Xavier Mansion - Recreation Room
What was once the Parlor has been turned into a Recreation Room for the students. A nice plush carpet meets the light blue walls giving it a homey feel. A pool table at one end, a foos ball table at the other, and entertainment center with video game systems, movies, and of course, cable TV. Big comfy chairs and couches surround a coffee table for comfortable loafing. Long glass windows with a pair of French doors line one side of the room bringing in plenty of light during the day. The main rule in here is to clean up after yourself.
It's a Sweeny Todd night for Robyn and he's sitting on the couch clutching a vampire teddy bear plush he has from Nightmare Before Christmas. He's curled up on the couch with a stack of books on the table in front of him that are for his homework but are happily being ignored. A large bowl of popcorn sits on his lap as he munches away, eyes glued the television as a challenge between two men of who can shave a man better is going on.
It's probably not the most interesting of places to walk in on when it comes to Sweeney Todd. However, that where Kieran walks in on the movie. The blonde teen having hands thrust into his pockets, almost like he's having a bit of a think. Not totally paying attention to what's going on around him right now, and absently hums slightly along to the song.
Upon hearing another voice Robyn turns around and grins seeing it's Kieran. "Hey Kieran, if you don't like the movie I don't mind changing it. It's a DVD so I can always watch it later." He says as he takes a few bites of popcorn. "How you doing tonight?"
It takes a moment before Kieran says,"Hey Robyn, and it's all good. I've not seen this before so it's not that bad of a thing." He says smiling weakly towards Robyn as he just sort of tries to relax. "It's a good evening I guess."
"If you haven't seen this before I can start it again for you. I don't mind." Robyn says. "It's Sweeny Todd the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. It's like a kind of horror musical. The singing isn't the greatest but it's Tim Burton's usual cast and it's creepy and awesome."
"If you want to, that's fine." Kieran says shrugging a little bit,"But yeah, I've never seen this before. How are you this evening Robyn?" He asks curiously as he sits there.
"I'm doing pretty good. I didn't feel like doing homework yet so I decided to watch a movie. I tend to watch a movie over and over even though I've seen it a few dozen times." Robyn says as he brings the movie back to the main page. "What kind of movies do you usually like Kieran?"
"Well I watched the Monty Python movies, and I did like the Pirates movies, well the first one at least. The other two were ok." Kieran says shrugging a little bit,"We watched what my parents felt was appropriate for all of us as a rule." He says shrugging a little bit. "That's pretty much how things worked in my family."
"I like the Monty Python stuff I've seen through my Dad like the Holy Grail and Now For Something Completely Different. We never got to see Spamalot on Broadway though, my parents never had the money." Robyn says shrugging as he eats a bit more of his popcorn. The DVD menu of Sweeny Todd seems to just be looping for now as Robyn hasn't hit play again. "I'm an only child…kinda…long lost twin brother kinda but pretty much I'm an only child so My Mom and Dad kinda let me pick things to watch."
"I have two younger brothers." Kieran says seriously,"Well not a small family since I also have an elder sibling." He says considering this,"But since my youngest brother's a fair bit younger it's a big limiter on the types of movies I could see. Plus my parents are fairly conservative." He adds shrugging his shoulders slightly.
It's not the doors that swing open by themselves that announces Tara's presence to the room, but rather the loud, tuneless humming as she approaches. In one hand is a giant jug of soda. In the other is a plastic shopping bag with some Japanese characters written on it, and floating over her head is a giant bowl of hot buttered popcorn. Her humming falters when she hears the menu music of the Sweeny Todd DVD and the conversation the two people are having. When she gets closer she's able to pick out Robyn's voice. "Hey Robyn."
"My parents are far from conservative." Robyn says chuckling. "I'm not only their only child but I'm also adopted which I think is why they give me as much freedom with somethings as they do. But just because I'm adopted doesn't mean they aren't my real parents." Robyn throws in quickly as he cares about his Mom and Dad very much. "Hey Tara, how's it going? I was just about to restart Sweeny Todd so Kieran can watch it too."
"Well since you refer to them as your parents and not adopted parents, I kind of got the indication." Kieran says smiling at Robyn,"I come from a conservative family in a conservative city." He says laughing softly,"Hello." He says glancing towards Tara, but he doesn't really know her and she does seem to know Robyn here.
"Hey there… Kieran, was it?" asks the girl, walking over to where the couch is. "I'm Tara." She lets go of her drink and instead of it dropping to the floor it just floats right where it was as she extends her hand in the boy's general direction. "Pleased to meecha."
"I'm from a conservative city too, Brooklyn." Robyn says obviously joking about that. "I mean we have this extremely conservative parade in Coney Island every year called the Mermaid Parade. It's..well…it's a lot of exposed body parts, real and fake." He's gone to the Mermaid Parade fairly regularly since he was a kid. "Show off." He teases Tara
"Ummm… I'm not sure that'd be a good idea right now. I feel kind of supercharged at the moment." Kieran says looking at Tara seriously,"When that happens I tend to spark a bit more than normal." He says a bit weakly as he taps to fingers together making a bit of a sound from the electricity. "Yeeeah. I don't think Cincinnati has much of anything /remotely/ like that. We're probably from pretty opposing backgrounds in that regards."
Lightning Lad!" exclaims Tara, picking her soda out from the air. "Gotcha." At Robyn's taunt of 'showoff' she sticks her tongue out at him, before moving over to the couch herself, and settling the big bowl of popcorn down on it. "Well, I was kind of hoping nobody was going to be here, so I could watch some new anime I just picked up. But you guys got here first."
"That's one thing I never really got into, anime. I know Connor says some of it is cool but I never watched much." Robyn says before nodding to Kieran with a grin. "Yeah, I didn't have much of a conservative upbringing at all but then both my parents are artists." His family is a bit on the eccentric side.
"I have tried a couple series since I got here." Kieran says smiling a little bit before looking at Tara,"I am not just electricity but that's pretty easy to understand." He says shrugging a little bit,"Electromagnetism is more precise, with a greater generation of electricity than the magnetism."
As Robyn hits play on the DVD player to start up the movie his phone starts to ring. "Sorry guys, but speaking of parents my Mom is calling me. I'll be back later." He says as he heads out of the room leaving his books and his popcorn behind to take the call.
