Xavier Mansion - Gymnasium
This big room with wooden floors is build with powered students in mind; the entire room is power proof. Blast the walls all you like, they are not breaking. The gym can either be one large room and it also has dividers to make it two smaller gyms. This large Gym has basketball nets, equipment to set up equipment badminton, volleyball, hockey, soccer, gymnastics, fencing, and everyone's favorite, dodge ball.
The gym is a place that Robyn usually isn't found as he hates to exercise but at the same time he knows it's necessary. He's wearing his training uniform and going through some stretches before he starts to work out. He's got his ear buds in and his mp3 player attached to a band on his wrist. Robyn figures that getting in about a half hour of exercise or so before lunch will be sufficent.
Wearing just shorts and a t-shirt to work out in, Kieran's gotten fond of working out, while not a big weight lifter, he's fond of calisthenics and running and things like that, which probably accounts for his lean frame. The younger teen enters humming softly to himself, trying to banish a song from his head no doubt.
Robyn doesn't even notice Kieran enter the gym at first since he's absorbed into his own music. As he streches his leg out in front of him to grab onto his foot with his hand he starts to sing a bit. "This is ground control to Major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear…" His voice isn't anything that stands out as good, it's just average, but at least he isn't singing too off pitch.
Oh yay! A different song to be stuck in his head, Kieran likes this one actually. Now its time to leave the capsule if you dare. This is Major Tom to Ground Control. Im stepping through the door, And Im floating in a most peculiar way, And the stars look very different today." He sings joining in the song, his voice not bad, but not awesome. He begins stretching himself, not even seeming aware he's singing it would seem.
Robyn jumps up to his feet and hits a button on his mp3 player to stop the music from playing so that he can find something more upbeat to start running to. He hears Kieran singing before he spots him and turns to look where the voice is coming from. He pulls an earbud out and smiles. "Heya Kieran, you listening to David Bowie too?" Not realizing it was him who got the other teen singing.
"Huh?" Kieran blinks for a moment then realizes what he was doing,"Err.. No actually you were singing and then I just started because it got in my head and if I do that then I can usually get rid of the song before it worms too far into my head." He says laughing a little bit weakly,"Sorry if I disturbed you." He's currently doing a stress with his left leg fully extended and the right bent so the left's knee almost touches the floor.
"Don't worry abou it, I hate running." Robyn says adjusting the green and black training uniform he's wearing. "Oh, sorry, didn't mean to bother you with my singing but David Bowie is always a good choice to get stuck in your head. I usually listen to the Best of Bowie while stretching cause I find it relaxing." He says as he bends over to touch the ground. "So how are you liking Xavier's so far?"
"I'm a soccer player. If I hated running that would be a very weird thing." Kieran says laughing cheerfully,"I like it well enough. So far I think my favorite person to hang around is Kevin though. He's just a nice guy and doesn't seem to be trying to evaluate me for anything."
"I am an athletic supporter." Robyn says with a nod and grin. "I prefer to watch guys play sports then to play them myself. I'm quite unalthetic unlike Jordan." He says as he stands up straight. "I met Kevin once, he's really nice and why would people be trying to evaluate you? I mean besides teachers."
"Well I think it's natural. People try and figure you out and look for who you might be and whether you're worth associating with." Kieran says shrugging slightly at the older teen,"Of course there's this guy I met when I was in New York, and then was at the mall the other day. It was odd because he lives in the city, wouldn't think he'd come all the way out here for a piece of music."
"I already have it figured out who you are, it's easy. You're Kieran." Robyn says as if it's as simple as that. "My Mom and Dad always say it's more important to be yourself then anything else. Money doesn't matter as long as you're true to who you are." Robyn's a firm believer of that too. "Well it's a lot different out here then in the city, more quiet. Maybe he wanted to shop in a less chaotic atmosphere?"
"Hmmm… Maybe. Just something felt off in the way he was asking questions. Like he had an agenda of some kind." Kieran says shrugging a bit,"Yeah but you don't know what that means." He says smiling a bit at Robyn,"I mean knowing my name doesn't mean you know that I'm someone who loves playing soccer and being active, and also loves the quiet times and the soft sound of music, or that I prefer playing the acoustic to an electric guitar but I can play both."
"I didn't say that you are 'just' Kieran, just your name. I was saying that you are you. All I know is that you are you and that's what matters. Now I know more." Robyn says as he tries not to judge people that much. "So you like the soft sound of music, what about the loud sound of music? What kind of music do you like?" He asks curiously.
"Well I'm into David Bowie, and Eric Clapton, don't get me wrong I like some metal but where they're just clashing the instruments that's not for me. I love a lot of the music from the seventies because the guitar work is usually freaking awesome." Kieran says laughing a bit,"And I also like a lot of Celtic music, and music from Japan, and pretty much I like music in general. As long as it isn't just people screaming at the top of their lungs and trying to abuse their instruments." He says sounding amused,"I am me, and nothing really can change that but doesn't mean everyone sees me for me."
"I love David Bowie, and a lot of eighties stuff like Depeche Mode, The Smiths and The Cure. But then I also like a lot of electronic types of music too. With my Dad I grew up on alot of seventies music, lots of Rush." Robyn says with a chuckle. "I think I might have told you my Dad's in a Rush cover band. I'm not into a lot of metal, it really depends on the type. But I listen to a lot of stuff cause of my Dad." He shrugs. "Well no, not everyone sees a person for who they are but as long as you're happy with you that's what is most important."
"Yep." Kieran says smiling a bit,"I remember that. I actually know a few Rush songs. I've been teaching myself Behind Blue Eyes." He says as he bends to touch his toes,"Got to love the Who. Great musicians." He says cheerfully as he stands up straight again,"I don't know much about the Smiths or the Cure. I know Depeche Mode. I used to listen to REM and Nirvana a lot."
"Nirvana, Lucas here loves them. I think he emulates Kurt Cobain sometimes." Robyn says as he sits back down on the gym floor to happily ignore the fact that he came down here to exercise. "Lucas is a student teacher here, he graduated and now helps out Mr. Gilpatrick."
"I hope he doesn't emulate him too much." Kieran says seriously as he continues stretching, not having forgotten why he came down,"Cool. I met Mr Gilpatrick. I think his classes will teach me a lot. Probably knows a lot more about music than I do. Better at the piano that much I do know for certain." He says as he moves to do some pushups.
"I take classes with him cause I know how to play the cello. He's a cool teacher." Robyn says as he pulls up his legs against his chest. "He does seem like he knows a lot but I think he's been playing for a long time. And no, Lucas doesn't emulate him too much. He has better taste in girls." He says with a grin. "I can't believe there's a little more then a month left to the school year."
"Wouldn't take a whole lot. I was more worried about taking a gun to the head." Kieran says seriously for a moment, between breaths as he continues his pushups,"It's hard to believe isn't it? COurse I just got here but…" He trails off after a moment.
"It's weird for me cause I'm graduating this year. I was a sophomore when I first came here and just so much has changed in that time." Robyn says before shaking his head. "Sorry, I don't want to scare you just you kinda grow up fast here with the amount of stuff that tends to happen."
"So what are you going to do after you graduate?" Kieran asks curiously, moving to sit down casually. "Things can get a little bit crazy from what I've heard but so far everything has seemed perfectly ok around here."
"I want to go to art school." Robyn says. "I've got a ton of applications that I'm just waiting to hear back on. It should be any day now." He says crossing his fingers. "I also need to hear back in regards to scholarships cause I know my parents can't really afford to send me to college." He says sounding slightly worried. "But things can get crazy I mean my boyfriend left the school cause he thought things were too dangerous here."
"I mean aren't things pretty nasty out there too?" Kieran asks frowning a little bit,"I didn't think it would really matter. At least here there are people that can protect people in a pinch. Sure crap happens but location is irrelevant I'd thinkg."
"Well with here, we're at a school with a bunch of mutants under one roof, it's kind of a target. I'm just happy nothing horrible has happened to me yet this year. Last thing to happen was last Halloween a bunch of us got transported to another dimension and started to kind of become one with that dimension. I was becoming a ghost and couldn't remember who I really was." Robyn says. "And a few months back one of my best friends got kidnapped in Africa so…it..can have it's really scary moments here but over all I love it here. I wouldn't have met my boyfriend, Jordan, or my friends if I didn't go here."
"I think that if we were on our own, we'd still be targets though. Maybe putting a bunch of us together increases it a bit, but who's to say the trouble still wouldn't have occurred?" Kieran asks the last bit with the utmost severity in his face and voice,"I don't think any of the girls at Seton would have been coming after me if they knew I was a mutant."
"Honestly I don't know. Just being a mutant puts a target but we also live at the home of the X-Men so there are several super villains like Mr. Sinister and Selene who know we're here." Robyn says with a shudder. "I still get nightmares over Selene." He mutters. "Seton, what's that? And well if someone is going to judge you just cause of a stupid gene then it's their loss."
"I went to Elder, an all guy's school. Our sister school was called Seton and was right next door. We shared a parking lot actually. The chorus sang together for concerts and the plays were all joint ventures." Kieran says shrugging a little bit,"And think about how many people do exactly that. My brother I suspect isn't terribly happy about me being a mutant. Well my eldest, don't think that my youngest brother would care if I became a monster." He says laughing a bit.
"Oh, I always went to public school so I don't know much about all boys or all girls schools. Sending me to an all boys school might not be the best of ideas anyway." Robyn jokes with a laugh. "My Mom wasn't to happy at first with me being a mutant. It took her a while to adjust and now she's become over protective at times. But give your brother some time maybe he'll adjust too."
"We'll see… He's stubborn. He's not being overt about it so far. Just… I can tell the difference." Kieran says shrugging a bit,"It could just be me going to a school with girls. He's still stuck at Elder until the year's out." He says laughing a bit,"Well it has the joyful bonus about being a Catholic school. I don't think you'd have gone crazy. Plus it's not a boarding school like here." He says sounding highly amused,"People hate people for different coloured skin, having mutations, and even for liking someone of the same gender. I think sometimes people look for reasons to hate."
"Even here you run into sometimes. Theo and I didn't get along for the longest time cause he didn't like that I'm gay. He's better about it but we're not really friends." Robyn says with a shrug. "Honestly I could care less it's more about who a person is then what they are. Being gay and being a mutant aren't who I am."
"I don't like hate in general, never have." Kieran says shrugging a bit,"I've always dealt with people as people. It's what you do and how you treat others that earn either my trust or my shitlist." He says shrugging a bit,"Not met Theo. I really haven't met a /lot/ of the students around here. I think being mutant is part of who I am. Possibly because it affects my life so much. Touching people can be rather… problematic because most folks don't like getting shocked."
"I can identify with that since I have the whole touch I eat your psyche thing going on." Robyn says with a big grin. "Who I am is an artist over all though, or that's what I'd like to think of myself as. One day I'll get to work on movies sculpting designs for monsters and stuff. That'd be so cool." It's his dream to work on movies doing creature designs. "Theo can be really gruff when you meet him but he's really not that bad."
"Let me guess you want to work for Tim Burton doing his monsters?" Kieran asks grinning a bit,"I'm a musician first and foremost, even if I am only a mediocre singer. I still love playing guitar and coming up with songs. Hey! It works for Bob Dylan and I'm no where near as bad a singer as he is." He says laughing cheerfully,"But I don't know what I want to do for real. Music is fun, but I'm not sure it's something I'm good enough at that I can make a living out of doing it."
Robyn laughs and shrugs. "Maybe, I'd be happy with anything actually. Being able to see something I create go from being a sculpture to animated would just be awesome no matter who was the film creator." Robyn says. "Though Tim Burton is my idol. And doing what you love is what's most important right? It doesn't matter how much money you make as long as you're happy. Though I guess it matters that you make enough to get by…"
"Most musicians need a second job. I mean I guess I could do like my mom and just do private lessons." Kieran says shrugging a little bit,"If I hadn't developed my mutation, next year I'd probably be helping my mom with some of her students on the basics of guitar." He adds shrugging a bit,"Now I'm thinking seeing if I can learn to use my abilities to play the guitar. It'd be interesting if I could magnetize just small pieces. Probably impossible but you never know."
"My Dad doesn't do anything else but be a musican, I mean for a living. But his band, besides doing Rush covers, they get hired to play weddings and stuff like that. And my Mom is an artist like me but she illustrates children's books." Robyn says. "You might be able to, who knows. I don't know much about playing the guitar honestly. Playing the guitar with lighting would be kinda neat."
"Actually it'd be using electromagnetic waves to adjust the the way the strings are, course if I can alter them slightly I might be able to change the way they're vibrating to mimic the normal ones." Kieran says grinning a bit,"But yes. I bet I could probably see about doing something like the Tesla coils in Sorcerer's Apprentice."
"I never saw that movie." Robyn admits. "I don't have that much time to check out movies like I used to be able to. I think the last one I saw was Tron Legacy cause Connor wanted to go since Daft Punk was doing the music. It was pretty cool. And that'd be pretty cool if you could do that with your powers.
"Basically not even sure the scene is possible but it's still cool. The main character uses Tesla Coils to generate different sounds as they strike each other." Kieran says nodding his head a bit,"And it would be cool. It'd also be a very delicate use of my power to play a guitar with it. If I magnetize the strings too much they won't vibrate right and thus produce sounds that aren't right, too little and the same problem."
