Xavier Mansion - Spuyten Duyvil Cove
This little cove leads off to Breakstone Lake. Students can go fishing, boating, and swimming in the fresh water. There is a small beach off to the side of the dock where students can also go sunbathing.
It's a warm afternoon, a warm breeze accompanying the sun that's beating down upon the little cove. Though the breeze doesn't seem to be following the natural rhythm of things as it's centered around a teen sitting on the beach. Kael's looking out at the water, seemingly lost in thought as he just sits there.
Theo, the newest of the Corsairs, comes strolling down the path from the cove. He reaches in his pocket, pulling out his personal iPhone first. He hits the power button and the powering down chime rings. He puts it back in his pocket. He pulls out the school issued phone afterward, and does the same, putting it in the opposite pocket of his pants. He lets out a sigh, the breeze blowing his messy hair.
The sigh from the newest member of the Corsairs makes Kael blink a bit, figuring that no one else would be coming to the lake. On a warm day like today? Touch luck on that one. The currently white haired teen looks over and he says, "Hey. You're… Theo, right?" A tilt of his head as he leans back against the sand. The aerokinetic dressed for the weather. Shorts, T-shirt with a light jacket, and sandles.
Theo's gaze had shifted over the water, but it moves quickly back to Kael as he speaks. "Yeah," he says. His own hands are in the pockets of his green hoody, the only shirt he had when he came to the mansion, and by far his favorite still. "You're…" he pauses, "Carl?" he asks. He's met a lot of people lately, and all the names are starting to run together. "You're in my training group, right?" He got that part at least.
Kael laughs a bit. "I'm Kael. Close though." The aerokinetic nods a bit as he says, "Yeah, I'm in the Corsairs as well. What do ya think about the /lovely/ colors the headmaster chose for ya, eh?" Referring to the canary yellow and white. "I can barely go outside in this light and not blind myself."
Theo gives a sly grin. "Not my first choice," he admits. "I think I know how I'm going to customize my costume. I hear there's a machine in the basement we can use to change the look," he says. The smile is rather mischevious.
Kael glances over at Kael with a laugh. "Save that for when we graduate. For now, we're on the teams for a reason. Training and otherwise." Yeah, Kael's already thought of the changing the color. He stands up, starting to brush the sand off of his arms before a gust of wind just comes from behind him. Blasting the sand off towards the lake. "I think I might go for blues when I graduate. Cause of the sky, ya know?"
Theo's eyes look up at the sky briefly, and then winces as he expects the wind to blow sand toward him, but it doesn't. "I guess that'd fit," he says. "I wasn't thinkin' of changing the color though, I know they won't let us do that. But Kenta said that we can change the shape and fit of the costumes."
Kael quirks a brow for a moment. "Oh, that machine. Heh. Sorry bout that. I already got in touch with that machine, now I don't feel like a gymnast in mine." AT the wince, Kael lets out a light laugh. "Don't worry. If you're around me, the wind won' do anythin' to harm ya."
Theo nods slightly, "Yeah, sorry, just a reaction, not used to the wind being controlled by someone," he says. "I think I'm gonna change my costume to look like the San Diego Chicken. Think the Headmaster will like it?" he says with an ear to ear grin.
Kael blinks and laughs. "Oh, I think that /just/ might get him to crack a smile." He chuckles a bit more before he says, "Well… before he gives ya detention." It's Scott. "And, you get used to those kind of things around here. I know people who can control every element. Kinda fun."
Theo laughs. "I think it'd be worth it," he says. "I bet controlling wind is a blast, wish I had some cool moves like that." It's no secret that Theo isn't keen on his powers. Every time he goes in the Danger Room it gives him a headache from all of the electronic activity going on. He hears it all at once, and that's about all he knows he can do.
Kael shrugs a bit with a smile. "It has its moments." He hms a bit before he looks over at the lake for a second. "I bet your powers will develop into something cool." He grins a bit before he looks back at Theo. "When I first came here. All I could do was muster up a breeze. Nothing more."
"I sure hope so. The power of getting headaches isn't all that exciting," the other teen answers. "I come out here just so that I can get AWAY from all the security cameras and cell phones and computers. I never noticed there was so much technology around us everywhere we go before I got my powers." He walks down to the dock so that he's not talking at such a distance. "It's nice and quiet out here, much less noise."
Kael chuckles. "I come out here before it's a place where I can be surrounded by what makes me happy." One guess as to what that is. "Inside, the air feels stagnant and old. Out here. It's fresh and more lively." Nevermind the fact that he can fly out here and not inside.
Theo nods. "I hear that. I bet you hate going into the city," he says. "New York constantly smells like exhaust." He kicks his shoes off there on the dock, and takes his socks off by alternately stepping on the toes and pulling, and he then wiggles his toes a bit in the fresh air.
Kael shrugs a bit with a grin. "It doesn't smell so bad out there." He mainly heads to a penthouse on a tower for power training. "But, yeah on the street level… It does reek of that." He looks over at Theo and grins a bit. "I know you'll get the hang of your powers. Just have to find the right teacher for it."
Theo smiles, a real smile, not the fake smiles he can usually be seen giving. "Thanks," he says. He squats down until he's sitting on the edge of the dock, and starts to put his feet into the water. "Ah! Whoo! That's cold!" he doesn't pull them out, though, rather he lets himself adjust.
Kael moves to stand on the edge of the dock. "Don't mention it. I had a fair bit if trouble before I found someone to help." He looks back at Theo before he takes a step off of the dock, floating in the air before he says, "Then, it was a steady progression." He smiles, not really meaning to show off if that's what Theo got from it before he steps back onto the dock. "And yeah. The lake's cold. Probably a bit colder if Max has been out here."
"I hear there's a guy with the X-men named Forge," Theo acknowledges, still swishing his feet. maybe I can get his help. He invents all kinds of stuff. He could probably even make me into a superhero if he could get me some cool hi-tech Iron Man stuff." He watches Kael float out over the water. "Man, that's really cool, can you fly other people or just you?"
Kael nods a bit. "Forge might be able to help ya. And I think it'd be rather cool to see ya in an Iron Man-esque suit." He rubs the back of his head at the question and hms. "I… don't know. I've never tried to before. I'm still getting the hang of flying."
"Yeah, I could roll with a yellow suit of armor," Theo laughs, pulling his feet out of the water and standing on the dock. "Here, see if you can pick me up!" He stands still, hoping that Kael will try.
Kael hms a bit, looking a bit apprehensive before he shrugs. What's the worst that can happen. He walks over, grabbing onto Theo's hands before a swirl of wind forms. Lifting Kael up into the air before he's dangling Theo by his hands. He only stays up there for a several seconds before he lands back down; letting go. "Gimme a few more months?" He says with a laugh.
Theo takes Kael's hands, and he eagerly waits as the wind rushes around his face, looking down to see his toes come off the ground. "Woo! You're doing it!" he exclaims, just before he goes back down. "Are you kidding? That was great! I just flew!" It took so little to make him happy. "I've never even been on a plane before!"
Kael rubs at one of his arms with a laugh. "If ya say so." He looks back out at the school for a second before he pulls his cell out; just checking the time. "Hmn, Almost time for my next class." Thankfully he had a break between them. "Planes are fun. But, it's much more exhilarating flying on your own. Keep that in mind when you're getting your Iron Man suit."
Theo grins. "I will. I'm gonna stay out here for a bit and just chill. Have fun in class, and thanks, been the hi-light of my day."
