NYC - Central Park
Central Park is a large public park in upper Manhattan, largest areas of green with people reading, having a picnic, or playing Frisbee. Walking paths can be found all around the park. In-between the large area's of grass, the park is shadier with many trees. A large road circles the park where joggers, bicyclists, and inline skaters are commonly found.
Now that Danny has his powers back he's been able to get out more and do the things he usually does which is work and work out, now that he's not sick all the time. He's gotten out of work from his job at the book store and has decided to go to Central Park to just relax. He lies in the grass at the moment as sits there reading. He's dressed in a casual t-shirt and jeans and his backpack lies in the grass next to him.
After a moment, a shadow is cast over Danny. If the man looks up, he'll see Cole looking down at him with a goofy smile. The man's dressed for the warm weather and has a backpack over his shoulder. "Whatcha readin'?"
Danny jumps slightly and looks up. "Heya Cole!" Danny sas as he turns over so he's lying on his back. "Ah was just readin' tha first book in tha Dark Elf Triology series, Ah ain't read them since High School and Ah didn't remember them so it's been like readin' something new." Danny says with a chuckle.
Cole flops down on the grass next to Danny, dropping his bag next to the other man's. "Ooh, I like those books. Got 'em all in a box back in my room," he says. "Didn't think I'd run into you out here in the park today."
Danny chuckles. "Ah wasn't expectin' tah run intah anyone either." Danny says pulling a bookmark from the back of the book and sliding it into the page before closing it. "Ah'm just happy tah have mah powers back is all. Ah like bein' mah rocky self."
Cole grins. "Glad you're happy and whole again," he says. "Even if you were pretty cute with the wings."
"Flyin' was neat and fun but Ah'm happier like this. Ah don't get sick all the time." Danny says as sits up. "And thanks again, for takin'
care of me when Ah was sick, Ah really 'preciate it Cole."
Cole lays so his head os close to the sitting Danny, smiling up at him. "Glad you're not sick anymore too," he says. The shield-maker then blushes slightly before the smile gets bigger. "You're welcome but I was happy to do it. Ya had me worried."
"Ah just has a real weak immune system as a kid and when that rock came from space, it kinda boosted it tah a normal one." Danny says with a shrug as he really doesn't understand it. "So..Ah went tah see Jesse, at that place CApes and Cowls and ordered mahself a costume.
Cole nods, making a mental note to do a little research when he's got free time. When Danny mentions Capes and Cowls, Cole smiles. "You did? Awesome. How'd it go? Whatcha getting it made of? And what colors?"
"It went…well." Danny says nodding. "Blue and white, since Ah'm red in mah rock form and we're Freedom Force Ah figured it made sense. It's gonna be made of unstable molecules cause of mah shiftin'. Even though it don't add much bulk tah me, it adds some and Ah figured it'd be best. And that Jesse…he's…quite the firlt."
Cole smiles. "Awesome. I'm all blue and silver. All shiny," he laughs. "Lucky, he only had kevlar and kevlar-nomex when I went. I was thinking of eventually going back for an unstable molecule one," he chimes.
There's a pause then some blinking. "YEah, Jesse's a flirty guy."
Danny chuckles. "He was tellin' me 'bout the 'D' on your chest. Ah can't wait tah see it done. " He says looking up at him with a smile before takin' a deep breath. "Cole, Ah don't mean to get all serious but what are we? Ah mean, Ah know Ah really like ya but are we just two friends that like eachother or…Ah dunno, Ah'm not good at all this."
Cole quirks an eyebrow. "And what was he saying about the D on my chest?" he asks. There's a pause and Cole's smile fades. He bites his lip and sits up. "I'm not good at all this either…" he says. "What…do you want us to be?"
"Just that he didn't like it and that he thought the shield would be better." Danny says as he shrugs. "Ah dunno, Ah really like ya Cole and the thing is, Ah slept with Jesse. Ah'm just used tah workin' at the bar and just meetin' people, Ah ain't never been in a relationship and Ah kinda found myself feelin' a bit guilty for the first time. It's just, Ah really do like ya Cole and Ah like spendin' time with ya."
"I just didn't wanna get confused for thar Blue Shield guy," Cole murmurs. He's surprised by what Danny says and looks down a moment. He chuckles after a couple moments. "Man…we're sorta alike," he admits. "I've never really been in a relationship either…just a hand ful of one-night-stands and a sex-buddies thing I had going on," he says. "And don't worry about sleeping with Jesse. I've done it too…he's got this like…magnetic pull," he admits. Another pause occurs. "I really like you too, Danny. And spending time with you."
Danny can't help but let out a relieved sort of laugh. "That he does. And Ah've never heard of that Blue Shield guy so Ah wouldn't mistake ya." Danny says as he moves so he's lying down next to Cole. "So we should just take things as they for now then? Just two friends who like eachother with added benefits but more than just sex-buddies?" Danny says with a chuckle.
Cole lays down as well, scooting closer to Danny. "A few people confused me for him…found out when I got too curious and checked the internet about Freedom Force," he pauses. "And let me tell you, there are a -lot- of fan fics about our team and most are scary," he admits. Shaking it off, the shield-maker bites his lip again. "Friends with benifits that really care about one another? Sounds like a mouthful…" he trails off.
"Wait 'bout our team, like with me in them?" Danny says sounding surprised. "Ah really don't think Ah wanna know Cole, Ah think Ah'd prefer tah do real stuff with ya than readin' some weirdos fantasy of us." Danny says with a chuckle as he moves to place his hand on Cole's. "So ya wanna be more than? Ah really like ya Cole and Ah just don't wanna push ya inta something and seem forcefull."
"Unless there's another Sandstone or 'rock guy' on our team," Cole replies. He then laughs. "I wasn't too thrilled about finding it either. They had me and Gabriel making out in one of 'em. It was so bad but I couldn't look away…like watching a train wreck in brightly colored spandex," he laughs. Turning his hand, Cole squeezes Danny's. "I…don't know. We could be more but I don't want you to feel guilty every time you flirt with someone or have a little one-nighter."
Danny can't help but laugh. "Oh man speakin' of Gabriel, we should get him over tah Jesse for a costume to." Just because he'd like to give him the business. "So how about right now we say we're datin'. And speakin' of datin' how about later tahnight, Ah take ya out for dinner. There's a fun fondue place Ah can take ya too."
Cole laughs. "Yeah. We could head down there, drag Gabe along and get him one too," he laughs, happy now. He'd suggest sending Victoria there but he's not yet met her. When asked out to dinner, Cole blushes and nods. "Sure. What time?"
Danny has only met Victoria once but he doesn't know her that well. "Ah'd like tah get tah know Gabe more but he always seems so busy, but then you and Ah are the ones living there." Danny says taking Cole's hand is his own. "How 'bout dinner time. Maybe an hour or so? We can go back tah HQ, Ah know Ah need a shower, and then go from there. And yer cute when ya blush."
Cole smiles. "Yeah, just us, Mr. Cat, and the bossman livin' at the base. Dunno where that other person that's on the team lives and Gabe's got this place in the city he mentioned," he shrugs. When his hand is taken, Cole squeezes Danny's and smiles. "Sure. Give me time to get a shower and get into something nice than this too," he says, still with the blushing.
"Mr. Cat likes ya." Danny says with a chuckle as Cole tends to pet the cat which equals instand love from the furry guy. "Ah think she's with us but Ah only teamed up with her once. Yeah, Ah wanna get in something nicer than just t-shirt and jeans. These are mah after work bummin' clothes."
Cole shrugs. "I dunno. I just get along with most animals. And the ones that I don't get along with find out what a hamster feels like," he says with a grin. "I only know she's got rock powers but not like yours. Bossman didn't say much else," he says. "I dunno. You look pretty hot in those," he remarks, looking Danny over.
Now it's Danny's turn to blush. "But Ah wanna looks nice, not just casual. Mayber later tahnight ya can see me in something else." Danny says with a bit of a brow waggle. "She's got some sort of Obsidian form, which is why she's called Obsidian." Danny says with a bit of a 'obviously' look. He leans over and steals a quick kiss from Cole before starting to stand up.
"Something else or something less?" Cole asks, blushing at the brow waggle. Either's good with him. "Obsidian? Hm. I think I like it better on the guy in the comic book," he chuckles. The quick kiss catches him off guard and Cole's left blinking a few seconds before getting up with a grin.
Danny chuckles and shurgs. "Well see when tah time comes Cole." Danny brushes some of the grass off of him and offers a hand to Cole. "Let's get back tah Freedom Force and get ready then go out on a date." Danny says with a small chuckle.
Cole accepts the hand and nods. There's a flicker of blue across him, grass and debris falling away a moment later, and he grins. "Sure thing. Wanna walk or take the air-route?" he offers.
Danny ponders for a moment and the air route is tempting and Danny nods. "Lets go the air-route. After all we're goverment paid superheroes ain't we?" Danny takes a hold of Cole's hand and waits for him to lift them to the air.
Cole nods and pulls Danny closer. "Up, up, and away we go," he says. A glowing blue disc flickers into being under their feet. A second later, they lift off into the air and start hovering towards Liberty Plaza.
