Barnes Academy - Gym

This module is also fairly large, containing an elevated track that spans the circumference of the room, giving it about an eighth of a mile for a single lap. Below the track and the large ports looking out into the water is a central area that can be configured for anything from basketball to street hockey. Around the central area are areas with hydraulic weight set ups, gymnastics equipment, fitness stations and mats for yoga, sparring or stretching.

With his wounds from Africa mostly healed Travis is making a point to hitting the gym. He's lost weight and he isn't that pleased about it. As an athlete he's always liked to stay in shape. He's dressed in the Barnes issued work out clothes and is currently using the bench press so that he can give each one of his arms a work out. He's got his earbuds in as he slowly works up to more and more weigh, glad that the advanced equipment at Barnes has safety built in.

While normally Rashmi would find the Barnes bodysuit… rather a bit too revealing to be fully comfortable with, it's impossible to deny that they serve well as workout clothes. Thus she exits the girls' locker room, scuffing a heel against the floor to get herself used to the suit's boots. While she doesn't have earbuds in as well, the distracted look on her face serves as ample reason why the redhead fails to notice Travis at the bench-press, instead setting up a jog around the outer track that could more accurately be called a slow trot. However, heavy exercise is a new experience for the law student, so, best to take it slow at the outset.

After completing 10 slow reps with each pair of arms, Travis gets up to change the weight to something higher. He wants to know what his new limits are without pushing it too much. Sitting back down on the bench he notices Rashmi running above and pulls out the headphones from his ears. "Hey Rashmi, I didn't know you were back yet." He calls out as a greeting.

Rashmi blinks, lifting her hand at Travis and smiling. "Hi, Travis!" she calls, keeping up her pace… but it's nlt long before she's puffing for breath with the effort of talking at volume and jogging at the same time. "Just… got back… last night, actually. Had to… change my schedule… for the next… semester or so."

Travis heads up stairs and goes to start jogging next to Rashmi to keep up pace with her. "Well welcome back. I haven't started with classes again yet but Monday I will be." He just needed time off. "Change your schedule?" He asks as he finds it easy to keep pace with her. "What's going on?"

"I'm… taking… the next… semester or so… off from law school," Rashmi puffs, dabbing sweat from her brow. "…And work, too, honestly… Ms. Walters… was understanding… about that… which was nice."

Travis stops running for a second quite surprised by that actually. He takes a second and starts running with her again. "Wow, really? You're putting aside going into law? Why's that?" He asks.

"I talked… to Ms. Drew," Rashmi answers, once Travis catches back up. "She's going… to do… advanced… combat training… with me… all week… instead… which is why… I'm jogging… now… trying to get… used to the work…"

Travis nods to Rashmi and he can't question why. "Not a bad idea. If that's what you want, well if you ever need someone to work out with you, let me know. And one important thing, don't forget water." He says giving her a smile. "So, how are you holding up?" He asks sounding a bit concerned.

"Better," Rashmi says, taking a pull from the bottle in one hand. "Spent time… with Mami… and Papi… then… talked to a friend… about what happened…" She lets out a small laugh, blotting the sweat from her brow again. "Y'know… it was… actually… a little better… because… he's… kind of a nihilist… but he's… been through… kind of similar stuff…. himself…. so he knows."

"That's good, I talked to Index last night, helped a bit." Travis admits. "Finding doing stuff helps." He says as he nods. "Ya know, I'm kinda jealous of that. I miss having more friends." He admits taking a drink of water himself. "I've been spending a lot of time with Mom, but that's about it. So, before we left Africa I asked if you wanted to go on a real date. You free on Friday night?"

Rashmi stumbles to a halt, leaning over with her hands on her knees. It's a while before she can manage to get her breath back, but once she does, she looks up with a bright smile on her face. "Friday…? Sure… that… sounds… great, Travis…"

Travis smiles and lets out a bit of a chuckle. "Don't push yourself too hard." He says as she's leaning over. "And great, I'll plan something for us. I'm really glad you're doing better Rashmi. Also anytime you feel like hanging out you're always welcome to come by my suite. I doubt Billy would care."

"Billy might not…." Rashmi puffs, chuckling, "but the school… might… regulations…. y'know…?"

"What, they won't let us hang out?" Travis asks. "I didn't mean anything else by it, I mean, if you ever wanna come by watch a movie or anything."

"Well I know *you* don't mean anything else," Rashmi says after a moment. "But Barnes rules… Because not everyone's as nice and law-abiding as we are."

"Yeah…law abiding." Travis says as he doesn't feel like he is as much as as he used to. "I just don't see why you coming to hang in our suite would be a problem but I don't want to get you in trouble. Just hanging out in the common room isn't my idea of relaxing." He says with a chuckle.

"True," Rashmi admits. "Well, I'll look over the regulations… they might just be talking about the bedrooms, so it can't hurt to check, right?"

Travis chuckles and nods. "Okay, just was thinking maybe this weekend we could have a Lord of the Rings marathon. I know they're some of your favourite movies and just, you know, do some normal stuff. I just have been feeling a lot better when I've been busy."

Rashmi perks, and it can be seen in her eyes, if not necessarily on her lips; Viggo Time? "…A marathon? That sounds like a *really* good idea, actually… Um. I'll bring the popcorn, okay?"

"I'll get one of those pizza kits and some drinks and we can make it a day." Travis says as he puts a hand on Rashmi's shoulder. "Well I'm gonna head to the showers and then head back to my Mom's suite. I've been sleeping there the last few nights. Have a good night and anytime you want a work out partner, feel free to grab me." He leans forward to give her a kiss before heading out.
