons make their way back up to the bar as Vance heads toward the door.

"Well, I guess I will see you in six days." Vance turns, "If you do anything that causes trouble, then you can expect a less cordial visit next time." He nods his head and puts up his hood as he makes his way out.
