Xavier Mansion - Quad
There is a square side walk of pavement with a nice grassy area in the middle with a few stone benches and trees along the corners. The pavement leads to the paths to the grounds of the school, the Dining Hall in Xavier's and the Ramsey Dormitories. It's not particularly large but it's a nice place for students and teachers to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Theo's choice lunch is a couple of monstrously sized pieces of pizza. He's just exited the dining hall, and plops down on one of the benches. "Hey Robyn," he says, shoving the pizza in his mouth. After he swallows, he speaks to Robyn. "Looks like I won't be joining you in Driver's Ed, I'm sure you're really broken up about that. I'm gonna be taking the Blackbird training instead." Yes, he's bragging. It's a senior only class and he's taking it as a sophmore. He takes another bite of the pizza, arches his brow, eyes moving over to the new girl singing off key. The slice still up to his face, he looks back at Robyn, and gives an amused grin, biting off the piece of pizza and chewing on it.
"That's too bad Theo, well if you need a ride after I get my license, let me know." Robyn's not really joking about it either as he's really trying to start over anew with Theo and regard him as a teammate now. He turns off his mp3 player and looks at the new girl. "Wow, those are some pretty awesome dreads." He comments but the 'meat is murder' pin…no comment on that. "So are you ready for the joy that's going to be training on Sunday's Theo?"
Rebecca shakes her head as she tugs at the cord on her earbuds, letting them drop out to dangle from her hand. "Thanks," she replies, "I did 'em myself." The cheese and ham showing at the edges of Robyn's sandwich doesn't get a comment either. How magnanimous. She sort of lingers, as the two boys who obviously know each other talk. The corners of her mouth move a little as she nibbles at the inner end of one of her lip studs, while cheerfully listening in.
"Yeah," Theo answers. Yes. It's pepperoni pizza. It's meat. "Oh, did anyone tell you that we're having a team meeting tonight? Down by the lake. We're going to make sure we have a leg up on our psycho teacher so she doesn't kill any of us. If you are good, maybe I'll let you drive my ferrari." While Robyn doesn't comment on the pin, Theo does. "How is meat murder?" he asks the new girl. Nothing like keeping a conversation non-controversial.
Robyn extends a hand to Rebecca. "I'm Robyn Larkin, nice to mee you." He says to hear and then nods to Theo. "Yeah, I heard about it, I'll be there. And honestly, I don't really care what kind of car I drive. I'm not like Mike or James when it comes to cars." He says as Robyn's an art buff, not a car buff. Then the question from Theo causes Robyn to wince. "Can't you be nice for like five minutes Theo?"
Rebecca reaches to meet Robyn's offered hand. "Becca Dalton," she chimes with a metal-framed smile. "New girl and all of that, obviously." Theo's question doesn't get any anger out of her, instead, he earns a completely baffled look from the blonde. "I know the vegan thing isn't for everyone, but I didn't think that part was up for debate. Stuff has to die for you to eat it. You know… meat is the flesh of animals? Dead animals."
"What'd I say?" Theo asks. He didn't see the comment as offensive. "I just asked a question." He shrugs at her explanation. "Oh, I guess." He doesn't seem very bothered by the idea. "We all gotta go sometime. But if it bothers you, I guess I can see why you wouldn't eat meat." Doesn't seem to bother him much.
Robyn looks at Rebecca and smiles. "Don't worry, that's just Theo's way of making friends. Finding out something about them that he doesn't agree with and then makes fun of it." He then looks at Theo and smiles. "So, Rebecca, anyway, when you start here? And I guess just in time for the new year." He says trying to change the subject a little bit.
Rebecca scruffs a hand back through her hair with a momentary scrunch of her nose. She's working very hard at not launching into some self-righteous, indignant thing about meat. Robyn's rescue with the change of subject is appreciated enough that she flashes him a grateful little smile before answering. "I'm only just starting this week. There was this whole… thing at my old school with a desk and my math teacher's nose and… stuff. I was on the news." She shifts from sounding regretful to almost proud on that last sentence. Her blue eyes take a couple of sidelong little glances at Theo, trying to measure out the likelihood that a debate is going to break out anyway.
"I wasn't making fun of it," Theo says with a scowl. "I just said that if she felt that way I could understand her not wanting to eat meat. I can respect that. I never really thought about it before." He finishes his first piece of pizza, and starts on the second. Sausage. "Anyway. When I get off of being grounded, I'll let you both have a turn in my ferrari, as long as you stop being mean to me," he says, shifting his gaze to Robyn with one eyebrow cocked.
Robyn nods to Rebecca. "It's pretty cool here and I don't know if that was good or bad that you were on the news. So I'm probably gonna ask you the question you've heard a million times already, what squad are you on?" He's just wondering even though he knows his is pretty full at the moment and probably not getting any new faces. "So how long you grounded for Theo? And don't worry, I'm not really in any hurry to go riding in your ferrari."
The answer comes pretty quickly, "The purple one!" It takes half a moment for Becca to give a more sensible answer. "Uh. Paragons?" She shrugs her shoulders and decides that tucking a few of the clumps of her hair behind one of her ears is a good idea. Such enthusiasm for the pretty uniform is not nearly the imagine she wants to be projecting. She smiles at Theo and says, "I'm not mad at you or something. I just really don't like the idea of anything having to suffer so that I can eat food that isn't even really good for you to begin with." With a little roll forward onto the balls of her feet, her smile turns a little teasing, "So I'll just be ten times healthier than you guys, and my karma will be spotless." Then, the wind comes out of her sails a little and she glances to Robyn. "Does he really have a Ferrari?"
"Fish is good for you. What if you eat a fish, but it doesn't suffer first? Like, if it dies of natural causes or something? And yes, I have a Ferrari. It's really little. Like a smart car ferrari. Really good for the environment. It doesn't use any gas at all. But right now it's in Tony Stark's garage, or I'd show it to you." He bites into his pizza. "Crap, how do you spell Antinomian? Is it with an E or an I?" It seems a random question.
Robyn shrugs to Becca. "Honestly, I dunno, He says he has one. He's also a technopath so he's got this whole link with technolgoy." Giving away the dirt on Theo's powers. "Hey, that's your choice Becca, I'm cool with that." He respects people for what they believe and who they are unless they're an outright jerk and even then he's eventually become friends with them. "Tony Stark, as in the Tony Stark? Didn't Rashmi say she met him?"
Rebecca tilts her nose upward just slightly, in what might be playful snottines at Theo. "Fish is way full of heavy metals, mercury and stuff like that. Why would you want to eat something that they don't even let pregnant women eat because it'll mess up their babies?" She too is derailed by Theo's claims about this mythical Ferrari and it's improbable location. "Like, the richest rich guy that was ever rich Tony Stark?"
Theo arches his brow. "Are they really?" he asks. "Huh, I always heard fish oil was really healthy, one of those miracle foods like garlic. I never bothered to research it all that much." He finishes the second piece of pizza. "You know, Robyn, I don't go telling everybody your powers," he says with a slight annoyance at his powers being talked about. He looks away for a moment. "Y'all are gonna make me look it up," he says, pulling out his phone. After a moment, the word pops up. "I." He takes his time answering the question about Tony Stark. "Yeah, that's how I got a ferrari. I started working for him when I turned sixteen. I figured you knew that, Robyn." Not that Theo ever told him, he just figured word had gotten around. "I work at the Star Industries Flushing Plant. He gave me the Ferrari as my first project when I joined. I'm supposed to work out the kinks in it to make it more effective." He doesn't say it in a proud way, necessarily. But hey, he's working for Tony Stark, what more emphasis
"I really don't spy on your life Theo." Robyn says as he didn't know that cause he doesn't really care to find out too much about Theo. Just more cares to make sure the two are civil. "Anyway, Rebecca, you said Paragons? There's some cool people on the team, Jinx and James and Marshall and Tara. Tara's a bit…overwhelming at times. I think she feels she has to live larger since she's blind or something?" He's not really sure. He then looks at Theo and smiles. "Well you can tell her and everyone what my powers are. Go ahead, tell her how I'm a vampire."
Rebecca looks mildly baffled as she looks at Theo. "You make toilets?" A hand comes up to rub at the side of her head. Perhaps information overload. She shakes it off, however, and nods her head slolwly along with Robyn's opinions of her squad-mates. "Well, uh, cool people are good. I definitely like cool people." If she had something more meaninful to say, it ends up lost in that last trailed off, half-mumbled statement. Instead, she's busy tilting her head to one side in an entirely unsubtle attempt at getting a look at Robyn's teeth. "Like, seriously? It's sunny and stuff, and you're not on fire. Or glittering." The last line is added with less enthusiasm.
Theo laughs. "That's what I thought at first, too. It's where cool ideas become actual devices. You make them, try them out, and try to figure out whether people will actually buy them. It's like getting paid to play with toys. Best job ever." He rolls his eyes at Robyen. "I don't even know your powers," he tells Robyn. "I don't ask about other people's powers, it's a private thing, you know? If somebody wants to tell them, that's their business." He stands back up, adjusting his backpack. "I gotta get to class. Rebecca, it was good to meet you. Oh, and I'm Theo Fegenbush, didn't tell you my name earlier."
Robyn looks at Theo and nods. "Well, if we're gonna be on a team together, it'd probably be good thing to know your teammates powers." He says before explaining his. "No, not like that. It's just I'm a psychic vampire, I need to feed off of others mental energy in order to get by. It's just…part of my powers. I can also possess people and astrally project myself and make psychic weapons." he says it more for Theo to hear as well. He then gives a not to Theo. "See ya tonight Theo."
With a little raise of her palm, Becca chirps out, "Bye Theo. Nice to meet you." It's kind of hard to be exchanging pleasantries when there is something so interesting lingering in the air, though. "So you… eat people's brains kind of? Isn't that more zombie territory than vampire?" Her brows are furrowed as she tries to wrap her head around the explaination of Robyn's powers. She isn't so steeped in mutant culture as long term students of the school, so this is fairly mindblowing.
Theo catches what Robyn's description of his powers is, but he doesn't comment. "Yeah, see you tonight." He puts his phone back in his pocket, and picks up the empty paper plate that the pizza had been resting on. He gives a mock salute, and walks casually off to class.
Robyn laughs and shakes his head. "No no. Nothing like that. There's no actual eating of anything. It's more an absorbtion of energies. Psychic energies. I work with some of the telepaths here so I'm not randomly draining my class mates. And I can't kill anyone with it or anything. Just kinda…well, I can't produce enough of my on mental energy to support my powers so I need to drain others. It's weird but I'm really working on getting it under control."
Rebecca's eyes seem to light up a bit at one of the things Robyn says in his explaination. "I absorb energies too. Not the same kind, but that's totally what I do." A far more genuine smile than she was showing during discussion of her dietary philosophy shows up at seemingly having found some common ground with one of the other students. "I suck up the energy of getting hit and keep it in me until I want to let it out." She's more animated now too, gesturing with both hands. First, she pantomimes hitting herself upside the head, and then she makes an outward 'bwooosh!' sort of gesture with both hands.
"See that's really cool, I don't really do anything with the energies I absorb except…live." Robyn says with a chuckle as he guesses that's pretty important. "But that's pretty cool, I don't think I've really met anyone with a power like that. Then again I mostly know the other students here." But Robyn's also been here a while. "And don't take anything Theo ever says too seriously. He's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder and tries to get at people."
With a mock mournful look, Becca's tone becomes tremendously pious, "I can't help that poor Theo wants destroy thousands of lives in order to make his own unhealthy." She shakes her head, with a soft chorus of clacking from the beads in her hair. "I might look like a delicate little hippy flower, but I'm a lot tougher than he is, probably." There is a sudden flash of a grin and she adds, "I beat up /two/ aliens all by myself yesterday." The blonde's hands go to her hips as she takes on a rather Superman styled pose.
"Hey, if that's your thing, that's your thing. I don't have the willpower to become a vegitarian or vegan. I like Jinx's brownies too much." Among other things. Then Robyn raises his eyebrows in question. "Beat up two aliens? Like for real or in the Danger Room. And even if it was the Danger Room, that's pretty cool. I think I just stood there terrified and didn't really know what to do, but then, I barely knew my powers then either. So how do you like it here so far, even if you haven't been here that long yet?"
Rebecca relents a little, ratcheting her bravado down a bit. "Well, it was in the Danger Room. And I kind of hid behind that really big Hosea guy a little. And I kind of only kicked one in the crotch. But the other tried to punch me and I totally whacked him with my powers and it was awesome." Her mouth moves as she nibbles at a lip ring again. "It was still cool," she affirms to herself one more time. "I was raised vegan, so it isn't like willpower so much as how I've always been. My mom's way, way into that kind of stuff." She shifts from one foot to the other as she talks, "I like it so far. Nothing bad has happened yet, and some people are pretty cool." The way she smiles is meant to indicate Robyn's inclusion in that group. "So are you like, way better with your powers now?"
"Ah okay Hoesa." Robyn says not really saying much about him. He doesn't really know him that well just that he had to stop a fight between him and a friend of his. "It was cool." Robyn agrees since even though it's a simulation, it sure as hell feels real. "I can understand that, getting into things cause your parents are. I got into art through my Mom, even though she paints and I sculpt. She taught me about it. And my Dad's the musican and so..yeah. And yes..I'm a lot better with my powers now. A lot. It's a lot of practice but it helps. And as for people there are some really cool people here. I've made some amazing friends."
Becca bounces up onto the balls of her feet and calls out, "Dude! My mom is an artist too. She paints, and sculpts, and like, everything." Her posture goes back to normal when she admits, "I'm not the best artist ever. But I appreciate it! Could I see some of your work sometime?" The dreadlocked blonde seems quite genuinely interested.
Robyn smiles at her enthusaism and nods. "Sure, I have a bunch of stuff in the art room cause I'm going to be working on a portfolio for art school. I don't draw and paint as much as my Mom does but then my Mom's a children's book illustrator." He blushes a bit at the prospect of her looking at his art but then a lot of students here have seen it. "I mean, just a warning, a lot of my work is kinda dark. I take a lot of inspiration from Tim Burton and Edward Gorey and stuff."
Rebecca is surprisingly okay with that. "Well, not to be judgemental or something, but you kind of look like the kind of guy who would be into like… Beksinski." She smiles cheerful as she continues on, "I'd really like to see it. I promise I won't faint if it's too dark. I might hiss and cross my fingers at first though. You'll be okay with that, right?"
"If you hiss and cross your fingers it means I got the right emotion accross." Robyn jokes before commenting on Beksinski. "HOnestly, I dont' really know who Beksinski is but I'll be sure to look him up. I guess that's what the school internet is really for." Using it for personal interests as opposed to school interests. "And speaking of art, I should get going, I have art class in five minutes. It was really awesome meeting you Becca."
Becca's lashes flutter when Robyn mentions class. "Oh. Oh!" She pats at her skirt a few times, in search of pockets. "Schedule, schedule," she mumbles to herself. "Yeah! I'll see you around, Robyn! Nice talking to you!" She's already running back toward her dorm before the sentence is halfway done. The rest is yelled in her wake. She's managed to have no idea where she needs to be now that the lunch period is ending. This is sure to bode well for the rest of her afternoon.
